Love is scary, love is bright then cloudy all at the same time. You feel things you’ve never felt and you see things in a way you’ve never seen or observered before. Loving someone is hard because you feel like you can never get enough, and that might be the scariest thing of all. Once they are gone you can’t see touch or be around them ever again and that’s intricate and scary all at once.

Y/n pulled her socks up as she grabbed her backpack then rushed out the door, one quick “bye!” To her mom and she was walking out the door and onto the gravel outside her trailer. She pulled on her headphones and played music through her Walkman. After a semi long walk she finally made it to school where she quickly got everything for first period.

“Ugh I hate this class” I walked to the front and sat down at my desk, I looked over and saw my best friend, Eddie. “Hey y/n!” Eddie greeted me and my heart beat a little faster, I smiled back and looked away hoping he didn’t see my slightly red face. “Okay welcome back how was everybody’s weekend?” My teacher asked as he walked to the front and began the lesson.

It was just the beginning of lunch and i grabbed my lunch, then decided I’d sit with Chrissy and her boyfriend today, I usually switched between Chrissy’s table and Eddie’s table. “ hey y/n!” Chrissy said as I sat down. “Heyy girl how was your weekend?” I said grabbing the fork off my lunch tray. “Oh it was great, speaking of weekends how about we have a girls night this weekend?!!” Chrissy squealed excitedly as I took a bite of my food. “Hmm Iet me check my schedule” I said sarcastically as I whipped out my wrist and faked looking at a watch “looks like I’m open” I said as Chrissy giggled. “Great okay I’ll pick you up after school on Friday” Chrissy exclaimed as her boyfriend Jason kissed her on the cheek. “Oh my god cut the shit Jason” I thought to myself as I rolled my eyes and faked a smile.

I finished my food and stood up to go dump my trey, I saw out the corner of my eye Eddie staring at me, goosebumps ran down my arms but I pretended not to notice. I dumped my trey then sat back down and looked around for something to do while I waited for the bell to ring. I felt eyes burning a hole through the back of my head and turned around to see Eddie staring, our eyes met and I couldn’t help but feel heat rush up my neck, I looked away quickly and noticed Will and Mike walking up to my table.

I turned my attention toward them at they neared my table. “Y/nnn why didn’t you sit with us today??” Will asked pouting at me. “Aww well you know I need a break from you goobers once and a while” I said as I rubbed my fist against Mikes head. “Owww stop it y/n!” Mike yelled at me and I let him go. “Tell you what, I’ll sit with you tomorrow okay?” I asked Will as he smiled cheekily at me. “Yay okay fine but bring snacks!” Will yelled back at me as they both started walking away. “Will do!” I yelled back as the bell rang.

The bell for 7th period had just rang and I speed-walked to my locker to put some stuff away. After finishing what I had to grab and put in a slammed my locker but was alarmed by the fact that Eddie was standing there the whole time.”Jesus Eddie you trying to kill me?” I asked as I slung my backpack on my shoulder.”well.. maybe just a lil” Eddie said as he trailed behind me. He cleared his throat loudly.”so…uhh want a ride home?” Eddie asked looking sweaty for some reason.”don’t you hand DnD or whatever you do after school?” I asked as we exited the school doors.”is that a no?” Eddie asked looking shocked.” Lead the way” I said smiling at his confused face. When we got their he held the door open for me.” Welcome milady”. Eddie exclaimed in a fancy voice.” Why thank you great sir”. I said in a French voice. I snickered then we drove off.

“This is not the first time you’ve been in here Y/n” I told myself as my heart beat quicker than usual. “Yeah but it IS the first time you’ve been in here, alone” I argued with myself as my heart beat picked up at the thought. “ don’t you have some kids to pick up?” I asked looking over at him.” No actually and since we both live in the trailer park I thought this would be more convenient”. Eddie said smiling. “ oh okay well are you sure you don’t want any money for gas?”. I asked cautiously.” No y/n I told you already, its a pleasure being able to drive such a cutie home anyway”. I blushed and quickly looked away, then I noticed how close we had gotten to my trailer.”thanks for driving me Eddie, I really appreciate it you know.” “HE CALLED ME CUTE! “ my thoughts roared inside my head. “Good….” Eddie paused.“I’ll always be here you know”. Eddie said as we pulled up to my trailer. I got out and waved to Eddie as I walked up my driveway.

