A school into the woods

Hello everyone. My assigned creature for Hq!! Fantasy exchange 2018 is the wonderful nymph who inhabits the woods, the so called “dryad.” I obviously added a lot of other creatures: fairies, shapeshifters and wizards. You will find all my giftee’s fav ships: Kyouhaba, Daisuga, Kagehina, Terushou and Kageasu. However, I could not disregard my fav ships, which luckily my giftee seems to like as well: Iwaoi, Kurootsukki, Matsuhana. All right, let’s go down to business, folks. We are dealing with a mystery short story: will you be able to tell who’s the culprit? Enjoy your reading :) P.s.: the chapters from 1 to 4 are really short, but they become much longer starting from chapter 5 - Overwhelming.

Chapter 1 - The welcoming speech

Yahaba prided himself on always paying attention to others, on always being polite. He felt awful as he noticed that his distraction was spotted by the student right in front of him. Even worse, the guy clearly was forced to give the welcoming speech, given his perpetual scowl, which, by the way, only deepened every time he glanced at Yahaba.

But Yahaba just couldn’t focus on words when a whirlwind of needles had been prickling underneath his skin for ages, when admiring the vines which decorated the main building of the school wasn’t going to slow down the fading sun. His head slumped down, he tried to slow his breaths.

A hand squeezed his shoulder, “Shige-chan?” “I-” the usual pain rattled him. All went black. “We’ve got you,” someone lifted him and water gave relief to his nocturnal feathers.

Admittedly, it was mainly Suga’s fault. He should have picked the signs of discomfort of his students. Even better, he should have listened to Daishou, at least this time, and let them rest at a local inn so that they could arrive with the sun high in the sky instead of low on the horizon. A bunch of young shapeshifters could not take such a risk, no matter how much trained they were. Moreover, the sinking feeling associated with Tanaka and Noya’s disappearance furtherly impaired the control over their powers and curses.

Chapter 2 - Apologies

“I’m extremely sorry, Sugawara-san.” The headmaster of the “Creatures of the Forest Academy” bowed deeply. "Please, Sawamura-san, this is totally my fault.” Suga flailed his arms in an attempt to break the headmaster’s submissive pose. “ Of course it isn’t. I should have escorted you to your rooms as soon as-” “As soon as we arrived?” Suga’s tone was so soft that Sawamura finally straightened his back. “I suppose we are teachers who aren’t happy to change accurately planned schedules, isn’t it?” “Strangely enough, I agree with my colleague, Sawamura-san,” Daishou snickered. The headmaster didn’t acknowledge Daishou’s remark and addressed Suga once more, “Then, as a sign of newborn friendship, please, call me Daichi.” Both Daichi and Suga’s cheeks grew warm “Of course, Daichi, but only if you call me Suga.”

“All right, you punctuality freaks wouldn’t want to be late to our rescheduled dinner, would you?” Daishou had the rare mercy to interrupt the awkward silence. “Don’t make me choke on your honey, Suga,” he added in a whisper into Suga’s ear.

This is a request, but I’m counting it for @hq-nextgen for the NGC Halloween day and @haikyuuhalloweek for the eighth day!

Yuuji waves at the lastgroup of trick-or-treaters, having given them a very generous amount of candy.“Happy Halloween!” he cheers, smiling at the cute costumes. Once they’re on thesidewalk, Yuuji closes the door and heads back to the living room. He sets thebowl of candy on the coffee table and plops on his couch.

“Aren’t trick-or-treatersthe cutest?” he sighs, adjusting his Pikachu onesie hood. At school he wore awerewolf costume but since his neighborhood has lots of tiny children, Yuujichanged his costume to make sure no kid would get scared. When he goes forcostumes, he goes authentic and detailed, and he doesn’t want to make a childcry because he looks like a true werewolf.

“Eww, they’re kids,”Futakuchi says, wrinkling his nose. “They’re not cute, they’re noisy andannoying.”

“You’re noisy andannoying, but I love you anyway,” Ennoshita teases from his spot on Futakuchi’slap. The ace pouts and Ennoshita laughs. “I kid, I kid. But you can’t fool anyof us.”

“What does that mean?”Futakuchi inquires, wrapping his arms tighter around Ennoshita’s waist andtugging him close to his chest.

I think 21 would be perfect for kagehina hsdshdhs

Hahaha, for sure! Kagehina is such a cute, bickering couple! The prompt is: “Oh my gaud, I think the crystal ball is working. The spirits are telling me you’re a dumbass.”

Shouyou huffs. “Kageyama, why are you taking so long?”he complains, resting his hands on his hips. They’re already late to the Noya’sHalloween party due to taking Natsu trick-or-treating earlier, but now Kageyamais standing in the middle of the sidewalk. He’s staring intently at the crystalball, part of his wizard costume (he always glared at Shouyou whenever thelatter insisted crystal balls weren’t part of a wizard costume. That’s Kageyamafor you).

“Shut up,” Kageyama grumbles, not even lifting hisgaze from the prop to glare at Shouyou. Staring even harder at the prop, heholds it closer to his face. “I’m trying to listen.”

“Listen to what?” Shouyou asks as a group of screamingkids on sugar rushes run past them. Wearing his big pumpkin suit, he steps tothe side, so he doesn’t get run over by the children.

“To the crystal ball,” Kageyama impatiently says, finallysparing a brief glance at Shouyou. “It’s telling me something important.”

Shouyou bounces on the balls of his feet. “What is it?!”he excitedly says. “I want to hear the crystal ball too!”

“Ah-ha!” Kageyama cheers. “The crystal ball isworking!”

“GWAH!” Shouyou jumps up and down, candy nearlyspilling from his candy bag. “What are they saying?!”

Kageyama dramatically says, “The spirits are telling…me you’re a dumbass.”

Shouyou stops jumping. “HAH?”

The setter bursts out laughing. “You should’ve seenyour face— don’t tackle me!”

“You better start running, Bakageyama!”

Iwaizumi is rarely asked to deal with animal spirits. Iwaizumi is also rarely asked by Kyoutani for… well, anything.

Which is why he’s quite surprised to get a call from a distressed Kyoutani saying “my chihuahua is fucking haunting me” and “please get here immediately” and “sorry” and “thanks”.
