I have been exploring the presence of Sanatana Dharma throughout the world through this blog for the past ten years and I have been able to find the Vedic presence throughout the world in the Form of Indian kings,Tamil references, Vedic practices,Indian legends,cultural similarities, linguistic affinities of these areas with Sanskrit ,Tamil and archeological finds around the world.

The earliest civilizations like Sumerian,Assyrian,Akkadian,Elamite,Mayan , Aztec and Egypt…

All trace their origins back to Sanatana Dharma / Tamil.

In the context of the present article,Lord Rama,Dasaratha and Bharatha are found in the Sumerian Tablet,Kings List of Sumeria;On ,the Vedic prayer is found;there is Rama’s Chapel in Ur,Iraq;Hindu kings ruled over Sumeria;

Angirasa founder of pre Sumerian Civilization .

Now further evidence in the form of Cuneifom in UR, Sumeria using Vedic practice of marking oral recitation,Kusi.

When one studies ancient History,it is to be borne in mind that the landmass then was different from what it is today.Over a period of thousands of years,the landmass shifted due to Tectonic plates’ movement.In the process some landmass was submerged in water and some new landmass was created.The formation of Himalayan Mountains belong to the latter category,when it arose when the plates pressed against each other and new mountain rose.In the earlier category,some lands got submerged in the ocean.Lemuria and MU belong to such lands that got submerged.MU civilization bordered the Lemurian land.Both Lemuria and MU were peopled by Tamils.LemuriaLemuria MU civilizations

The term MU,is from Tamil.The prefix MU is used in Tamil to indicate ‘ very old’This ancient reference is made about the old cities of Tamils, Madurai Moothur,and Vanchi Moothur.

Vanchi Moothur was the capital of Chera kings,who were one of the three ancient dynasties that ruled over Tamil land in ancient times.The Landmass of Lemuria/MU included the present Egypt.Ramayana speaks of the Tamils,so also the Puranas.’

Now the Tamil Kingdoms of Chera, Chola and Pandyas are described by Sugreeva to Hanuman and Angadason of Vaali, when Sugreeva directs them to routes to be taken by themthe places to search for Sita, who was kidnapped by Ravana.

These verses appear in the Valmiki Ramayana.

Egypt on Thursday unveiled two archaeological discoveries in Luxor including an industrial zone at the southern city’s West Valley, also known as the Valley of the Monkeys.

Egyptian archaeologists have discovered 30 workshops in the industrial area, the Ministry of Antiquities said in a statement. The area is “composed of houses for storage and the cleaning of the funerary furniture with many potteries dated to Dynasty 18,” the excavation team’s leader, Zahi Hawass, said in the statement.

The team had been working in the Valley of the Monkeys, which is located at Luxor’s western bank of the Nile, since 2017….

The team also discovered a tomb in Luxor’s East Valley, also known as the Valley of Kings, where it found “the tools that the ancient Egyptians used to construct a royal tomb,” Hawass said. The East Valley contains famous royal tombs.

The discoveries are the latest in a series of major findings of ancient relics that Egypt hopes will revive a tourist business that has been hit by political instability.

What is The Gotra If You Do Not Know

Gotra system prevailing in India is a system of linking one to his ancestors.

It is also one’s identity.

Gotra is referred to for all family functions, both auspicious and inauspicious.

It is one of the parameters for fixing marriages.

Gotra also let’s one to know which Veda,Branch one belongs to.

I have written on Gotra and list of Gotras of Brahmins,Vaisyas and Kshatriyas.

Gotras have one,Two,Three ,Five or Seven Rishis in the Pravara.

Caste

The Varnas,wrongly called as Castes are based on Disposition and Character.

Not By Birth.

Each has Gotras.

Many Rishis occur in different Gotras.

This is because at times,the profession/ conduct of the Rishi changes.

Accordingly,the offspring from the Rishi,is assigned a Gotra based on the character, Conduct, Disposition of the Rishi at the time of the conception of the child.

Thus,we find Kausika and Vishwamitra Gotras,though both denote Viswamitra.

Viswamitra was a Kshatriya by Disposition,as he was a king;he was assigned the Brahmana Varna on his realisation of Brahman.

So we have two Gotras under him.

And as later development,people have started using the Geographical locations,their professons as a part of their name.

This had resulted in confusion about one’s Gotra.

It is difficult to trace the gotra when all the above are mixed up.

