“I can drive if you don’t want to! I’ll have car privileges back at the end of the month which means I’ll have both my car and my licence back!” He said keenly, moving so his head was resting in her lap, just so he could more easily stare up at her face. Alex had lost his car privileges after breaking Tom’s phone; something he did not regret doing but also wasn’t anticipating the punishment for his actions. “Plus, we’ve already gone camping in the forest closer to us.” He tried to reason, before sensing that there were other forces at play that were dictating Hannah’s answer to his question. “Hmmmm….okay.” Alex said begrudgingly, before adding one of his trademark caveats. “But can we go camping for longer, then?” 

Hannah didn’t even want to touch the fact that Alex lost his car privileges. She couldn’t pick sides in that case, especially when she knew the reason would have been between Tommy and Al — she was in-between the two of them enough as it was. “No, it’s okay. I’m happy to drive, I just don’t want to be too far away, that’s all.” She said softly, stroking his hair gently as if trying to soothe him. Especially if she was going to tell him about the short trip Tom was trying to plan for their anniversary. “Sure, we can go camping for a little longer. Four days? Does that sound good?” Hannah asked, trying to make the still short amount of time seem appealing, hoping it would be good enough.

Alex’s initial frown at Hannah’s remarks evaporated at her touch, instead a small, contented smile settled on his features as he leaned into her hand. Alex knew it wasn’t true, after all he had heard Tom call him weird multiple times to various people recently, but if Hannah said so then it must be okay. Alex linked their fingers together, eyes gently tracing the way that their hands seemed to fit together perfectly. “Promise?” He asked; eyes glancing up to meet hers as he shuffled himself closer to her, always feeling as if they weren’t close enough. “Can we go camping during the school break? There’s this big forest about three hours away, and I want to go.” 

“Yeah, I promise.” She nodded, giving him a small smile. Sometimes it was just exhausting, and she couldn’t keep up with all the promises and Alex’s carefully calculated time spent with her. It made her want to scream, but for Alex, she was willing to at least try and keep up with it. “That’s kind of far away, Al — I don’t know if that’s a good idea. But we can still go camping, maybe just somewhere that’s a little closer.” Hannah didn’t really have a problem with camping in some far away forest with Alexander, but she knew how Tom would react, how being so far away was a risky move if things were to take a turn for some reason. “Is that okay?”

“She’s so funny. Plus, she doesn’t think I’m weird.” Alex said with a soft smile, eyes closing slightly as he shifted to make himself more comfortable in Hannah’s bed, enjoying the smell of her hair on the sheets. “Yeah, that sounds good. We can go to the movies together, and see Toy Story!” Alex grinned, his hand reaching out to intertwine his fingers with Hannah, his thumb drawing a few circles into her skin. Alex had convinced himself that there had to be more to their relationship than just this. “But does that time take away from our alone time for the rest of the week? Or do we get to both babysit and have alone time?”

“No one thinks you’re weird, Alexander.” Hannah stated, cupping his face in her hand for a moment, before pulling away. That wasn’t entirely true. Luke had said some awful things before (that Hannah had made him pay for later), and she knew Tom was concerned about his behaviour. But the important part was that she didn’t think so — that was all that mattered to Hannah. She squeezed his hand gently, not having the heart to pull away. Hannah tried every day to make sure she didn’t send the wrong message to Alex, but she wasn’t sure if it was catching on. “Oh, um… we’ll still get our alone time, Al. Don’t stress about it.”

Alex moved from her shoulder to lying on her bed; propping his legs up and making himself comfortable on Hannah’s bed. “I’ll bring my camera, I can take a nice picture for your Facebook.” Alex didn’t actually have Facebook, but he had an inkling of suspicion that Hannah had a photo of her and Tom that he would quite like to change. “Yeah that sounds lovely, I love spending time with Diana. She’s so much fun.” He grinned, Alex liked hanging out with Diana because Diana thought the same way that he did a lot of the time. “I can come over more during the day if she’d like? We can all hang out together.” 

“Thanks, Al.” Hannah crossed her legs, looking down at Alex as he lay next to her. The likelihood was that he would end up sleeping there anyway, and Tom would be grumpy when he came to pick her up tomorrow morning. But it wouldn’t be the first time that happened, so she was particularly concerned about it. “She loves you. Pretty sure you’re her favourite person, even more than me.” She joked, though Hannah was fairly certain that Diana would pick Alex first for everything. “Well… she’s got pre-school during the day, but maybe after? Isaac usually babysits, but maybe we can next week?”

