Do you ever start writing something that you’re excited about and that seems like it’s turning out well and that you’re getting eager to share, and then you start typing it up or doing an edit pass and it’s just awful it’s awful its premise is fundamentally flawed and it’s out of character and the prose is clunky and the plot is badly paced and ludicrous and the whole thing is embarrassing, how could you have done this, how could you have sunk so much time into this, you can’t even look at it, how is this that shining thing you were so excited about, how could you even have considered finishing it let alone sharing it with anyone, you’re crying, your mother is crying, nuns are spontaneously exploding in the streets,

the one i posted were really tiny and i was working anyway on these. it just took me a bit to get it done :D uhm... so here me playing dressup... with yue... again... sorry yue...
if i have to explain mayself... my thought process is basically... yue is the moon. so her dress is either the moon or the enviorment around or below her. and.... you know... fish... -tries not to feel my ex profs glaring at me like "elaborate more dang it"-
also! all these option but if someone tells me to draw yue again i would still give her... a new outfit or just idk... because i can't pick!!!!

when they have 1 working eye between the two of them
[image description: toph and zuko shake hands in front of a pale yellow background. toph is grinning while zuko is smiling softly. between them, above their clasped hands, are the words “blind buddies!” with dynamic lines around it.]

What’s Katara’s Necklace Made From?
Tumblr media
I propose mother of pearl or abalone shell.
Mother of pearl and abalone shell are both composed of nacre, basically layers upon layers of calcium carbonate stuck together with a protein called conchiolin. This gives rise to a crystalline structure that is iridescent, lustrous, incredibly strong, and fracture resistant.
The color varies based on the species of molluscs, it does come in blue/silver hues. Nacre accepts intricate carved designs and is a resource the Northern Watertribe could theoretically have access to, given the quirky fauna populating Avatar-verse.
Yue’s necklace and hair ornaments, and Kya II’s necklace could also be made from shell. I think in particular, recreating Kya’s necklace would be easy since there’s many options for crescent moon pendants. Cosplayers take note?

black mother of pearl koru pendant from JackieTump. Moon pendants from  Fizasagems and Nbeads. The similarities between Katara’s necklace & koru designs has been noted by @atlaculture

Overthinking throwaway lines time: 3x02, The Headband.
Sokka: Come on, Aang, everyone here eats meat. Even the meat!
Tumblr media
This is…baffling. The animals generally kept for meat are either herbivores (cattle, sheep, goats, horses, cuyes, rabbits…) or omnivores that aren't picky and which eat things that humans don't (chickens, pigs). This is for a simple reason: if you're feeding lots of meat to a carnivore to get meat, you'll get more meat for your effort if you just ate the original meat, taking the domesticated carnivore out of the equation. Also, biological magnification means that toxins will accumulate in those carnivore's tissues, and potentially poison the humans eating them. This is generally not considered a good time.
Humans do have domesticated carnivores, but those carnivores are generally domesticated for other reasons—dogs hunt with humans, pull carts, herd animals, and so on. Cats protect grain supplies from pests. They may be eaten in some situations, but they aren't primarily for food the way pigs or cattle or sheep are.
So, Sokka's comment about even the Fire Nation's meat eating meat. Some explanations of what might be going on:
That animal (a blend of a cow and a hippopotamus) is not raised for meat, but is hard at work, possibly as a guard animal.
That meat is spoiled or otherwise unsuitable for humans. It does have flies around it, so it might be that this animal gets the scraps of otherwise human-destined meat. 2a. The meat is ritually unclean—the Fire Nation might have taboos around eating certain animals, but when fed to a different animal, it's fine to eat that different animal.
The meat is a special treat for that animal, and it primarily eats something else—probably grass, like both cattle and hippos.
It is destined for meat, but it's an unusual, luxury meat. Island nations like the Fire Nation don't generally have large land mammals, because island environments don't have enough food to support them. This looks more like an import from the Earth Kingdom.
Some combination of these.
(As a side note, the animal is definitely a female—spot those udders. The pattern of her fur looks like she's based on Holstein/Friesian cattle, the most common breed worldwide. They were bred for both dairy and meat, though they're mostly used for dairy these days because they're such high producers.)