That night I hadn’t got much sleep

The next morning I was done getting ready, just putting my shoes on when I heard a beep outside my house. “What the hell” I said out loud as I exited my house. As soon as my eyes met that rusty- white van my face lit up instantly. I jogged to the passenger window and greeted Eddie. “ well good morning to you mister chauffeur” I said smiling.“ well hop in and don’t make us late”. Eddie said. I opened the door and hopped in, then I was met with many screams from the back. I whipped my head back too see, Lucas, Will, Dustin, and mike. “How did you all fit back there??”. I asked bewildered.” It’s a secret”. Dustin said as he smiled, I saw his cute teeth-less smile and laughed. “ you guys make it so hard to choose favorite’s you know that?”. I said as I messed up Dustin’s hair.

Meanwhile Eddie was smiling furiously.

We all got to school in time and I got out then jogged to the doors.

(Time skip)

Lunch had just began and I got my tray of food, than waved to Chrissy as I started walking away.” Be careful over there y/n!” Jason yelled at me as I walked away, ignoring him. I reached Eddie’s table and sat down at the empty seat reserved for me when I sat over here. “ welcome back y/n!”. Everyone greeted me as I sat down. “Hey !”. I greeted as I took a bite of my green bean. “ so how’s Jason?”, Jeff asked sourly, I stuck up my middle finger as I snuck a look at Eddie, but he was already looking at me. My heart beat quickened and it felt like it’d burst from how fast it was beating. I looked away and took a drink of my milk to calm my nerves, it didn’t seem to help though.”I-I’m gonna use the bathroom”. I said as I pointed.”you alright?”. Eddie asked me, I just nodded and rushed away

WHILE YOU WERE IN THE BATHROOM

.” Dude something’s been up with her”. Gareth pointed out smirking at Jeff. .” Yeah I agree I just don’t know what”. Eddie agreed staring at the girls bathroom you had disappeared into. “ yeah hopefully she’s okay”. Will said sadly .”what if she’s sick?”. Dustin asked obviously scared of the idea.” The Flu has been going around lately”. Mike pointed out making Will gasp loudly. A couple minutes later you reappeared from the bathroom after splashing some cold water on yourself and chilling. “ are you okay y/n?? Is it the Flu? Oh my god what if it’s the Flu”. Will asked worriedly clutching onto your arm. “ calm down Will!! I’m okay just got a little hot you know”. You said relaxing into your seat.” Plus I could never miss a day without seeing you and you’re cute pout”. You said grabbing at Wills cheeks .”Stopp it y/nnn!”. Will whined swatting at your hands. The bell rang and that signaled the end of lunch.

You were walking out to Eddie’s van like usual, you hopped in then took off. “ so what’s your favorite band?”. You asked Eddie as you slightly turned down his music. “ hmm that’s a tough one but I’d say… maybe Metallica or AC/DC”. Eddie answered smiling .” His eyes they look like pure chocolate, like bronze marbles.” You turned down your thoughts then realized you were staring at Eddie still. “ so y/n wanna I don’t know maybe come to a practice with the band tomorrow night?”. Eddie asked and you smiled excitedly.” Oh. My. God. YES”. You said a little too excited, you cleared your throat awkwardly.” I mean yeah sure”. You said again. “ wow if I knew you’d be that excited I’d invite you earlier”. Eddie teased making you blush a bit .” Oh shut up munson.” You said giving him a glare .” Yes ma’am”. He said laughing a little bit. Eddie dropped you off at your house then took off.

You found your self thinking about those brownie-smooth eyes when you were supposed to be studying that night.

(FAST FORWARD TO REHERSAL NIGHT)

You dialed your moms number on the school- provided phone knowing she’d be home from her shift at the liquor store. “ hey honey what’s goin on?”. Your mom asked as she greeted you warmly.” Well I was just calling to ask if it was okay to go to my friends band rehearsal tonight?”. You asked crossing your fingers behind your back. “ that’s fine as long as you make dinner tomorrow”. Your mom said giggling.” Okay but since I’m so lucky I’ll pick up a frozen lasagna, how does that sound?”. You asked quickly .” Sounds perfect well I’ll see you tonight!”. Your mom said .” Alright love you”. Your mom said it back then you hung up and went to your next class.

