✿ umbrella for two | park sunghoon

♡ content: sunghoon x fem!reader, college!au, meet cute (kinda) // word count: +1k
♡ synopsis: it was raining, and sunghoon needed to summon all of his courage if he wanted to get home somewhat dry.
♡ disclaimer: just soft and fluffy heh. i mean no harm to any of the members, this is purely a work of fiction.

for you, midterms season always meant late-night study sessions at the university library.
you told yourself that it was because the environment made you more productive. but if you were to tell the truth, it was because the library felt like the perfect place to people watch. during your study breaks, you would always find your eyes scanning through the room. they would land on the library regulars at their self-declared assigned desks, or the new-comers who would just pop in and out after they found the material they came for.
you'd even like to play little games. guessing whether the two people sat together were either dating or just friends. or which one likes the other but is too afraid to say it. growing up, this habit would get you in trouble when you would get caught staring, but you've mastered this thing you deemed a skill over time.
you let out a yawn, stretching a bit in your seat. this was your cue to starting packing up your things and head home. while placing your things in your bag, you already started dreading the walk home. it had been raining on and off the entire week, and tonight was one of the nights where the rain was especially relentless. but it also meant you could curl up in bed with hot chocolate when you get home.
exiting the library, you looked at the route home. puddles scattered the sidewalk, illuminated by the warmth of the street lights. you took out your umbrella out of your bag, but before you could step out into the rain, you heard a boy's voice saying,
"hey! wait up!"
you looked towards where the voice came from, trying to see if it was coming from a familiar face. but before you could put the pieces together, he quickly added, "i mean this in the least creepy way possible, but i know we live in the same building complex," he gulped before continuing "can you share your umbrella with me? please?"
that's when the puzzle pieces clicked in your mind. he was the boy that you'd run into sometimes at the lobby of your building. you've seen him in his college shirt, pajamas, and varsity uniform. but you never caught his name, nor seen him outside of your building complex, until now.
"u-um, sure! but, i can't really promise to be completely dry. i don't really think this umbrella is for two people?" you replied, looking back and forth from your umbrella to the boy in front of you. now that he was up close, you noticed that he was a lot taller, and his shoulders were a lot wider, than you had first thought.
"i don't mind! i'll even hold the umbrella for you," he paused, "i-i'm sorry, you don't have to say yes if you don't want to," he insisted. but you saw the desperate look on his face. if you said yes, you knew that you'd get a bit of rain on you. but it was late, and the rain didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. so you smiled at him and answered, "no worries, i could use the company."
the boy looked like he was about to cry out of sheer joy, "thank you! i promise to pay you back somehow," he said as he took the umbrella from your hands. you both started to walk down the path home, when you realized, "you never told me your name," you asked, hoping he could hear you over the rain.
"o-oh, it's sunghoon," he said "i'm from the engineering department. how about you?" he asked you in return. you replied with your name and major, "and it's probably why we never see each other outside of our lobby," you said, hoping to lighten up the mood. sunghoon could only agree, as he laughed at your remark. your eyes couldn't help but take in his expression. how his eyes turned into half moons, or how his oddly sharp canines peeked out when he'd smile.
silence fell on the both of you when the rain suddenly poured harder. you naturally brought yourself closer to the middle of the umbrella, your arm bumping into sunghoon's. "sorry," he blurted, "here, um, you could hold onto my arm," he continued as he offered his arm to you. you timidly reached out for it, saying a small 'thank you' in return.
you were usually very aware of your surroundings, but your mind could only focus at the warmth of his skin beneath your hand. what made it worse was when you realized you could feel his bicep muscles, immediately making your face heat up. mentally shaking away these thoughts, you placed your focus on both of your steps, noticing how large sunghoon's steps were in comparison to yours.
being so lost in your thoughts, your mind couldn't even process quick enough when a car rushed by, splashing puddle water on the two of you. well, it would have been the two of you, if sunghoon didn't take most of the damage, facing his back towards the road in a split second to shield you from the splash.
despite the clear discomfort on sunghoon's face, he still did a once over at your body. "are you okay?" he asked out of worry. you nodded, feeling sorry for him, but you also couldn't stop yourself from laughing, "that came straight out of a movie scene."
