i need to scream about athos the wildling for a second. (ignore the fact that i love the name athos from the musketeers so much i needed to name a wildling after him ok pls!) anywho, affiliated with @literare and we don't know how to do happy cute things for long so it's sad and painful.
(working with some content from vikings) -- athos was born beyond the wall. an injury as a child left him with a lame leg and he was outcasted by his community for it. a waste of resources; should be another's meal. his brother (name tbd/will be a muse later) was the only one who stood up for him but to no avail. one foot within the community, he visited his brother every day to bring him rations, clothing, and whatever needed to keep him going. but athos started to learn to provide for himself. his leg was not a setback, merely something to adjust to. with a self-made brace, he can walk as close to normal as he can, but with a noticeable limp; running for long was out of the question. so he had to learn to defend himself (with his brother's help), and provide for himself when his brother could not meet with him.
the day he met eira stark would change his life forever. he came across the girl who came from the other side of the wall about to be killed by another from athos' old community. but he stepped in, killed the other wildling. eira was the first to treat him like another human being. she was kind to him, didn't make him feel like he was a mistake living in this world. while everyone else isolated him, she welcomed him. and so he promised to help her find her way back to the wall and return home . . . with some intentional mishaps leading her the opposite direction because he wanted to keep her around awhile longer. luckily for him, he didn't suffer a loss when the truth came to light. six months they traveled together, living their own lives. the happiest six months he'd ever known. until one day he decided to keep true to his word and he led her on a journey back home -- with the intent of joining her across the wall. but when the wall came into view, with he noticeably looking different than her, an arrow came soaring his way. a single arrow that claimed his life.

romero. 35-44 range.
a nomad -- member of the aldecaldos who prefers inhabiting couches of few close friends of the pack within night city over the deserts of the badlands. he and a few members of the pack branched away from saul bright's ideals, choosing to stick with smuggling people and merchandise out of night city. his choice of vehicle is a heavily modified motorcycle. romero doesn't like to talk much about his past. but his heavily tattooed body might tell the story for him: an unnamed biker lady wite a date of death detailed in the bike's license plate.
personality: romero doesn't like to talk much about his past. he's reliable and will get the job done. the more illegal the job & better paying, the more likely he'll have fun with it. he's loyal only to those who have earned his trust.

something something, not fully verbally speaking in mermaid form and communicating in other ways. i imagine she can fully comprehend what others are saying and may even offer words or short statements (which is how she communicated with her first human companion and his family), but the telepathic link between mermaids is stronger while in mermaid form. but as a landwalker, she can communicate with fuller sentences after a few days of being mute and acclimating to being human, rendering the telepathic link weakened unless she happens across another of her kind on land.

elorah has a pet seahorse, the one thing she regrets leaving behind for land. (especially given their short lifespans.)
as a mermaid, her diet consists of smaller fish and her kind are seen as predators for smaller sea animals. it took her a bit of time to adjust to human foods on land. (and might sometimes slip away to the fish markets.)
speaking of eating, she lacks general table manners. unless someone was to take the time to teach her etiquette, she's very much a eat with your hands, food hanging out the mouth, slurping, talking with your mouth full, messy mouth type.
she steals. a lot. in her mind, it's not stealing. the ocean is vast and things often wash away to the sea from the shore. it's common practice to take what catchs the eye. which most likely gets her in trouble at the markets when caught. she quickly learns why her human friends relied on her pearls to keep them floating. eventually she learns to trade her pearls on her own. (especially since she has plenty of reasons to cry now.)
her love languages are touch and gift giving. it's possible the gifts she gives others are stolen. but often she brings things from the shores. as far as touch goes, holding one's hand is a big indicator that she cares for and trusts another. when she really wants attention, she will grab another's face gently between her two hands. (personal space is a trait she needs to learn and work on.)

dahlia lockdust ( 16 during the 71st hunger games. deceased. -- up to age 24 in survival and alt universes. )
she was never much of a fighter; didn't have much of anything to fight for aside for her own life. any food she got her hands on was often shared with others because there were those who had families and were much worse off. she was just another poor girl from district twelve with nothing but a pair of sad eyes and a distant smile. it came to no surprise no one volunteered to take her place. she had no siblings, parents succumbed to sickness years ago. dahlia only had herself and a sense of stoic stubborness that kept her feet moving to the platform. they would not make entertainment out of her inner grief. one thing about being someone with no one, you teach yourself things. dahlia was good at tracking and differentiating plants, not much of a hunter, but a damn good gatherer. it's what kept her going during the games: she lied low, kept herself going off plants and hiding in high places. but that could only last for so long and eventually she formed an alliance with johanna mason ( @ wickedaxe ) -- knowing fully well that all good alliances in a game of death would come to an end.
personality: dahlia isn't your typical survivalist. she doesn't believe in stepping on others to get ahead. her life has been pretty lonely and she's scraped by with just the bare minimum. in combat, she would likely be overpowered unless she could use her quick reactions to outwit another.