Alex just responded to her words with a little frown; not entirely impressed with her answer but deciding to let it go in favour for focusing on the implication that Hannah enjoyed spending time with him and letting his mind run away with it. He moved so his head was resting fully against her shoulder, settling himself into the contact. “One sounds good.” Alex nodded gently, mentally mapping out how Hannah’s morning was going to work and seeing how he fitted into it. “Do you want to go to the clearing? Or we can go to the waterfall? Or there’s a cliff-like hill that is a bit further into the forest, but its very nice. You can stand on the very edge.” 

It felt nice to have Al leaning against her. They were usually so comfortable around each other, and it just made her feel so at home. Even if the timing was inappropriate and she wasn’t exactly expecting his company. “The waterfall sounds nice, you can bring your camera to take photos, too.” The forest was their spot. Well, it was more Alex’s, but Hannah knew how important it was that he’d shared it with her. Which is why she understood why he hated it when Tom, or anyone else came along with them. “And maybe after, we can go get ice-cream. With Diana? I know she misses you.”

“But I like seeing you every day!” Alex whined slightly, it went without saying that Hannah was the only person that Alex wanted to see everyday, he often thought that happiness would consist of every day being spent at Hannah, before his face split into a smile, the kind of smile he only ever gave to her and her alone. “Why is Tom going to church with you? I can come to church with you instead? That way I can sleep over and we get to hang out all day.” He gave her a little encouraging smile, nudging her gently as he leaned into her arm a little bit, his head resting ever so slightly on her shoulder. “We can even pack a picnic, bring macrons and cookies and strawberries…It’d be really nice!”

“He offered. And I like spending time with him — I like spending time with both of you.” Hannah made sure to keep things as even as possible. She was tired, and didn’t want tonight to turn into her consoling Alex because she accidentally said the wrong thing, she just couldn’t deal with that. Returning the smile, Hannah found herself genuinely excited to spend time with Alex, and was touched that he seemed to remember all of her favourite things. “That sounds awesome, Al. Tomorrow, at like, one? I’ll come by after church.” She’d have to tell Tom that he couldn’t come, which he’d understand and agree to (albeit begrudgingly).

“But you were out all evening - when else were we meant to hang out?” Alex pouted at her, moving to sit on the end of her bed, kicking off his shoes as he crossed his legs underneath himself, becoming quite clear that he was not going to leave of his own volition any time soon. Alex frowned slightly at the mention of Hannah and Tom spending any time together; crossing his arms over his chest. “I’m not tired - plus, I’m here now!” He said with a soft smile, as if he felt slightly triumphant in the fact that Hannah could not dispute the fact he was very much there. “But can we hang out tomorrow too? We can go to the forest! I can even sleep over if you want?” 

“Well, we don’t have to see each other every day, Alex. Not that I mind! I just… don’t want you to have to stress about not seeing me.” Hannah added, taking off her coat and draping it on her desk chair. She stepped out of her shoes, sitting on the edge of the bed, opposite him. She decided it would be best not to change right now, and was resigned to the fact that she’d likely end up sleeping in her party clothes tonight. Hannah winced a little, knowing that an impromptu sleepover wasn’t the best idea. “I have church with Tommy, really early tomorrow, Al — so maybe not a sleepover tonight. But we can still go to the forest, maybe in the afternoon?”

Alex had almost fallen asleep at the desk, leaning back to take full advantage of the head rest of the chair. Hearing the door open, he lurched back awake and sat up straight, staring at Hannah before his face softened to a little when he saw her. “Hey.” He shrugged, standing up to give her a reassuring smile which he knew did not suit the rest of his aura. “Everything is fine! I thought it’d be nice to - uh, hang out; but it didn’t look like you were home, so I thought I’d wait.” He shrugged, chewing a little bit on his lower lip - he honestly thought that his reception would have been slightly warmer, and didn’t fully comprehend why it felt like he had done something not good. “Did you have fun at the party? You could have called me if you wanted a lift home.”