Since people change professions,their Gotras change, though the founder is one of the Seven Eternal Rishis.

These Rishis change for Each Manvantara.

For the present Manvantara,Vaiwasvatha,the Seven Rishis are,

Atri,

Bhrigu

Kutsa,

Vasishta,

Gautama,

Kashyap and Angirasa.

All Gotras originate from these Rishis.

When one’s gotra is not clear or one does not know the Gotra,it is customary to assign Kasyapa Gotra as he is the progenitor of both Mankind and Devas.

For those who do not know their Gotras, either because the family lost knowledge of the same, or if a person became an orphan in childhood – the Gotra and Pravara of the family purohita becomes their Gotra.

आचार्यगोत्रप्रवरानभिज्ञस्तु द्विजः स्वयम् |

दत्त्वात्मानं तु कस्मैचित्तद्गोत्रप्रवरो भवेत् ||

Another solution given in the shastras is to accept the Kashyapa Gotra since the Shrutis declare Kashyapa as the forefather of all humanity.

गोत्रस्यत्वपरिज्ञाने काश्यपं गोत्रमुच्यते |

यस्मादाह श्रुतिः सर्वाः प्रजाः कश्यपसंभवाः ||

There is also a practice of assigning Vishnu Gotra to people who belong to Kshatriya Varna and Jambu Maharishi Gotra to Vaisyas.

And there is the practice of assigning Siva Gotra to one who worships Siva.

Which Smriti To Be Followed For Present Age, Not Manu

I have written on the Smritis,Laws governing Hindu Society.

Laws undergo change with changing Times.

Our present Laws get changed, including The Constitution quite frequently in a short span of Time.

Hinduism takes Time Span on a larger scale,the present Aeon ,Kali Yuga lasting for a period of 4,32,000 years and the earlier one Dwapara Yuga 8,64,000 years!

And we have two more earlier Yugas,Treta and Krutha Yugas.

Yugas

The religious texts of Hindus are classified into two types.

Sruthi,that which is ‘Heard, and ‘Smriti’,that which is remembered.

Vedas are called Sruthi and their authority is final in case of a conflict between Sruthi and Smriti.

Since Hindu texts are transmitted orally and never by written words,there are,at times differences in the number of texts available .

So,there are two versions regarding Smritis.

One lists Eleven Smritis and some Eighteen.

Though it is said that Many Smriti is the first one,being compiled by the first Human,Manu,all Smritis disappear with the dissolution of the world.

They come into being when new Time scale or creation manifests.

Vyasa,the great Complier,the name Vyasa means ‘Compiler’.

He declares that Manu Smriti is not meant for the present Time scale, Kaliyuga.

The Smriti to be followed for the present Yuga,Kali, is Parasara Smriti.

There are variations between Manu and Parasara Smriti.

I shall write on some important points from Parasara Sruthi.

'The author of the Veda there is none ; (he) the four- faced (God) , at each succeeding revolution of a Kalpa, re- calls to mind the Veda ; and so does Manu remember the

law (at each succeeding revolution of a Kalpa) .

22. ” In conformity to the character of the age, the rules of law (suitable) for men differ from age to age. The rules for the Krita differ from the Treta rules ; the Dvapara laws are not identical with the Kali rules.

23. ” Self-mortification is the rule in the Krita age ; knowledge is said (to be the same) in the Treta ; in the Dvapara, (they) say sacrifice (to the gods to be) the sole

(rule) ; and charity alone in the Kali age.

24. ” For the Krita are suited the laws of Manu ; for the Treta, those by Gautama (are) prescribed ; for the Dvapara those by Shank and Likhita ; for the Kali, those by Parasara are prescribed. ‘

‘The Smritis are named after them. We have Manu Smriti or Manava Dharma-Sastra (the Laws of Manu or the Institutes of Manu), Yajnavalkya Smriti and Parasara Smriti. Manu is the greatest law-giver of the race. He is the oldest law-giver as well. The Yajnavalkya Smriti follows the same general lines as the Manu Smriti and is next in importance to it. Manu Smriti and Yajnavalkya Smriti are universally accepted at the present time as authoritative works all over India. Yajnavalkya Smriti is chiefly consulted in all matters of Hindu Law. Even the Government of India are applying some of these laws.

There are eighteen main Smritis or Dharma Sastras. The most important are those of Manu, Yajnavalkya and Parasara. The other fifteen are those of Vishnu, Daksha, Samvarta, Vyasa, Harita, Satatapa, Vasishtha, Yama, Apastamba, Gautama, Devala, Sankha-Likhita, Usana, Atri and Saunaka.