athos the wildling. 22 - 30 range.
they say his mother died of fever in his first year. his father, he holds no recollection over: fled or killed or something other. the only true memory of family he holds is of his elder brother, korvos. when concerns grew over athos' twisted leg, it was korvos who spoke for him and protected him. when athos grew of walking age and a limp was prominent in his gait, the free folk he was born to wanted him dead. he'd be too slow to run, too weak to defend himself in a battle of swords. he was better off to be their meal, they'd said. but it was korvos who wouldn't allow for any harm to come to his brother. athos was banished; deemed useless, cursed by the old gods. and so athos would learn to survive in the woods. not entirely alone, as korvos would visit him each week. he'd offer food and fur clothes to keep his younger brother going. but athos had to learn to fend for himself. after all, his fascination of the wall and what lie beyond it had been too great for him to remain as is.
personality: despite the cards dealt by the gods or the treatment received from his own people, athos is a gentle soul, with hardly a cruel bone in his body. he views banishment as an opportunity to explore and sharpen his own skills.

daenerys targaryen: the house of usurpers au. on another platform i've written on, i had this au for dany and want to bring it back here.
tldr and heavily fudging details for sake of making it work: aerys targaryen is a cousin of viserys i targaryen and he dubbed himself king of a smaller kingdom. when word of his treachery had spread, the 'mad king' had been killed, his land absorbed into the seven kingdoms, and his two remaining children not slain during the uprising had been taken in as his wards. her brother viserys had been whispering in her ear that their birthright had been stolen from them and they were merely caged in the keep. word had gotten out about viserys' ungratefulness and as punishment, daenerys had been sent off to essos where she was arranged to wed khal drago. in this case, her history semi-follows like her main verse and she eventually hatches 3 eggs and works towards building up an army -- so one day she may reclaim what she believes is rightfully hers since her father's own kingdom had been stripped from their family. she and her supporters are known as the reds. when she does return to westeros, her presence becomes known but she's hardly a match to reckon with as her dragons are too young and she hasn't enough supporters in westeros. viserion dies first, followed by rhaegal. daenerys dies in battle riding drogon.
this au is broken up in two: whether she grows up with rhaenyra and alicent, or alicent's children. regardless of who she grows up with, the outcome is the same. she feels wronged after suffering due to her brother's foolishness and his words stuck with her. if she must suffer, then something must be gained from it. and because i don't want her presence altering the main canon, sadly she must die.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤ↪ ELORAH INFORMATION.
ELORAH : A STUDY.
name: elorah
age: appearance in her mid 20s. actual age is unknown/unrecorded, possibly a couple of centuries old.
birthplace: believed to be born in the summer sea.
gender & pronouns: female, she/her
family: tbd. parents & siblings
species: mermaid, of the merfolk
orientation/sexuality: biromantic/bisexual
hair/eyes: dark brown/dark brown
height: 5'7 (in human form.)
elorah was always told to stay away from the humans by her own kind -- but they were fascinating to her. even after decades (or has it been centuries?), she finds them to be an ever evolving species she wishes to learn more of. she's always wished to know what having legs was like or how sand would feel in between her toes. but she knew the moment she stepped on land, she would shave off years of her life. she had been warned: if she's to go to land, make sure the reason is worth it. and everyone knows the only thing worth dying over is love.
her first encounter with a human had been in her younger mer-years. a sailor who fell overboard while she'd been peeking out to see the sun of the early morn. she heard the splash and the struggle, had helped him before he could drown. even as she allowed herself on the small wooden boat, she remained as she is -- only leaving when he was conscious once more. she would soon learn he lived by the shores of summer hall, not too far from where he'd almost drowned and she befriended him. (a rare occurrence for a human to keep the secret of the mermaid, but he befriended her nonetheless.) over the next decades, elorah watched this human grow from a young man, to a husband and a father -- and eventually a grandfather. she cared for this family, all of whom kept her existence a secret. when times grew rough, her tears were put to good use and she would gift them pearls to sell for coin. and in exchange (despite elorah's insistence that exchange was unnecessary) they gifted her trinkets from the land. (her favorite being the hair comb that would detangle her floating locks.)
his death had been the first she took to stepping on land, risking years of her extended life just to pay her respects to an old friend and a family she'd grown fond of. her first days, she was unable to speak at first -- adjusting to legs and no longer speaking telepathically like she'd do with her own kind. but she was quick to pick up on human customs and learn their ways. days spent with this family that made he feel right at home. she learned then, they would be leaving soon -- choosing to head further north and away from their family home. an invitation extended her way to join them on their travels. only a few days spent on land and she knew the answer almost immediately: she wanted to learn more of humanity and the land.
