declan   lavellan.   warrior   class.   late   20s.   bisexual.   half   elf   &   half   human.   despite   clan   lavellan   moving   constantly   along   the   free   marches   to   avoid   altercations   with   humans   ,   declan's   mother   was   a   free   spirit   who   liked   to   explore   every   village   despite the danger.   during   one   of   her   visits   ,   she   ends   up   falling   in   love   with   a   human   merchant   ,   who   romanced   her   in   a   way   she   has   never   experienced   with   anyone   before.   they   made   plans   to   be   together   ,   but   declan's   father   was   killed   by   his   own   family   when   it   was   discovered   he   was   romantically   involved   with   an   elf.   declan's   mother   mourned   the   loss   ,   but   later   found   out   she   was   with   child.   rather   than   name   her   son   a   traditional   dalish   name   ,   she   named   him   declan   after   her   lover's   brother   ,   who   died   when   he   was   only   a   boy.   

declan's   half   human   nature   is   evident   in   his   facial   features   ,   which   makes   him   an   outcast   among   his   clan.   many   called   for   the   banishment   of   declan   &   his   mother for her recklessness   ,   but   the   keeper   allowed   them   to   stay   ,   sympathetic   to   the   two.   as   declan   grew   ,   he   became   less   inclined   to   befriend   anyone   in   his   clan   &   often   kept   to   himself.   he   would   often   hide   his   own   misery   &   sadness   with   humor   ,   &   is   often   incredibly   sarcastic   when   dealing   with   others.   his   solitary   nature   allowed   him   time   to   focus   on   hunting   &   reading   ,   so   he's   very   quick   on   his   feet   &   has   a   sharp   wit.   his   mother   &   the   keeper   are   the   two   of   his   clan   whom   he   is   very   close   to   &   he   would   do   anything   for   them   if   they   asked.

when   the   conclave   was   announced   ,   clan   lavellan   was   interested   in   seeing   the   outcome   ,   since   the   war   between templars & mages would   also   effect   the   lives   of   elves.   rather   than   send   her   first   ,   the   keeper   would   send   declan   instead   ,   as   she   knows   he   has   a   way   to   stay   hidden   in   the   shadows & wanted to give him a mission where he could prove himself in the eyes of their clan.   in   the   end   ,   declan   became   the   only   survivor   of   the   conclave   instead   ,   gaining   the   mark   on   his   hand   that   would   eventually   lead   him   to   be   known   as   the   herald   of   andraste   &   later   ,   the   inquisitor.

canon romances : josephine or dorian. ( had a crush on cassandra when they arrived to haven ) party : sera , blackwall & dorian or solas. closest allies : cassandra , sera , dorian & solas.