sunghoon's worry melted away, replacing it with a smile while shaking his head at your comment. he pulled you closer before starting to walk again, "come on, let's get ourselves home."
the two of you finally reached your building lobby, wasting no time in going into the elevator. while waiting for it to arrive at your floor, you looked at sunghoon, before asking, "um, i was planning on making hot chocolate, do you want some? after drying off, of course."
you didn't know where this boldness came from, but hey, he's the reason why you were mostly safe and dry from the rain. and he was cute, which was a huge plus.
sunghoon could only nod and smile eagerly, starting to look more like a puppy as each moment passes.
the elevator dinged as it arrived at your floor. you waved at sunghoon as you stepped out, "see you later!" sunghoon could only raise his hand in response, eyes never leaving your figure even as the elevator doors shut close.
he may have been shivering from the cold, but his cheeks were warm at the thought of getting to see you again.

heh just thought that this would be cute. what do you guys think the other members' meet cutes would be?

The Look Of Love - ˚꩜。- Yang Jeong-in (양정인)

jeongin realizes he's in love with you ><
It’s just a normal Saturday.
That’s what Jeongin keeps telling himself as he watches you press your face just a little too close to the bakery display, glasses slipping down your nose as you squint at the tiny handwritten flavor cards. You ask him—voice light, curious—“Should I get the vanilla bean tart or the raspberry cream puff?”
But he doesn’t hear the words. Not really.
Not when your eyes widen in that way they always do when you’re excited. Not when the breeze drifts in through the open bakery door, ruffling your hair into soft strands that frame your face like you’re the main character in a shoujo anime. Not when the glass reflects soft golden light over your skin and your scent—vanilla, laundry-fresh, warm—lingers in the air between you.
You look up at him again, blinking when he doesn’t answer right away.
“Innie?” you ask, sweet and concerned. “Which one should I get?”
And he forgets how to speak.
His mouth opens, but nothing comes out, because his brain is looping one simple sentence:
“I’m in love with you.”
It crashes over him like warm sunlight. It’s not sudden, not really—it’s been growing in the quiet walks home, in shared hoodies and stolen bites of your food, in laughter that leaves his cheeks sore. But now, seeing you like this, something clicks.
Your cheeks puff just a little in impatience, and you point between the two desserts again. “Be honest. I trust your taste.”
And oh—God. He’s really in love with you.
He clears his throat. Tries not to sound like he’s short-circuiting.
“Whichever one you don’t get,” he says, voice soft, “I’ll get. We can share.”
Your smile could ruin him. “Okay, deal.”
You go back to deciding, and he watches you, chest tight, wondering how the hell he’s supposed to go back to being “just friends” when you look like that—like something out of a dream, like sugar and sunbeams and something far too soft for this world.
Yeah. He’s definitely in love with you.
And maybe… maybe soon he’ll tell you.
But for now, he watches the way your fingertips tap the glass, and he makes a silent promise:
You’ll always have my favorite flavor. Always.
okay okay okay ill stop writing yearning men (¬_¬")
#gosh this was so cute#istg ordering the other thing they want so you could share both is a love language in itself#lea's recs 📁

✿ all over again: part two | park jeongseong

♡ content: jay x fem!reader, doctor!jay, ex-boyfriend!jay, exes to ?, my attempt at the miscommunication trope?, slow burn? girl idk
♡ disclaimer: i'm so sorry if this looks like an essay-writing contest. it just didn't feel right to skip over some narrative that would help out in understanding their emotions huhu idk. also might have inaccuracies on becoming/being a doctor lol. also only roughly proofread. i mean no harm to any of the members, this is purely a work of fiction.
♡ word count: +4.3k
♡ part one here!