The laws of Manu are intended for the Satya Yuga, those of Yajnavalkya are for the Treta Yuga; those of Sankha and Likhita are for the Dvapara Yuga; and those of Parasara are for the Kali Yuga.

The laws and rules which are based entirely upon our social positions, time and clime, must change with the changes in society and changing conditions of time and clime. Then only the progress of the Hindu society can be ensured.‘

  One unique fact about Hinduism is the personal bond between God and the Individual.

God,called Iswara is a concept that evolved after the Vedas.

Vedas speak of Reality as a principle beyond mind,names and forms.

As it is difficult to follow this method by all,this method is called Nirguna Aradhana,Vedas also allow worship of Personal God as one of the methods to realise Self.

This is called Saguna Aradhana.

This provides an emotional connect between Man and God.

When all said and done,human beings are ruled more by heart,emotions than by Reason.

After all God is an experience.

One can feel God ,not Know God,in the Cognitive Sense.

And in practising these two methods,what is important is the faith and the Experience of God or Reality.

A realized soul has no Gender, religion race or creed.

As a matter of record Hinduism is not a Religion.

It is a set of tried out practices and it is a way of Life.

So it is not surprising to find the Devotees of God in Hinduism cut across race,creed ,religion and gender.

Ranganatha ,Form of Vishnu at Srirangam,Tamil Nadu

It is interesting to note that Lord Ranganatha,The presiding deity at Sri Rangam,is attired in Muslim tradition with Lungi,and the offerings to Him are Roti and Butter on specific days.

And there is a Lady Devotee called Thulukka Nachiar,who is worshipped in Srirangam.

Legend has it that when Muslim invaders looted Srirangam temple and took away the Utsavar Idol to Delhi, it was brought back later by Ramanujacharya , according to one version.

The Daughter of the Sultan could not bear the separation from the lord’s Idol.

She came to Srirangam and attained the feet of Vishnu as Ranganatha.

To honour this devotee,she is called Thulukka Nachiar,meaning Turkish Consort.

While traditionally Perumal is seen in Vishnu temples with Mothers Sridevi and Bhoodevi, Mother Ranganayaki Thayar in the temple is a procession deity with Sridevi and Bhoodevi behind Her in the same shrine. During arati to Mother, drum instruments are also played.

· Daughter of a king of Delhi was too devoted to the Lord. To remember her, Lord is dressed with Lungi the Muslim dhoti. Roti is offered as nivedhana on Ekadasi and new moon days and people worship calling her “Thulukka Nachiyar”.

Later the term included all Muslims.

However the information that her name was Surthani and she was the daughter of Malikkafur does not check out.

Thulukka Nachiar did exist,though it needs painstaking hunt to find the historical information.

She was the daughter of Masood,The Third, of Ghazanvi Dynasty.’

My take is that the historical fact relating to Melkote is used at Srirangam.

There is a lot of controversies about Ramanujarcharya where facts are interpolated with incorrect information.

I shall be writing on this in a series of articles.

8.4 MILLION SPECIES OF LIFE

According to the Vedas, there are 8.4 million species of life and the conditioned soul is continuously passing through the different species according to his karma, under divine supervision. The Bhagavad Gita (2.22) says that just as one gives up an old shirt to put on a new one, the soul gives up an old body to acquire a new kind of body (vasāmsi jirnāni yathā vihāya). Thus there are 8.4 million (84 lakh) types of bodies, out of which the soul assumes a body at the time of death.

If one spends his lifetime in sense gratification, then one may become a cat or dog. If one is attached to eating meat, he gets the body of a tiger wherein he gets full facility for eating flesh without the encumbrance of cleaning and cooking the meat. If one’s stock of pious activities is high, then he gets elevated to the heavenly planets, where he gets the body of a demigod (devatā). However all the bodies within the ambit of the 8.4 milion species, including that of the demigods, are subject to birth and death. All such bodies have a limited period of life, after which one has to give it up to assume a new body. This process of giving up one type of body and assuming a new one is called death. It is pertinent to note that it is the body that dies and not the spirit soul, who is occupying the body.