“Hang out? It’s eleven-thirty, Al.” Hannah pointed out, pulling out her phone to double check the time. “Not that I mind that you’re here, obviously. I’m always happy to see you.” That was true, but it didn’t change the fact that she was still mildly concerned as to why Alex though sneaking into her house at this time was a good idea. And she knew he’d snuck in, because her window was shut, and Isaac would’ve texted her if Alex had come in through the front door. “Yeah, the party was nice. And, uh… Tommy dropped me home, so it’s okay.” It was probably for the better that Tom didn’t know Alex was here, otherwise he’d insist on driving him home. “If you’re tired, we can reschedule for tomorrow? I have church in the morning, but afterwards?”

Much to Alex’s dismay, Hannah had started locking her window. Positioned awkwardly on the roof, he let out a slight sigh of annoyance as he carefully made his way over to Seth’s window, knowing that it would not be locked, and that Seth never used his desk so he wouldn’t notice if a few things had been moved by a foot. Clambering in, rather smoothly for somebody with lanky limbs, he made his way through the window and slid across the table, only knocking over a few video games as he did so. Putting them back vaguely where they were, Alex just moved into the hall and into Hannah’s room, looking about curiously to map any things that had changed since he’d last been in there. One part of him wanted to pick up and touch everything, to study every detail of every little object in her room and to climb into her perfectly made bed and sleep until she came in. But instead, he just sat at her desk, waiting for her to arrive. 

Tom had dropped Hannah off, the two of them having decided to leave the party semi-early so he could accompany her to church the next morning. She was endlessly grateful, and figured that there wouldn’t be a lot of guys who would sit through a sermon with her on a Sunday morning. Still a little tipsy, she carefully crept through the house, trying not to wake her family up. Diana was a notoriously light sleeper, and Hannah was screwed if she woke up. Nudging her door open, she flicked the light on and had to stifle a scream. “Jesus! Oh my God… Alex?” She caught her breath, shutting the door behind her and hoping no one heard her yelp. “Hey,” Hannah began, trying to take a gentle tone with him, “Why are you here? Is everything okay?”

“They’ll be very gorgeous kids.” Alex just grinned down at her, leaning into her even more - as if any atom of space between them was too far away. His teeth lightly brushed against her skin, leaving a small bruise before he pulled away and tightened his grip around her. “A wolf-fish, huh? That sounds like you made it up.” He responded, his voice becoming more softer as he leaned into her touch even more. “Are they now? No wonder.” Alex looked around, realising that nobody else was near them so he took the opportunity to slip his hand up her top, cupping her breast for a brief moment before he pulled away - heading towards the next fish exhibit. “This fish looks terrible.” Alex pointed at the tank, shrugging before he put on his worst David Attenborough accent. “The rose fish looks like a gold-fish which has been stretched on one of those old timey torture devices, and dates back to the 4th century where they were thought to have magical powers….” 

Hannah couldn’t help but smirk, feeling the slight ache that came with the knowledge that Alex had left a bruise on her neck. It definitely wasn’t the first, and she’d taken to carrying concealer with her after a few weeks of dating him. “Come on, handsome. You know I’m way too smart to be making that up.” She joked, grinning up at him. Feeling Alex’s hand slip up her top, Hannah felt a blush rise to her cheeks. A small whimper of complaint escaped her when he pulled it away, and she pouted at him. “Tease.” Hannah frowned, before following him to the next exhibit. A giggle escaped her, shaking her head as Alex put on a terrible accent, unable to keep from laughing. “You really should go for a job at the aquarium, Al. They’d love you as a tour guide.” A teasing lilt accompanied Hannah’s words, pulling him toward her for another kiss. “I hope you’re not telling Diana these so-called facts. She hasn’t shut up about the earth being flat.”

“Never.” He responded with a laugh, leaning into the kiss as he slipped his tongue into her mouth for a brief moment before he pulled away to continue looking at the aquarium. Alex wrinkled his nose a little bit at Hannah, before he let out a laugh at her comment. “Babe, if I could I would happily give birth to our kids - who will be adorable, by the way.” Alex squeezed Hannah a little bit, pressing a kiss against her temple to reaffirm that he was entirely serious about their future children. “Yeah - almost, we’re much cuter.” He said with a laugh, leading Hannah over to the next room, that was smaller and darker for some kind of deep sea fish. He took the opportunity to tighten his grip a little, pressing a faint kiss against her neck. “What about these fish? Are these even fish?” 

