Okay, so “soon” wasn’t as soon as I’d hoped, as the graphics card in my computer is quite new and it had some compatibility issues with FFXIV that finally got resolved in a recent driver update. Soooo I can now play without getting the black screen of death after a few minutes, and the game looks and runs awesome! :D 

Returning Soon! (OOC)

I let my subscription go because the game was barely playable (on lowest settings I barely got a playable score on the benchmark program). It got pretty frustrating not being able to advance the story because of lag, buuuut…

I got an awesome new computer that just scored 13,155 on the benchmark–and 7,000+ is extremely high! :o  I’ll likely have the game reinstalled sometime Sunday so I can start playing again soon. Yay!!

(( So there’s this really cute dress up game here, and I was doing other characters from Warcraft and then really wanted to do H’aladrin kitty but he’s single so I borrowed tiago-ffxiv, since he’s the only character I’ve RP’d with in FFXIV (sorry to drag him into this madness but look--CUTE KITTIES). The background reminded me of the character creation screen, lol. I really just love playing with these games XD ))

Person A frolicking happily through the snow–perhaps seeing it for the first time–as Person B watches, more content with relaxing/observing. Person B looks away for one second and Person A jumps into a bed of freshly fallen snow, only to discover that it’s at least four feet deep. Person B glances back up to find A flailing their arms, stuck waist-deep in snow.

30 Days of Character Development, Days 14-15

14.)  How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold?

“I’m more suited to the heat,” H’aladrin says. “Where I’m from, it’s a desert. We dress a lot lighter, there. Here, in Gridania...I wear a coat, always, even on days when no one else does.” He bites his lip gently. “I haven’t been anywhere really cold yet, with snow and all that, so I don’t know. But I really think I wouldn’t like it all that much. I’m pretty sure of that. I think I’d have to wear clothing so thick I’d hardly be able to move...”

15.) Is your character an early morning bird or a night owl?

“Morning!” H’aladrin answers, more confidently. “I’m always up with the sun, or even before. I’ve sometimes joked that I must be a plant...because I get tired really quickly once the sun goes down, or on cloudy days.”

Name: H'aladrin Tia Server: Balmung Looking For: 

RP: General role play. 

MRP: Mature role play. Willing to explore darker themes. (My character will not initiate darker roleplay, as he’s really not the sort to, but I am willing to have him become involved in such!).

ERP: Erotic roleplay. (So long as there’s some sort of story involved and both parties are comfortable with it! Miqo'te preferred, but miiiiight consider a Hyur character.)

Orientation: Homosexual.

Medium: 

In Game: Can be done, but my computer isn’t the greatest and I have a lot of lag issues.

Out of Game: Tumblr, Skype, and Google docs are all viable options!

Style: 

Freestyle: You have no set method in roleplaying. You freely jump from onelining, semi-para, and para with no consistency. 

PTM: Post to match. You’ll match what your partner gives. Generally flexible.

Basically, I keep in mind the setting–if we’re in a crowded place, posts will be a bit shorter so as to keep a good flow and not drown others out. If we’re alone and writing a scene, it’ll be para or multi-para depending on the situation. I won’t fluff up a post with unnecessary words, but if a lot needs to be said, I will say it. XD

Brief Bio:  H'aladrin is my first character in FFXIV, and I’m new to the game in general, so I kept his story simple. He’s just starting out too, after all! H'aladrin is the youngest in a large family, and a rarity among Miqo'te in that he actually has a male sibling. Though praised in his various endeavors growing up, he was always aware of the fact that whatever he did, one of his siblings had done before him (and likely better, seeing as they were older). 

He has a strong desire to be noticed, and to distinguish himself from his siblings…and this is what led him to the Adventurer’s Guild. Though he travels a fair bit, he tends to stay in Gridania when he can. (He will vehemently deny that it’s because he likes it when Mother Miounne says she’s proud of him!)

12.) How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email?

“A little bit of both, I guess?” H’aladrin says, with an certain glance. “I mean, I like things like airships, and I use them all the time, but...I really have no idea how a lot of it works. And letters, definitely. I like that you can keep them in your pocket to read later--there’s something I like about actually being able to touch the same paper the other person did.”

13.) What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep?

H’aladrin blinks. These questions keep getting more and more personal! “I, well--I guess that depends, too!” the redhead stammers, blushing. “If I sleep alone, I’m pretty tidy. I like to sleep curled up, with one pillow, and the blankets kind of tucked around me so it’s like a cozy little nest. It’s probably messy, I guess... I stay at an inn, and though I’ve tried telling them they don’t need to make the bed, they still do it.” His gaze shifts to the side. “It’s even messier though, if I sleep with someone else. Because you need more space, and some people throw off a lot of heat, and sometimes two people just have different sleep styles. So, it really, really...gets complicated.”

11.) Is there an animal you equate with your character?

H’aladrin peers at his questioner, ears cocked and tail swishing behind him. “You’re joking, right? I mean...of course there is.” He doesn’t seem to feel the need to actually answer the question--mostly because it should be fairly obvious to anyone who looks at him.

10.) Can you define a turning point in your character’s life? Multiples are acceptable.

“I’d say the day I decided to leave home, and become an adventurer,” H’aladrin says softly. “See, Mama was blessed--out of six children, she had two boys. Two! And my brother is the sort who could easily become a nunh. And with me being the youngest, there really wasn’t much I could do that was new and uniquely mine, while staying at home.”

He shrugs, and glances aside, a smile on his lips. “So I left home to be an adventurer, and see the world. I’m really happy I did. I meet so many interesting people, and in it’s own way, it keeps me out of trouble.”

9.)  Who does your character trust?

The Miqo’te’s expression grows more serious, his brilliant green eyes glancing aside as he frowns thoughtfully. “In most things, my family. Family is pretty important to us.” He pauses. “Some things I don’t trust with anyone, though. I mean, I do and I don’t, you know? Because I’m a tia, I need to be careful around women...because people may see it as me trying to woo them, even if I’m not, and if there’s a nunh involved they could take it as a challenge, and I really don’t want that. I usually avoid the whole issue by hooking up with other tia, since we’re all in the same boat, really--”

He takes a breath, and continues. “But that’s risky too, because you don’t really know if they’re into that, and some are really not into it and can get violent about it, because they think it’ll ruin their chances of ever being nunh. So it’s a risk, no matter what you do.” H’aladrin frowns. “My family doesn’t know any of that, so...I guess the answer is--yeah, there are people I trust, but no one I trust completely.”

8.) Day of Favorites! What’s your character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower?

“Ummmm...” The Miqo’te crouches comfortably atop a rock, tail swinging contentedly behind him as he peers down at his questioner. “That’s a lot, but okay.” He begins to tick off his answers on his fingers. “Strawberry. Green. Uh, I don’t really have one, so...anything I can dance to? And daisies!”
