Memoir - a low-effort SFW stormshipping zine!

Let's spend time from Valentine's day thinking about our favourite master and student of love!

Create a new fanwork involving Jun/Chazz and Fubuki/Atticus.

Submit it via one of the methods below by 30 June 2025.

Mod will compile into a single pdf and publish (intended to be on Internet Archive) on 30 July 2025 (international day of friendship)!

FAQ:

How do I apply?

No application needed, just create a work and submit as set out below. Anything made by the deadline will go in subject to content as below.

There will be no "background checks" or automatic exclusions of participants, however the zine is intended to build community within the ship scene: if any participant harrasses any other, their work may be removed from the zine.

What content is allowed?

Fanfiction, fanart, recipes, cosplay, meta... Any medium as long as it can be flattened into a PDF eventually. The work should be new and not published anywhere else until the zine's release (though you may create a teaser / preview during July if you wish).

The work should focus on the relationship between Atticus/Fubuki and Chazz/Jun. This relationship can be however you interpret it and both characters do not necessarily need to be present (e.g. a sketch of Jun writing a love letter to Atticus would be fine; so would a drabble about an OC's fly-on-the-wall description of the two together). However, please do not include romantic side pairings.

This is a low effort zine so there is no minimum requirement. I am bravely setting no maximum but this is a LOW EFFORT zine so probably not the place for your 400k epic. The long creation period is to reduce stress not increase it!

This will be a SFW zine so please no sexually explicit material, graphic depictions of violence, abuse, or major criminal activity. This is for practical reasons and creatives who may make works containing darker themes are welcome.

How do I submit?

Save your work as any common file format and either:

Email to stormshipping at pm dot me

Submit to this blog on tumblr @stormshipping

Add to the AO3 collection Memoir

on or before the deadline of 30 June including the information below.

Make sure to include how you would like to be credited (anonymous is OK too). Exclude any personally identifying info - don't send from your school email address for instance.

You must include a permission statement along the lines of "I request this work be included in the Memoir stormshipping zine and grant the right to non-commercial modification, publication and distribution of the work with attribution as part of said zine".

(modification - I need to add your work to the pdf; publication - the zine needs to be displayed; distribution - the zine needs to be available publicly; attribution - your credit will be included as requested)

Optionally, include some words about how you got into stormshipping, what you love about it, your headcanons...

You may submit more than one item but please send each separately with all the above.

Who are the mods?

There is one mod - Sixy, who runs this blog, also known as harinezumiko on AO3.

This zine has no finance or shipping (other than stormshipping!) and graphic design will be minimal to non-existent.

Who gets the covers?

You want a low-effort zine to have a cover?

Oh, alright then... If you are making art, let me know in your submission if you'd like to be considered for front or back cover. I will pick one that fits the size and looks ok with text over it (textless version will be included inside) and if there's still a choice there will be a difficult judging process (mod will post a poll with text descriptions).

A whole year has zoomed by since our inaugural Johan x Judai Week 2024! We're so excited to be gearing up for Johan x Judai Week 2025 as we reunite with returning participants and warmly welcome all the newcomers eager to join the excitement this year! 🤗🎉

The heart of this event is all about bringing fans together and connecting people who love Spiritshipping, Johan Andersen and Yuki Judai (a.k.a Jesse Anderson and Jaden Yuki), whether you've been a devoted fan and cherished this ship for many years, or you've just recently discovered and have fallen in love with them.

We hope and believe some of you already made some amazing friends along the way since the beginning of Spiritshipping Week 2024 last year, and we're really looking forward to creating even more meaningful connections and great memories for everyone this year through this wholesome ship! 😊🤝💞

🌈 Date: April 20th - April 26th, 2025. Each day will have a theme, you can also submit work out of order, or only work for the specific themes you want. Late submissions are always accepted! You can still submit after 1-2 months after the event ends or anytime later, there is no deadline.

🌈 Submissions: fanarts, sketches, doodles, comics, fanfics, drabbles, photos, crafts, cosplays etc. You can submit on X / Twitter, Tumblr, Bluesky or AO3. It's doesn't matter the medium or size in which you show your submissions! Everything is WELCOME as long as it mainly features the couple of Spiritshipping JohanxJudai /JessexJaden. 💎🍤

If you're participating doing fanfics for this event, please share the link for your work and also add it to our AO3 collection.

It's a day late but I'm happy to have finished it

Wanted to play around with my 5YL Judai design again this year but also the fact that August 31st is also Miku's birthday too

Ended up looking at the 2023 magical mirai design after the restream of the final Tokyo show and the vibe felt right so yeah I Stole it to put him in!

Day 7: Free day/Jaden’s birthday @gxweek

Hey everyone. Sorry this was late. For Jaden’s birthday, I’m pulling out all the stops. I made an edit of him and posted it on my YouTube channel. I’m posted part 3 of chapter 1 for Yu-Gi-Oh GX: the aftermath and last but not least I posted a story about celebrating Jaden’s birthday that I made last year. So yeah those are my birthday presents to Jaden.