Hannah seemed to melt entirely when Alex mentioned their future children, a stupid smile taking over her features. Normally such a reference to something semi-unplanned and way in the future would have her panicking, but she’d never been so sure of anything as she was of ending up with Alex. “Of course, they’ll have your eyes and my dimples.” She said with a laugh, only half-joking as she leaned into him a little, a kind of warmth settling over her. Giving Alex a smug smile, she followed him into the next room, “Oh, so much cuter.” Hannah nodded, head dipped to the side as he kissed her neck, backing into him a little, a smirk on her lips. “It’s a wolf-fish, handsome.” She cooed, head turned to press kisses against Alex’s lips and jaw, “They’re an endangered species.” Her words were slightly muffled in between kisses, a smirk on her features.

“Hey, I told you I actually planned today. Stop being so surprised that I put thought into something.” Alex responded teasingly, pouting at Hannah as he pressed a kiss against her lips just before they entered the building. He nodded at her instructions, showing the person at the gate the piece of paper he had printed with their pre-bought tickets and happily following Hannah wherever she went. “Awesome, I love seahorses.” He said with a shrug, unable to stop the cheekiness from slipping into his voice. “Babe, if you’re going to be like that we’re going to have to go to the bathroom to have a quickie.” He responded, his hand tightening in hers as he gave her a sly grin before he pulled her closer - his head tucked on top of hers as they stopped in front of the first seahorse. “This one looks cool. Tell me about seahorses babe, it’s hot when you talk science.”

Walking towards the tank, Hannah was just glad that the aquarium was fairly empty, especially since it meant they could be a little more inappropriate than usual. “What, you want me to stop teasing you?” She asked, a smirk on her features as she leaned up to leave a lingering kiss on Alex’s lips. Teasing him was by far one of her favourite pastimes, and the fact that they were in public wasn’t about to stop her. Wrapping Alex’s arms around her, Hannah leant back into him a little before fixing her gaze on the seahorses. “Seahorses are the only animal species on earth where the males give birth — isn’t that cool?” She told him, peering through the glass, eyes widening slightly. “Oh, and they like to swim in pairs.” Hannah let go of Alex’s hand to point to two seahorses with their tails linked. “Look — they’re almost as cute as us, handsome.”

“Yeah, but I have a very organised girlfriend who gets very excited when she gets to use her planner so why wouldn’t I increase the opportunities for her to use it?.” Alex grinned over at her - before he frowned at the idea of not getting head anymore. “Ugh - fine.” He shook his head at her, chewing on his lower lip as he tried not to think about getting head in the car, in the exact scenario they were in. “Don’t stop giving me head but don’t expect me to be able to keep my hands off of you in public places. We’ll see how we go, but don’t blame me if you end up as wet as the fish.” Alex just winked at her as he turned into the carpark of the aquarium, leaning over to press a rough kiss against her lips as he cupped her cheek in his hand. “I love you so much.” He muttered before he got out of the car, sprinting over to open the car door for his girlfriend. “Excited for the aquarium? I even bought tickets online so we don’t have to wait in the line.” 

Pulling a face, Hannah knew she was kidding herself by thinking that Alex wasn’t capable of turning her on whilst they were traipsing around the aquarium. Especially since they’d done worse in far more public places. “You bought them online? That’s really big of you handsome, I’m proud.” Hannah squeezed his hand lightly, swinging their arms slightly as they entered the building. Whilst her words may have sounded sarcastic, she was being nothing but genuine. “Let’s go clockwise. That way we get to start with the seahorses, and then end with the bioluminescent fish.” She said, voice awfully businesslike considering this was a trip to the aquarium. Rising up on her tiptoes, she leaned in to whisper into Alex’s ear. “And if there’s no one in that underwater tunnel, you can feel me up.” A smirk on her lips, Hannah tugged on his arm lightly, leading him in the direction of the first exhibit.

okay so i feel like intro is either like “raindrops” which is the intro to ariana’s new album and it’s a sample of an old, old song OR it’s just some vocalising and pretty piano music/synth OR it’s an echoed version of another song on the album like what lorde does in liability 2. 

the alex interlude is like a really short clip of him playing piano and maybe han vocalising over the top?? it’s very cute he’s credited on the album and everything. they’re in love.

everything else is pretty standard? the songs before the interlude (excluding the intro) are about luke and how shit he is. everything after interlude is cute and about alex. 

we’re just going to pretend this is sonically cohesive (it KIND OF is? if u ignore dear john, i guess?)
