       so  gwen  stacy  could  be  a  bit  of  a  LITTLE SHIT  around  peter  b  parker  .   what  could  she  say ?  he  reminded  her  of  her  old  best  friend  ,   someone  that  would  always  make  her  smile  and  grin  .   they were supposed to keep each other in check,    and  if  that  meant  dragging  peter  b  to  one  of  her  concerts  and  making  him  stay  for  the  other  performers  ...  so  be  it  .     “  don’t  drop  me  yet !  ”    she’ll  exclaim  ,   fumbling  for  her  phone  as  she  turns  on  the  video  .    “  i  promised  i’d  record  this  band  for  miles  -  and everyone’s so goddamned tall  around  here !   just  hold  on  a  little  longer  ,   pete ?  ”

“Can you keep doing that? For like, ever?” A study session that’s pushed Remy to the limit. He’s sat back from the table, rested atop the couch with his head falling against her shoulder in the process. There’s no request for her to comb through his hair, but it’s a well appreciated gesture. He smiles as content hums slip past his lips, his head falls further from her shoulder and falls into her lap in the process, “Ooops,” Remy speaks as he now rests in her lap but makes no motion to move-unless she says for him to. As Gwen’s fingers continue to comb through his hair and against his scalp there’s a brief twitch of his ears from the sensation, “Lets just do this for the rest of the night please.” 

         she’s  slipping up  ,   not  listening  to  her  own  rules  ,   breaking  everything  in  this  moment  all  because  this  boy’s  hair  looks  incredibly  soft  .   fingernails  scratch  against  his  scalp  ,   full  blown  head  massage  on  it’s  way  ,   and  she  can’t  help  but  notice  how  incredibly  DOMESTIC  all  this  felt  .     “  you’re  ridiculous  -  ”   gwen  stacy  informs  him  ,   though  there’s  no  malice  in  her  voice  ...  and  instead  ,   it’s  affection  ?   when  did  that  happen ?   god  ,   GWEN STACY’S FUCKED  ,  isn’t  she ?   sighs  ,   for  his  hair  was  as  soft  as  it  looks  ,   and  she  tugs  gently  at  it  ,   before  returning  back  to  combing  her  fingers  through  it  ,   fingertips  brushing  against  his  forehead  as  she  does  so  .    “  we  have  an  exam  tomorrow  ,   if  you  wanted  to  do  this  -  whatever  this  is  -  you  should  have  studied  and  started  earlier  .  ”

           heart  will  still  clench  when  he’s  around  ,   because  :   god  ,   there  wasn’t  a  single  difference  .   this was peter parker.   through  and  through  ,   to  the  bone  .   there  was  no  denying  that  .   and  somehow  ,   that  was  worse  than  visiting  her  best  friend’s  grave  .   of course she smiled.    he’d been her best friend.   even  different  universes  couldn’t  change  a  soul  connection  like  that  ,   no  matter  how  hard  they  tried :   it  seemed  that  gwen stacy  and  peter parker  would  always  be  drawn  to  each  other  .  

             pushes  blonde  tendrils  of  hair  away  from  her  face  ,   blue  eyes  flash  to  him  ,   purses  her  lips  in  response  .     “  can’t  deny  that  ,   ya’  got  me  there  ,   pete  -  ”   nickname  for  him  slipping  from  her  lips  like  no  time  had  changed  whatsoever  .   and  maybe  this  was  a  new  beginning  for  the  two  of  them  .

      she can assume that the close bond between herself and gwen stretched to any universe. at least the ones she’s seen so far it seems to be the case. good- that’s how it should be, in mary-jane’s humble opinion. still, seeing what was a living, breathing version of the blonde outside of her dreams was… a little jarring. 

      ❝ yeah. she was my best friend. ❞ mj blinked, shaking her head with a small laugh before her gaze settled onto gwen once more. ❝ sorry - you just look exactly like her… which makes sense. but you know. ❞ a wave of her hand, her head is tilting with curiosity now. ❝ so am i-. well is she still your best friend ?? ❞ there’s always at least one casualty, and she’s got the morbid curiosity to know if it was her. or rather, another version of herself.

         while  she  didn’t  lose  mary  jane  ...  her  mary  jane  lost  her  gwen  in  a  way  ,   didn’t  she ?   because  gwen  was  here  ,   not  there  ,   and  god !  the  whole  MULTI-VERSE  thing  was  really  messing  with  her  freakin’  head  .   but  still  ...  mary-jane  watson  had  been  a  highlight  in  her  own  life  -   but didn’t you swear to do things alone ,  gwen ?  

          it  seemed  that  old  habits  died  hard  ,   and  when  she  sees  the  redhead  in  front  of  her  ...  all  she  wants  to  do  is  pull  the  other  into  a  really  good  and  well  deserved  hug  .    “  so  all  of  us  gwens  are  bound  to  look  like  the  GIRL NEXT DOOR  ?  ”   gwen  asks  in  reference  to  the  beloved  archie  comics  she  grew  up  reading  ,   joke  ‘pon  her  lips  .     “  --  no  ...  things  happened  ,   i  -  we  lost  our  peter  -  ”   has  to  stop  there  ,   before  she  chokes  up  saying  the  words  .    “  things  changed  after  that  for  ...  all  of  us  .  ”