I can imagine he’s having the time of his life right now. Thank you for joining me in this event and supporting me as this was my first time joining GX week. I hope to be part of this amazing event next year. 🥹🫶🏾

A Choice to Make

Prompt: Free Day + Jaden’s Birthday

“So, under all that is the Sun-Cryst?” Chazz questions as the group arrive at the top of the tower.

“Seems like it.” Axel answers. “But how to remove all that?”

“Maybe that blade we got from the Neo-Spacians can do the trick.” Jim guesses.

Jaden stares at the veils as he approaches it, carrying the two swords he acquired during the quest. One, The Sword of Kings, left by the Supreme King locked within a tomb and the other, The Treaty Blade, he received from the Neo-Spacians to cut new shards from the Sun-Cryst.

“The Supreme King stood here. With this sword he cut the Sun-Cryst. And took its power in his hand.”

“But you’re gonna destroy the Sun-Cryst. Aren’t you Jaden?” Alexis asks worriedly.

Jaden sighs, a smile on his face and his tone quiet. “No interrupting Lex.”

With a deep breath, the Treaty Blade started glowing. He raised it up and magick surround the party.

When the dust settled, the veil disappeared and the stone exposed.

As Jaden approached, he was halted by an illusion. Unlike in the past where only he could see it, the rest of the group now could too. Aster recognized the image immediately.

“Lord Zane!!”

Lord Zane, Jaden’s beloved who died at the hands of the empire.

“You want revenge. You want me to use the stone?”

The illusion said nothing but smile and extended its hand.

“You want me to destroy the empire? Is this my duty?! Is this what you want?! I…I can’t do that.”

“Why hesitate?”

The group turn to the direction of the familiar voice, watching the figure emerge from behind a wall.

Judge Daichi.

“Take what is yours. The Cryst is a blade, it was meant for you. Wield it. Avenge your father!”

Jaden looked at the Judge angrily, feeling that loss and rage all over again.

“Yes, it was I who wore Aster’s face, who cut down the life of Japan. Sir Jaden, your father’s murderer is here!”

“You!”

“And Atticus!” Alexis screams as she steps forward, practically ready to lunge at the man who killed her brother. Jesse also stepped forward, prepared to defend both Jaden and Alexis.

“I slew your king! I slew your country! Do these deeds not demand vengeance?!” Judge Daichi spoke, revealing his weapon.

Jaden drops the Sword of Kings and tightens his hold on the Treaty Blade. Deciding then to make the new shards.

“Yes! Good! Find your wrath! Take up your sword and fight! Serve those who have died before you!”

The Judge goes to strike at Alexis, but Jesse’s quick to defend her and push the Judge back. But he just aims at Jesse, who gets knocked down and as Judge Daichi goes for the kill, Chazz blocks.

“A Judge Magister there was.” he spoke. “Two years past, he took the Midnight Shard in his hand, and used it not knowing the consequences. And Nabudis was blown away. Viper ordered this of him, to learn the power of the nethicite. He swore never to let power like that be used again. He gave up the Judicer’s plate…and his name.

Judge Daichi jumps back at the realization. “Judge Manjoume!”

“It’s been too long Daichi. Reach out your hand Sir Jaden. Remember, that which you must grasp is something beyond revenge, something greater than despair. Something beyond OUR reach. Try as we might Daichi history’s chains bind us too tightly.”

The two go at it before Judge Daichi knocks Chazz to the ground.

“No, we cannot escape the past. This man is living proof. What is your past Son of Japan? Did you not swear revenge? Do the dead not demand it?!”

Jaden is confused. He looks at the illusion of Zane while hearing Alexis pick up one of Chazz’s blades and Jesse standing beside her. He turns to look at them, who in turn look back at him. They could see the confusion in his eyes, Alexis’ face softening from anger to concern. Jaden looks back at the illusion, who had its arms wide open towards him.

“…Zane, my prince. Our time was short. But I do know this. You would never go for base revenge!” He then slashes the illusion with the Treaty Blade. “The Zane I knew…is gone.”

The illusion then spoke, but it was not Zane’s voice talking to Jaden. But the voice of Aqua Dolphin.

“You were our saint Jaden Yuki. You have to use the nethicite. You must strengthen history’s weave!”

Jaden slashes the illusion again to make it vanish. “I’m not a false saint to do as you please!”

“Jay..” Jesse mumbles.

“In all Japan’s long history, not once did we rely on the Dusk Shard. Our people decided never to use it even if it was needed. That is the Japan I wanted back.” He then drops the Treaty Blade, resolve in his voice. “If I use the stone now, it would betray all of that.” He turns to his companions. “I’m destroying the Sun-Cryst!”

“You claim no need of power?” Judge Daichi spoke. “What of your broken kingdom’s shame? The dead deserve justice!”

“You’re wrong.” Alexis starts. “What would change? I can’t help my brother now. He’s dead!”

“Even with power we cannot change what has passed. What is done, is done.” Jaden says before dropping the Dawn Shard towards the Judge Magister.

“Yet without power, what future can you claim? What good a kingdom you cannot defend?”

“Then I’ll defend king and kingdom both.” Aster announces as he steps up to his younger brother.

“Ha! Defend? You? You who failed Landis and Japan! What can shame hope to keep safe? Your shield is shattered! Your oaths poison those you would protect!”