You and the band hitched a ride with Eddie in his van. “ so why didn’t I get to sit up front again?”. Gerath asked sarcastically behind you .” Because your not special like y/n, she’s a guest remember?”. Eddie shot back as he pulled up to gerathes garage. “ this is gonna be so cool!”. You said as you jumped out of the van. “ gerathes mom even makes us snacks”. Eddie whispered to you, the closeness was a bit too much to take so you walked over to a empty seat in the corner of the garage. “ alright guys are we gonna work on the same song we been practicing?”. Eddie asked as he shot you a smile. “ well I would think so”. Jeff said sarcastically .” Oh hush up buttercup”. Eddie shot back making you giggle in the corner, his warm brown eyes met yours and for a moment you felt like your stomach would burst, but when he looked away your heart sank and you couldn’t understand it, “just pay attention okay y/n?”. You told yourself as they started practicing.

About an hour had passed, sometimes you’d clap just to let them know they were doing good, you enjoyed the preformence but started feeling crabby. Then like magic Gareths mom appears with a trey of cookies and baked goods. “ wow thanks “. You said as you stood up and took a cookie from the trey. “ all in a days work” gareths mom said back smiling as she walked back inside. You and Eddie spent most of the break chatting and making fun gerath and his wonky front tooth. After the break you asked how much longer they were going to take. “ oh just a half an hour I have to get you home afterwards remember?”. Eddie said as he took your cookie and bit it .” Okay well I have to stop at the grocery store just for milk and things, if that’s okay of course!”, you said hoping he wouldn’t get too mad. “ no your fine, plus that’s just more time to be with you”. Eddie said as he winked playfully and walked away. Your blood felt like it all rushed to your face at the same time, you put a hand up to your cheek and realized how hot it was, “ pull your shit together y/n !!!”. You internally screamed at yourself but enjoyed the session none the less.

Eddie had just dropped Jeff off and made it to the store ten minutes before it closed .” Thanks again”. You said as you opened the door .” Hey do you want me to go in with you?”. Eddie asked, hoping you’d say yes .” Whatever makes you happy”. You say as you close your door and head inside, Eddie trailing behind you. “ so do you have a job or something?”. Eddie asked as you stroll down the frozen section. “ yeah I work with Joyce buyers here part-time and she gives me time off when I watch Will”. You say as you grab the lasagna. “Why?”. You ask turning to face him. “ oh no reason just wonderin”. He said as his lips curled into a smile .” Oh “. You say as you walk to the milk isle and pick up a jug .” I can hold something for you, you know”. Eddie pointed at the milk .” Whatever makes you feel good about yourself”. You say smirking .” Well now I’m not sure I wanna help you anymore”. Eddie fought as he put a hand on his heart and pretended to scoff .” Okay okay fine yes you can hold it”. You say patting his arm softly then walking up to the register. You payed then made your way to the van. You made it home and before you could hop out the van, Eddie grabbed your arm softly. You turned to face him and he let go, the loss of contact made your heart sink. “ hey so… what are you doing this weekend?”. Eddie asked awkwardly.” Well I’m uh having a girls weekend with Chrissy”. You say gulping a thick shot of saliva .” Oh okay just checking”. Eddie said. “ why did his tone sound…. Devastated?”. You shot down the idea as you walked through the door.

(Fast forward to going to Chrissys house)

I packed a night bag the day before so I was ready for the time to go except for one thing. I kinda forgot to tell my mom about it until just now. “Yikes” I thought as I entered the kitchen where my mom was. “ sooo mom”. I said awkwardly leaning against the counter top. “ I uh forgot to mention that I was going to go to a friends house, so I wanna ask now”. You say looking down in embarrassment. “ well I don’t wanna stop you from going, just tell me before you go next time”. Your mom warned and you jumped up and gave her a hug. “ thank you sooo much”. You hugged your mom then walked out the door.

“ I should have asked Eddie for a ride” you thought as you kicked some rocks along the sidewalk. “ nah I can’t keep burning up his gas” you argued with yourself and thought about Eddie the whole time until you got to her house. When you got their dinner had just gotten done so you ate dinner with her and her family. Things were going smoothly, you ate snacks, painted nails, and even gossiped a little. The party was fun until you started winding down. “ so y/n who’s your…. Crush?”. Chrissy asked. “ I uh don’t know what you mean.” You say slightly confused .” Y/n! Do you not know what a crush is??”. Chrissy asked making your brows furrow in confusion. “ I mean I sorta do”. You correct unsure of how much truth that is. “ I’ll explain it into further detail”. Chrissy confirmed. For the next half an hour Chrissy went on and on about how she feels about Jason and how her stomach twists when he holds her hand, how when he kissed her, her stomach feels like there’s a million butterflies in it, how her heart sinks when he talks to other girls, how she gets greedy for his attention. Throughout the discussion you started slowly putting the dots together. You couldn’t help but relate to these feelings but the who the feelings were for you were scared of. “ I can’t tell her”. You thought as you pouted “ yeah I feel bad for not telling her but.. I wanna make sure it’s real” you agree, you need to test this theory for yourself then tell her, “hopefully she doesn’t go telling her boyfriend”. You go to bed peaceful that night but kept thinking about these overwhelming feelings.