We are not these bodies but individual spirit souls occupying our respective bodies. I am occupying my body and you are occupying your body, just as you are residing in your house and I am residing in my house. This does not mean that I am the house. I am different from my house. Similarly I am not the body but I am the spirit soul, who is residing within the body. When the body becomes old, I (the spirit soul) have to leave the body just as I have to leave my house, when it is destroyed, to occupy a new one.

The new house that I will occupy will depend on the bank balance that I possess – if I have huge amount of money I can buy a palace or conversely, if I have limited resources, I may have to contend with a lowly hut. Similarly, the body that we will get after giving up the present body will depend upon our stock of past karma (activities). If we have a stock of sinful activities we will have to assume an animal’s body or even lower forms whereas if we have a stock of pious activities we may get a human or a super-human body (demigod’s body). When the house is destroyed, it does not mean its residents are also dead; they leave the old house and occupy a new house.

Thus we can understand that when the body is dead (destroyed), the soul is not destroyed. It leaves the dead body and occupies a new body. The spirit soul is eternal and immortal, i.e. it neither dies nor takes birth (na hanyate hanyamane sarire: Bg. 2.20)

We get information from the Padma Purana that the 8.4 million species of life are divided into six groups, namely acquatics, trees, insects, birds, animals and humans. There are nine hundred thousand (9 lakh) types of acquatics, two million (20 lakh) types of trees, 1.1 million types of insects, a million types of birds, three million types of animal bodies and four hundred thousand types of human bodies. These aggregate to 8.4 million.

All the bodies within the ambit of the 8.4 million species are sure to degenerate and ultimately die. Therefore one who is really intelligent understands the futility of all the activities that one carries out during his lifetime, the results of which will be finished at the time of death. Therefore he tries to understand the real purpose of human life and when he makes such an inquiry, the Supreme Lord, Who is seated within his heart, guides him on the transcendental path, where he understands that one has to get out of this cycle of 8.4 million species of life.

Liberation (mukti) means putting a stop to the journey within the cycle of 8.4 million species. When one breaks this cycle, one is liberated from repeated birth and death, and is transferred to the spiritual sky, where he gets an eternal body. This body that he gets in the spiritual world is free from birth and death, because it is made of sat (eternity), cit (knowledge) and ananda (bliss). Once we reach the spiritual realm, there is no chance of our falling back into the miserable cycle of 8.4 million species of life [yad gatva na nivartante: Bg. 15.6]

The chanting of the holy names of God, viz. Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare/ Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare, is the sure shot remedy to get out from the miserable cycle of 8.4 million species of life.

कई लोगों को बस,कार,प्लेन में यात्रा में उल्टी आती हैं और वह यात्रा करने से ही घबराते हैं,पर मजबूरी में यात्रा करनी ही पड़ती हैं। वैसे तो इस समस्या के कई उपाय हैं,पर एक उपाय बहुत आसान और प्रभावी है।

🍀उपाय

यात्रा पर जब निकलें तो उसी दिन के किसी भी अखबार (अंग्रेजी का हो तो अच्छा)के 2 अंदर के पूरे पन्ने साथ रख लें। बस,कार, प्लेन में बैठते ही या चलना शुरू करते ही अखबार के पन्नों को मसल कर गेंद जैसी बना लें और उसे 2-3 बार अच्छी तरह सूंघ लें,फिर अखबार के पन्नों को खोल कर,सीधा करके,अपनी सीट पर बिछा कर उस पर बैठ जाएं। उल्टी नहीं आएंगी। 🍀🌻 कालरा अजमेर 🌻🍀

🌹अद्भुत उपाय – दस्त 🌹

प्रबल पानी की भाँति, नदी के वेग के समान दस्त।

🍀उपाय

30 ग्राम या आवश्यकतानुसार सूखे आंवले को पानी में खूब बारीक पीस लें और लुगदी बना लें। रोगी को चित्त लेटा दें। रोगी की नाभि के चारों ओर उस लुगदी का कुंआ सा गोलाकार घेरा बना दें। नाभि बीच में खाली रहे। इस घेरे में तुरंत अदरक का रस भर दें और रोगी को 15-20 मिनट चित्त लेटा रहने दें। इस क्रिया से बिना औषिधि खाए भयंकर से भयंकर अत्यंत प्रबल पानी की भाँति और न रुकने वाले नदी के वेग के समान तथा समुद्र के समान हिलोरे मारते दस्त भी रुक जाते हैं।

अगर आंवले न हो तो आटे की लुगदी बना कर उसमे अदरक का रस भरें।
