Moh Esh was quick to drag the dragoon along, tail swishing excitedly behind them. “Mama’s very nice, you’ll like her! She spends most of her time in Ishgard, with the Ironworks here, or far across the seas, but she always makes sure I’m looked after if I can’t come with! My name is Moh Esh! What is yours?”
“Slow down, little one,” Estinien grumbled, though there was a softness to his voice reserved for the young who could not yet take his teasing - or who were of a species that made it difficult for them to understand it. “I can barely understand a word you’re saying, let alone find room to fit in anything of mine own.” A very, very young dragon, this one. He supposes he’s glad they found someone to lok after them, but... a mortal parent will be long gone before the dragonet’s old enough to look after themself...

The small androgynous miq'itten stared at the dragoon with wide eyes, and then sheer glee. "You are like me! Oh, oh! Mama will want to meet you! Follow me, ser!" To Estinien, despite the form the little one wore, it would be plain as day what the child was; a dragonet, of a very specific wyrm's brood. [lighttheabyss, Moh Esh]
Estinien’s normal response to the sort of reaction he just had was to deny it at politest and, more often, simply leave. But in this particular case, he found he couldn’t bring himself to do so. Apparent miq’itten or not, he knew one of Nidhogg’s brood when he drew near, and this was absolutely one of the now-slain Great Wyrm’s offspring - a grandchild or great-grandchild in mortal terms, he thought. Which... left him with an unfortunately large soft spot, because the little one was not only a child but one of Nidhogg’s, and as such...
Well, a part of him cried out to kin, though he had been without family since childhood, and he could not leave them or deny their happiness. Hopefully whoever had taken this little one in wouldn’t know who he was and what he had undergone to become what he was now.

She shrugged back, a smirk tugging at her lips. “So you say.” Pi’sohr looked in the direction Pi’rhaka had gone earlier, tail lazily twitching behind her. “I rather wonder if your companion sees what I do. They are a shaman, after all, for all that they carry a lance, now.”
“An what point do you mean to make with that statement?” Estinien said, frowning. “There is naught to be done about anything save go on our ways - and staring, milady, is rude. Were I one to care more about manners I should think I would be most affronted. As it is I simply wish to know what you mean to accomplish. If you seek my soul there are better methods than to try and stare into it.”

‘Pi’sohr Merah’ quirked a eyebrow at Estinien, then snorted. “More like wings, broodling.” He was a man, and yet…the aura of a dragon, beyond the lingering traces of her broodmate’s aura, was wrapped around him.
It was also, most certainly, the most she’d said around him of yet.
He was not going to twitch, or otherwise give this woman (if woman she was; he had his doubts) the pleasure of seeing him caught off guard by her statement. “Keep watching, then, if you like,” he said, and shrugged. “You’ll not experience your dream of seeing me sprout wings and leap into the sun any time soon, I’m afraid.”

“Away with you,” Estinien snarls, looking particularly irritated as he sits up. He had just gone to rest for a few minutes while traveling through the Azim Steppe, and somehow - somehow every sheep in the area decided to flock aaround him, climb on top of him, and nibble at his hair. “Away with you, I said, I am not your keeper nor do you truly wish to keep company with me.”

