part of the reason I’m very defensive of Gumbald is that I feel a lot of criticism of his actions comes from a very deep misunderstanding of where he stands in relation to Bonnie

because, like… she isn’t his niece. she created him. she is the one responsible for his entire existence. and she assigned him to the role of caretaker with zero input on his part!

and, like, obviously this wasn’t some malicious thing she did to consciously exert control over him. she had no idea the ethical mess she was stumbling into! but the fact that she was at the time unaware of the responsibility she was creating for herself neither erases that responsibility nor UNO reverses it onto Gumbald, you know?

it is entirely possible, however, that her family all have bones, at least while in their original forms! this would delight me bc it would handily provide an in-universe explanation for how, due to eight years of art evolution, they’re drawn with subtle attention to anatomical detail that makes them look more human than Finn

so the thing about Bonnie is… she’s made of gum and doesn’t have bones. she has teeth—I think they’re human teeth but that’s for another post.

so anyways, I think interacting with her would be very odd! I don’t think she’s usually particularly sticky or anything, but her skin’s going to have a different texture than human skin! and underneath that skin, her entire body is gonna be a very consistent texture. the parts that you’d expect to be firm and unyielding (knees, shoulders, forehead… y’know, the places that would be bony on a human) are just a little too squishy and conversely the parts that you’d expect to be soft (cheeks, belly, &c) are stiffer than expected. I don’t know if it averages out, so to speak, but I do think that grabbing her forearm would be offputting!

and then… her hands. her hands! hands are SO bony! I think when she’s paying attention she forms the shape of knuckles and wrist bones but there still isn’t anything underneath so giving her a handshake would not feel the same at all.