You woke up the next morning and ate breakfast with her family, afterwards you asked to use their landline and called Eddie. “ hello?”. Eddie asked over the phone .” Hi Eddie”. You say back, the smile obvious in your voice. “ hey y/n what’s up”. Eddie asked, your stomach fluttered when it heard your name .” Well I was just wondering if it wasn’t too much of a pain, could I maybe get a ride home from chrissys house?”. You asked nervously knowing you may walk back home.” Yeah sure I’ll be their in five”. Eddie said smiling. “ thank you so so much”. You say as you hang up. You turned around to see Chrissy leaning against the wall next to the landline. She was giving you the “ I see what’s going on with you” look and you knew she knew instantly. “ it’s him isn’t it”. Chrissy asked smirking.” Huh? What? No I don’t know what your talking about”. You say “wow y/n way to pull it together, she’s obviously gonna know now” you tell your self as you stare back .” Uh huh now go get your man tiger”. Chrissy says as she pushes you out the door. She waved then slammed the door, leaving you to your own devices. As you walked up to Eddie’s van your hands got more and more clammy. “ oh Heyy Eddie”. You laugh nervously as you sit on the seat. “ uhm everything alright??”. Eddie asks concerned.” Yeah everything is amazing”. You say as Eddie starts driving crazily. You make it to your house, you say thank you and wave before heading inside.

The next monday:)

you woke up and decided you wanted to dress cute, as you went through your draws you pulled out your favorite outfit, “ maybe Eddie would like this” you thought as you put it on “ no I should dress nice for me” you shot down the idea as you heard a beep outside. You prepared yourself for Eddie’s reaction and walked confidently to the van. “ wow y/n you look nice”. Eddie compliments as you sit down “. Thanks”. You say back as you head to the school. When you parked you went to get out but Eddie softly grabbed your arm. “ hey uh would you mind sitting with me today?”. Eddie asks innocently .” Yeah sure “. You say as Eddie let’s go of your arm, you suddenly miss the warmth his hand brought as tingles shot through your arm.

At lunch

You stop at chrissys table to chat,” I don’t know why but eddie seemed really needy for me to sit with him today”. You state looking over at him. “ yeah it’s because he obviously likes you “. Chrissy says smirking. Your mouth was hanging open but you tried to hide your shock. “ plus your looking hot today”. Chrissy points at your outfit and you smile .” Thanks Chris”. You say as you walk to the table. When you get their every one greets you.” Wow y/n lookin nice today”. Dustin comments winking slightly.” Yeah I agree”. Mike chimes in making you smile.” Okay okay back off boys”. Eddie says grabbing his sandwich.” Oh what are you gonna do”. Dustin asks as mike shoots him a look.” Oh your trying to be knight and shining armor ay”. Eddie states as he walks up to Dustin “. What couldn’t I do is the real question “. Eddie states as he smirks.” Okay boys chill out now”. You say pushing eddie by his chest. Lunch passed with a lot of weird looks from eddie.

You walked out to the parking lot with Eddie and got in the van. “ hey y/n do you have any plans this weekend?”. Eddie asks .” Nope not really why?”. You ask raising your eyebrows.” Well do you wanna hang out?”. Eddie asks as he pulls up to your house. “ sure I just have to ask”. You say as you walk inside your trailer. You knew you had to ask your mom that night during dinner. Your mom had made lasagna and you were busy thinking about how to ask. “ so mom I was wondering.. could I hang out with Eddie this weekend?”. You ask crossing your fingers. “ sure I don’t care but don’t do nothing bad okay”. Your mom warns as you finish your food.