@shroudedscholar
Anyx Trine has been good for him. To simply exist among his kind, among his cousins…he has been alone for so long, he had forgotten what it felt like to be surrounded by the song. Even if it wasn’t his brood’s – Osenya was here, and she did sing that song. He perhaps regretted, somewhat, how easy it was to put aside his mortal guise and all but forget it for a time…but it had been sorely needed.
He’s on the ground level of the tower, all but covered in dragonets, when he spies a mortal approaching. It’s one he recognizes, actually, and he’s pleased to see that he was coming here – he was dragon in part, now, and he couldn’t pretend otherwise. To ignore the song in your heart and remain alone…well, he knew how bad that was.
He nudges some of the dragonets off him and rises, the feathery white dragon approaching to bow its avian head to the dragoon in greeting. “Hello, Estinien,” he rumbles in Dravanian. “’Tis good to see thee once again.”
Even before the strangely feathered dragon speaks to him, Estinien recognizes him. How, he isn’t sure - it’s tied to the pull that he’s never been able to quite put into words; the song of dragonkind, but nonetheless he does, and he isn’t certain whether to be pleased to see the ancient dragon who had, despite his own reluctance, been only of help to him during their brief encounter, or aggravated that their paths keep crossing.
...Eventually, however, he settles for amusement, because he noticed the number of hatchlings resting with the avian-esque dragon (the more stubborn among them clinging to him even now), and it’s hard not to smile just a little at the sight of all those broodlings night-covering a much larger creature. It makes something twinge within him - something very sad and very old, and he knows it to be from what remnants of Nidhogg he keeps.
It is a relief, he supposes, to know he will not lose himself. But if 'tis so simple as to be lured to this place by instinct, then there are things he will need to learn if ever he is to be able to return home. So he returns the old dragon’s greeting with a bow, and decides to be on his best behavior - an irronic contrast from how he acted when last he arrived in this place. But he’ll not threaten Vidofnir or any of her brood. Not now. Not ever again.
“I admit I am surprised to find myself here,” he admits softly, a wry sort of smile on his face. “But I am nonetheless pleased to see you again, as well.”

[text: estinien] That’s a colorful metaphor but not entirely inaccurate.
[text: estinien] Besides, I like him better than a dumb nautilus for our mascot.
[text: estinien] Absolutely not lying, I’m so sick of instant ramen I could cry.
[text: estinien] I want my pretty Studio Ghibli Ponyo ramen :(
[text: alan] Don’t say that where he’ll hear you; he might get a costume.
[text: alan] ... There’s a new place on East Aldenard and 12th. Just opened last week.
[text: alan] Go forth and seek ye the anime ramen of your dreams.

[text: estinien] He was, yes.
[text: estinien] I’ve seen him sitting in on a lot of classes tbh, I think he’s actually attempting to go to college? Somehow? IDK he’s just weird.
[text: estinien] Absolutely, tho.
[text: estinien] Even I’M tired of ramen.
[text: alan] An unconventional education but if he’s getting away with it I won’t stop him.
[text: alan] It would be too much like kicking a kitten.
[text: alan] In the rain.
[text: alan] That’s possible??? You’re lying, I can tell.

[text: estinien] He’s a stray something, that’s for sure, but I think Prof Augurelt already adopted him, tbh.
[text: estinien] I’ve seen him hanging around his office a lot.
[text: estinien] In any case yes I have, and that’s on top of “college student” so free food is doubly appealing. Esp. when its good authentic Asian food~
[text: alan] Did he? Good for him. Wasn’t he already letting him sit in on most of his classes anyway?
[text: alan] It’s not from a can, a box, or the caf. It’s worth going for.

[text: alan] Blame the campus hobo. He got ‘inspired’ when he heard it was my birthday a few months back.
[text: alan] That does sound a lot better than a mosh pit, though. I’ll go if you’re offering.
[text: estinien] Oh, him? He’s…not that bad most of the time
[text: estinien] I’m sorry for him, though.
[text: estinien] Yay, though! It’s next weekend. There’s an art exhibit as one of the events so I thought you’d like it. (free food, too)
[text: alan] I’m certain he meant well... ish? But it wasn’t to my taste.
[text: alan] ... I know that tone even through text. He’s not a stray cat, Alan. You can’t adopt him.
[text: alan] Haven’t you ever heard of a starving artist? I won’t turn down food.

….I don’t want to know, but I’m sorry.
[text: estinien] No, though, it’s a ticket for a culture fair the Asian Studies track is putting on.
[text: estinien] I’m helping so I got a +1 ticket and thought you might enjoy it?

[text: roommate] the window is starting to look appealing tho
[text: roommate] is that bad?
[text: psychmajor] That depends. What floor are you on, again?
[text: psychmajor] If second or below, it might be worth the risk.
[text: psychmajor] Third or above, the hospital bills would probably get in the way.
[text: psychmajor] So tough it out.