when you said yes to bringing your nephew to his first annual check-up, you definitely did not sign up to seeing your ex-boyfriend.
your sister had fallen sick, so she had asked you to bring her son, youngjae, to his upcoming check-up. you initially had said no, because it was scheduled to be on one of your only rest days from the flower shop. you had just finished one of your biggest projects yet, a grand wedding of a couple, which was located in another town. in between all of the logistical planning and travel, you had planned to spend the entire day recovering from the whole ordeal.
but your sister needed you, and her husband was the one taking care of her and trying to keep the household afloat. and you couldn't really say no to the thought of being able to spend the day with your nephew. as the fun aunt, you would always bring him to his favorite places and buy him his favorite sweets, things that your sister and brother-in-law would shake their heads at.
so as a result, you're now met face to face with jay, in the middle of his clinic. you had teased him before, that a tall and intimidating man like him would look so out of place in a colorful room full of toys and trinkets for young patients. and yet taking a whole look at him now, with his white coat that had the letters "MD" after his name, you knew that he belonged here. and in some part of your heart, you were still proud of him for achieving his dreams, even if you were no longer a part of it.
it was jay who had first broken the silent staring contest that was happening between the two of you. "hi," he started hesitantly, "i didn't expect to see you again," he said before leading you both inside the examination room. you had struggled to respond, as you were nowhere near mentally prepared for how to handle this situation. so you had simply responded with, "yeah, i guess i've been busy."
jay on the other hand, was having a full-on meltdown inside his head. he had always thought that on the day that he'd see you again, he would be ready to do everything in his power to win you back. he had an elaborate plan on recreating your first few dates, bringing you to your favorite places and doing your favorite activities, to remind you just how good the two of you had once been.
but now, jay feels like he's been slapped in the face. here you are, bringing in your son to his first annual check up. had it been any other scenario, he would have thanked heeseung for passing his patient to him. he looked again at the boy, who had been hiding his face in your neck, clearly shy at meeting this new person. jay felt that the universe was rubbing it in his face, of what exactly he had decided to throw away in exchange for what he thought would make him happy.
jay wanted to ask you so many questions. who was the lucky guy? where did you meet him? how fast did it take you to move on? were you happy? happier than when you had been with him? but jay knew that he had to burry those questions for now, or perhaps forever.
for now, he put a practiced smile on his face and went to the part of his office where he kept all of his toys. picking out a red firetruck, he approached the baby, showing him the toy as a bribe to get you out of his arms. "hey little guy, wanna come with me?" jay asked with eased, and immediately the boy had reached out to jay, eagerly reaching out for the toy.
you had watched jay in awe. you knew that he was good with kids, as you saw him before with his nieces and nephews. heck, even the kids that you would see at the park or restaurants were all naturally drawn to jay. you watched him take your nephew's vital signs with minimal fuss, inwardly feeling betrayed because just this morning, it had taken you a full hour to get him dressed for this check up.
but your stubborn heart couldn't help but warm at the sight in front of you. jay had your nephew's full attention, as he softly spoke to him and would tickle him in the right places to get a laugh out of him. after testing a few of your nephew's reflexes, jay had brought the baby back into your arms while he prepared the things he needed to administer a vaccine.
while waiting, you had been thinking of how you could sneak into the conversation that this baby wasn't yours and that you were remarkably single even after all of these years. you knew you were still upset at jay, and rightfully so. he had given up on your relationship while you had held on to his promise for months, even if your heart was already slowly falling apart. however, you knew deep down, that you still deeply loved and admired the man in front of you.
yet, something was stopping you from saying it outright. maybe it was your pride/ you didn't want jay to think that you were so eager and desperate to get back with him, even if that was what your heart was screaming for. on the other hand, it may have been your insecurity and self-doubt. jay had been the first one to let go. and like he said before, maybe his life really was better without you in it. who were you to suddenly jump back in his life and ruin his peace and quiet?
deep in thought, you hadn't noticed that your nephew was trying to get your attention, waving the toy around. what brought you out of your head was when you heard the words, "mama, mama!"
jay had dropped the small syringe in his hand in shock of what he heard. he felt as if the world was mocking him, reminding him again that he'd never be able to hear those words from your own children. thankfully, the syringe had fallen onto the sterile tray below it, jay felt relieved that it was at least not wasted. he picked it up again with shaking hands before clearing his throat, "he's definitely a happy boy, huh?" he choked out, trying to hide his true emotions.
you were still trying to process just what happened, your nephew staring at you with those beady eyes of his, clueless of what he had just caused. you quickly made up a reply, "yeah, um, it's the only thing he's been saying the past few days," you inwardly groaned, cursing yourself for not coming up with a better thing to say. while it had been true that your nephew has been saying those words non-stop, especially from the excitement and encouragement from your sister, it had made it even harder for you now to explain your situation.
the rest of the appointment was spent in silence, save for when jay had to administer the vaccine to youngjae. but jay had handled it like the professional he was, distracting your nephew to subdue his reaction from the pain.
now, jay was writing on his prescription pad, writing down instructions for the next couple of weeks, as well the details of your nephew's next appointment with his original doctor. you could feel your mouth become dry as the words you desperately wanted to say were stuck at your throat. in an attempt to ground yourself, you focused on jay's hands that were busy jotting down notes.
you were fine, really, but not until you noticed a simple silver band wrap around jay's left ring finger.