The next morning you get up early, do your makeup, pick your outfit and shower. (AT EDDIES PLACE) Eddie had taken a shower, dressed better than usual and made his uncle help pick up the place. “ what’s gotten into ya boy?”. His uncle asks confused .” A girls coming over and I need to impress her okay?”. Eddie says throwing random beer cans away. His uncle Wayne had never seen his nephew like this, he even had his hair in a bun to dry before going over, his nephew was putting in effort in his outfit too. Wayne hadn’t even seen Eddie put this amount of effort in his grades so he figured this girl must be special. “ alright it looks nice you have to be to work in an hour right?”. Eddie asks looking up .” Yeah well you have fun kid”. Wayne says as he goes to his room. ( BACK TO YOU) I curled/ straightened my hair too, when i finished getting ready i went outside and saw Eddie in his van with a long sleeve band shirt, black holy jeans, and wet curls. “ hey edds what’s up”. You say as you sit in the seat.” Well I figured we could order pizza later and watch a movie, maybe even play a song on my electric guitar too “. Eddie states as he looks at you with doe eyes. “ sound fun”. You say as you two speed off

(WHEN YOU GET THEIR)

You step out the van to see Eddie’s trailer, it looked pretty close to yours so you walked up to the door with Eddie.” After you milady”. Eddie says in a fake British accent. “ why thank you kind sir”. You say giggling. You walk in to see it pretty clean except some cigarette stains on the couch. “ wow Eddie i didn’t expect it to be this clean”. You say smiling a bit.” Yeah I picked up a few things before leaving”. Eddie says obviously lying. “ so what kind of movies do you have?”. You ask plopping on his couch. “ all kinds which ones your favorite?”. Eddie asks as he shows you all of them.” I want (your favorite)”. You say pointing at the one you want.” Oh that one’s my favorite!”. Eddie says as he jogs over and puts it in. You lean back into the couch and pull a blanket toward you. You snuggle up as Eddie walks over and sits down next to you. “ share some you thief!”. Eddie says jokingly. You give him some and your arms touch. You feel tingles everywhere and just being next to him makes your face redden. “ hey y/n are you ok?”. Eddie says as he reaches a hand to your forehead. You flinch away on instinct.” Whoa do you have a fever or something??”, Eddie asks looking worried .” N-no I’m fine I think”. You say as you sit back. “ are you sure?”. Eddie asks .” Yeah”. You say paying attention to the movie.

An hour later Eddie ordered pizza and asked you what you wanted on it. You told him your toppings and smiled. Y’all waited on the pizza and talked a little bit. After the pizza arrived you two ate and talked. (TIME SKIP A COUPLE HOURS) you started another movie but drifted off during the middle of the movie. Since you were sitting next to Eddie your head dropped on his shoulder on accident.” Y/n are you awake?”. Eddie whispered to you.” Wow she looks so beautiful when she sleeps”, he thought.He didn’t get a response so he turned off the movie and slowly moved your head off his shoulder. He picked you up bridal style slowly and layer you on his bed. He walked out and slept on the couch that night. The next morning you woke up in Eddie’s bed with blankets on you very confused. You wiped your eye boogers and called his name out. Eddie came in sleepily looking confused.” Hey edds”. You say as you smile . “ hi”. He says in a sleepy voice that makes your stomach flip. “ if you want I’ll make breakfast”. You offer as you two walk out his room. “ sure I don’t care”. Eddie says as he helps you find everything. You made a traditional American breakfast and Eddie looked hungry as he sat on the couch. “ hurry upppp”. Eddie whined from the couch .” It will be done in a minute!”. You tell back as you flip the pancakes. You served Eddie the breakfast and sat on the couch with him. He finished his food quickly then complemented your food over and over again. “ Eddie it was easy calm down”. You say with a mouth full of food. “ yeah but it tasted sooo good”. Eddie says as he grabs both your plates. “ it’s now or never y/n”. You think as Eddie sits down. “ uhm Eddie I have something I need to tell you”. You say as you feel a lump form in your throat. “ I uhm I l-like you”. You say as you look away and avoid his eyes. Then you feel his hand grab your chin. He forces you to look at him. His warm brown eyes turned soft at your red face. Then he closed the distence and you closed your eyes, you felt his soft lips on yours and you kissed back, he tasted like maple syrup and weed. The kiss was soft but passionate, he wasn’t aggressive with it but he was kissing you like he wanted to since day one. He pulled away and looked at your red cheeks again. “ does that answer your question?”. Eddie asks smirking.” Y-yeah”. You stutter looking down again.

Hours later Eddie drops you off and you give him a hug good bye. You were now a couple and found out he’s liked you since the beginning of your friendship.