things to note:
elorah develops a love of exploring. while eventually the family settles down in a town a distance from king's landing, she can be found occasionally heading off on her own to explore other towns or go on adventures with one of the sons whom she'd grown close to. the eldest son of her late friend, he teaches her how to navigate this world and to not be so friendly with every stranger she meets.
just as the legends would suggest, her reasons to go on land had to do with love. but not in the romantic sense. the friendship she'd grown over the years with the sailor had been one so genuine and felt on a familial level. her love of the land as a result of stepping on it had convinced her to stay.
she'll come to learn hard lessons and harsh realities of what it's like to live as a human. but her spirit is not so easily dimmed -- so long as she remembers she can always return to the ocean.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤ↪ ELORAH INFORMATION.
THE LEGEND OF THE MERMAID. for the most part, the creatures of the sea remain to be just that: legends. few are fortunate enough to learn the truth and keep their memory intact, but mermaids have been around since the beginning of time -- eventually choosing self preservation over being known by the humans. humans allow their greed to get the best of them and with that greed came a near extinction of an already small species. but times have changed and the mermaids live on, steadily growing in population over the centuries since they became simple legends. tales told to children just before bed, myths spoken amongst those who sail the seas. but in these tales remain an unknown truth: that every once in a blue moon, a mermaid will leave the sea to become a landwalker: all for love.
why mermaids almost went extinct over hundreds of years ago: mermaids are a special creature. when they cry, the tears that fall turn to into pearls. (tears of sadness produce the most common colored pearl: white. tears of happiness produce the rare pink pearl.) humans allowed their greed to capture mermaids for the means of collecting pearls to make themselves wealthier. simply put, mermaids a naturally happy and content beings. they're not meant to be captured and caged like wild creatures. captured mermaids began to die out due to broken hearts.
other notable traits: given that water can have potential healing properties, mermaids are capable of healing non-lethal and minor injuries others obtain. they are also able to erase unwanted memories of another with a touch. (though the occasional sailor who has fallen overboard and magically saved have often claimed they were kissed and abandoned by a stranger who slipped into the sea.) mermaids are also naturally curious and playful -- to break one's heart or leave them in a depressive state most likely will bring about the death of them. (however, returning to the sea can heal their emotional and physical wounds over a length of time -- if it's not too late.)
note! while the creation of this muse is a worldbuilding effort, some of the loreconcepts are inspired/borrowed from media such as the legend of the blue sea, with minor concepts from the little mermaid and possible other lore as i do research. nothing is set in stone as this is a new muse and things may be revisited and reworked over time as i discover more about my muse and her world.
more lore headcanons below:
mermaids are multilingual, as they travel across various seas and bodies of waters. they learn from sailors or by lingering to close along the shores being inhabited by humans. (along wit the occasional mermaid who sticks to land for too long.)
they can communicate with each other telepathically. legend has it, humans who fall in love with a mermaid can hear their thoughts, though mermaids cannot hear a human's thoughts -- regardless if they love them or not.
when a mermaid first chooses to walk on land, their mind is still of the ocean. their first steps are like jelly and often are mute for their first few days to weeks -- though they may comprehend. some may choose to not speak, if only to wait until they find a safe space (a place to call home or in some cases, a potential loved one) before they choose to speak aloud. once they start, they may never stop. as they're chatty individuals whose curiosities and every inner thought bubble from them. the longer they remain on land, they learn the customs of being human and pick up social cues. whether on land or in the water, they're incredibly smart and pick up knowledge quickly.
they can live hundreds to thousands of years. age progression works incredibly slow. so long as a mermaid maintains good health, they may keep a youthful appearance for centuries.
repeated land visits can lead a mermaid to shorten their life span. it's assumed that if a mermaid spends too long on land, they're choosing to become human. the choice can be permanent if the choose. few mermaids throughout history have chosen to become human and start families. (their children would likely notice that once they become of age, like a born mermaid, they could choose one life or the other.)
visually, they have a long mermaid tail and fin like a fish. unlike the drawings recorded of them, females do not wear shells over their breasts. instead, their scales outline their chest, waist, and below their waist.
being submerged in water, heavy rainfall, or any excessive amounts of water hitting their skin in human form will begin the transformation back into the sea creature.
mermaids are happy and curious creatures. they're playful with a mischievous streak, but always with a gentle natured heart.