you finally arrived at your sister's place, trying your best to close the front door as quiet as possible. in your arms was youngjae, who had already fallen asleep on the way home, tired after the day's events. you had felt bad for the boy, as you were distracted the entire time you spent together after his doctor's appointment. but you couldn't help but drown yourself in self-pity.
of course jay had moved on. he probably met another respectable doctor, somebody who would truly understand his struggles and the ins and outs of his tight schedule. you thought on how they were probably the it-couple at the hospital, everybody in awe on how a couple could be so perfectly intelligent and attractive at the same time.
your bitter thoughts had clouded your mind the entire way home, only slightly quieting down when you had placed youngjae in his crib in his nursery. on a regular day, you would have cooed and taken a million photos of your sleeping nephew. but with everything that had happened today, your eyes started to tear up as you watched over your nephew. you thought of when you and jay were still together, of the times when you two would think of what your little family would look like. looking at your nephew now, you think of how far away those dreams seem to be now.
you cursed yourself for hoping. hoping that one day jay would change his mind and run back to you and appear at your front door, begging you to take him back. today was a clear reminder that it just wasn't happening. declaring a pause at your little pity party, you wiped your own tears away and went to your sister's bedroom.
"you could have at least given me a heads up, you know," you said as you plopped down the recliner chair your sister had in her room, barely acknowledging the presence of your brother-in-law who had been sorting laundry at the foot of their bed.
"well, hello to you too. and what do you mean heads up?" she said as she stared at you expectantly. you squinted your eyes at her before replying, "that dr. park was actually jay park, my one and only ex-boyfriend?"
you watched your sister's expression transform from confused to a shit-eating grin before fully laughing at you. recovering from her laughing fit, she said "oh my god, you have to tell me everything that happened," fully giving you her attention from her place on the bed.
you begrudgingly told her everything, not pleased by her amusement at your misery. but on the other hand, you were thankful that you had somebody to talk to about it. you also handed her the the prescription note that jay had given you after the appointment, as you ended your recap on what had happened.
"wow, who would have thought, huh. imagine all of the stars that had to align for you guys to meet again," your sister said as she read over the note. "but you did tell him that youngjae is your nephew, right?"
when you didn't say anything, she repeated, "right?" she was not staring at your guilty expression. "well, you see," you laughed nervously, "i didn't really get the opportunity to say so?" you had tried to reason.
your sister just stared at you, trying to comprehend what you just said to her. "but it doesn't matter," you quickly added, "he's married anyway."
"well, did he tell you that?" she asked in reply, now understanding why you had first entered the room so down. "no, but he was wearing what i'm pretty sure was a wedding band, so," you shrugged as silence occupied the room, both you and your sister not really knowing what to say afterwards. the silence was quickly interrupted by youngjae's cries from the baby monitor perched at your sister's bedside table.
"i'll get him, don't worry," you sighed as you pushed yourself up from the chair and left the room to go soothe your nephew.
as soon as you were out of sight, your sister took one last look at the prescription pad, suddenly getting an idea.
°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
a few weeks later, you found yourself driving up to your sister's house again. now that she's feeling a lot better, you were celebrating youngjae's first birthday with some close friends and family. you came a bit earlier to help set up the party, since you were also in charge of decorations. which you happily complied with, preparing a few flower arrangements to bring to the party.
when you arrived, you brought in the flowers and started to get to work. it was only a small gathering at your sister's place, so you prepared some balloons and streamers to put on the wall as decoration. you were balancing on a small kiddie stool trying to put up a blue 'happy birthday' banner on the wall when you sister dropped the bomb on you.
"oh, i invited jay, by the way. i got his number from the prescription note you gave me the last time you were here," your sister told you as if she was commenting about the weather. you were thrown off, quite literally, from the stool you had been balancing on, landing on your bum as a result.
"you what?!" you exclaimed as you scrambled to your feet, ignoring the pain that was starting to form behind you. you sister had been arranging the cupcakes she had ordered at the dessert table as if nothing happened. she shrugged before saying "as youngjae's doctor of course, nothing else. just a bit of thank you for taking on the appointment at such a short notice."
but you knew your sister like the back of your hand. you knew that she had been plotting something, and you knew that what she had in mind wasn't anything good.
°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
when jay had read the text from your sister, he was still in bed, half asleep. but upon reading the text a second, and even a third time, he shot out of bed, and started weighing his options. on one hand, he had been desperate to see you again. he should feel guilty, knowing that you were happily taken with a family of your own. but ever since you left his office that day, he had not stopped thinking of you. on the other hand, he knew that he would be digging his own grave if he showed up to the party, only to be faced with the man that you had chosen to spend the rest of your life with.
in the end, jay had decided to attend the birthday party. because as pathetic as it sounds, he convinced himself that he would be okay with just being your son's doctor, if it meant he got to see you happy. even if it was from a distance, even if it wasn't with him.
which is why he found himself at the front door of your sister's house, holding a blue gift bag, hoping that your nephew would like his gift. after taking a deep breath, he rang the doorbell, also hoping that he got the address right. but he didn't have enough time to doubt himself, not when the door had opened to reveal you. jay knew that it was bad to stare, but he couldn't help but look at your face, trying to memorize every feature as if you'd disappear from him again.
you had to clear your throat to get his attention, "hey! um, you're just in time. the party is going to start soon," you awkwardly said as you held the door open for him to come inside. jay snapped out of his thoughts, quickly following you inside.
"oh, i brought a gift. it's just something small, but i hope he'll like it," jay said as he handed over the gift to you.
"i'm sure he will," you smiled at him, and jay had almost melted right then and there, "let me put it with the other gifts," you said as you took the gift from him, your hands brushing for a split second.
while waiting for the party to start, jay was stuck making small talk with your family, praying that they wouldn't bring up the past that the two of you had together. you were also busy entertaining guests and refilling the refreshments. but even if jay was in the middle of conversations, he would scan the room. he'd watch as to who you would interact with, curious as to who your partner would be out of everyone.
but then everybody had started cheering and cooing, as your sister emerged from the nursery, holding little youngjae in the tiniest hanbok, who had a confused expression on his face, wondering why there were suddenly so many people in his house.
you had appeared with a camera saying "let's first take some photos, everyone!" you ushered the little family in front of the decorations and started to take their photos. you were diligently taking every photo with different friend groups and family members, when your sister loudly said, "and of course youngjae needs pictures with his favorite auntie!" making sure that jay had heard what she said.
you knew your sister was up to no good at this party, but you tried to keep your cool when you carried your nephew and got ready for the photo. but your sister didn't stop there, "jay! come join the photo!" your sister told him with a smile that couldn't hide her mischievous intent.
on the outside, jay acted normal as he went beside you and posed for the photo. but on the inside, he was trying so hard to keep in his excitement. because your sister had finally spelled it out for him that you were single. after taking photos, the party had officially started. the room was soon full of laughter as everybody enjoyed the food and drinks that were going around. jay had tried to catch a conversation with you, but you made yourself busy as you couldn't face him out of embarrassment.
but when guests started to trickle out of the party one by one, jay finally caught you alone in the kitchen, washing some of the dishes. "here, let me help you with that," jay said as he grabbed the dish from your hand and started finishing the dishes. but before you could escape a conversation with him again, he asked "so, when were you going to tell me that he was just your nephew?" hearing the slight teasing in his voice.
"w-well! it was never really brought up! and..." you trailed off, saving your words in case you embarrass yourself further.
"it's okay," jay said, brushing it off like it was no big deal. you were happy to think that he'd end it there, but he looked at you with a smirk before saying,
"i would accept a date as an apology, though."
°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
you genuinely did not know how you ended up in this situation. there were a million alarms going on in your head, telling you that this was a bad idea. you had no business meeting up with an engaged, possibly even married man. but nothing could stop your heart from fluttering at the thought of going on a date with jay again. the man that still held your heart in his hands.
you look at your reflection in the mirror, clothes strewn at every corner of the room, a result of trying to come up with a decent outfit. you had agreed to grab coffee and pastries at a local cafe after his shift at the hospital, but jay told you that he'd pick you up beforehand.
while waiting for jay to arrive, you couldn't help but think about your first ever date. how nervous, yet excited, you had felt for it. the two of you were just university students, who had crossed paths in an elective subject you shared together. you were paired up with each other for one of the projects. and as one thing led to another, he ended up asking you out on your first ever date.
sometimes your sister's words would echo in your mind, on how all of the stars must have aligned for you to meet. you had thought that it was by chance that you had shared the same random elective in the same semester, and that you had met again at his clinic on accident. and yet, your foolish heart would also like to think that maybe it really was fate that made your paths cross again.
you were brought out of your thoughts by the doorbell of your apartment. you quickly gathered your things and rushed to the door when you were greeted by jay, who had a huge bouquet of lilies in his hand. "hi, sorry if i kept you waiting," jay said bashfully. but in all honesty, you didn't mind one bit. you had thought of all the trouble he must have gone through to make sure he arrived on time, even getting flowers on the way.
still, deciding to tease him, "patronizing another flower shop, huh?" you said, as you stared at him suspiciously. "o-of course not! i knew you wouldn't be at your shop today so i made sure to get them from there," jay insisted.
you let out a soft laugh at his desperate expression, "i'm just teasing. thank you, they're lovely. here, let me place this in a vase," you said as you took the flowers from him, already thinking about the perfect vase that would compliment the flowers. you had always thought that flowers were more than gifts. they were also letters in a way, messages that couldn't be conveyed just through words.
now, you didn't know if jay chose lilies on purpose, but you smiled to yourself knowing that they represented new beginnings.
jay had kept the promise he made with himself. that if given the chance to win you back, he would recreate all of your dates, buying you your favorite things and doing everything that you had loved to do in the past. your date didn't end at the coffee shop, as jay dragged you to an arcade. he desperately tried to show off at the claw machines, but failed miserably. trying to cheer him up, you led him to the photo booth. you were also eager to capture this moment, as you loved being able to look back at your memories through physical photos.
your date was going well, perfect even. but with every door held open, every time jay would fix his hair, your eyes would find the silver band wrapped around his ring finger. you knew that you had to make the choice, you had to tell him that you weren't going to subject yourself to this kind of set up. that it wasn't fair. even if it meant bursting the perfect little bubble the two of you had made. even if it meant you walking out of his life another, and perhaps the last, time.
so when jay had dropped you off at your front door, you looked to face him. jay immediately met your gaze, eyes full of wonder and love. he was making this harder than it already was, your heart already breaking.
"i really enjoyed today, jay. but, i'm going to have to be honest with you," you said before taking a deep breath, "i don't think we can keep doing this, jay," you said as you stared at your feet.
"w-wait, love, where is this coming from?" jay immediately panicked, not even noticing that he had called you by the term of endearment. "look, i know that i have yet to address how we ended things before and i promise that i was going to properly deal with it later. did something happen, d-did i make you uncomfortable?" jay had started to say a million words a minute, confused where you were coming from.
"please just be honest with me already, jay. i see the ring that you wear on your ring finger. it's not fair for me, and not fair for her,'' you said, starting to get frustrated, wanting to get this over with immediately.
"h-her?" jay stared at you, dumbfounded. not until he looked at his left hand, finally understanding what you had meant.
jay started laughing. like, letting out a full-blown belly laugh.
"gosh, if you can't treat this seriously then maybe i really should've said no to the date!" you whined as you started to search for your keys in your bag, eager to get into your apartment so you could wallow in your sadness and embarrassment.
but jay was quicker. he had grabbed your hands and gently leaned you against your front door. pressing his forehead against yours, he whispered, "you've got it all wrong, baby."
jay leaned back and removed the ring from his finger. "i've been wearing this since you've left. i wear it because some doctors or nurses would approach me with, um, romantic intentions. and since you weren't coming over to the hospital to visit me in between shifts anymore, well, this had been my first line of defense," jay explained as he kept on fidgeting with the ring in his hand.
jay reached for your hand and brought it in front of his lips, "and so i swear on everything that i hold dear in my life, there is nobody else. because it's only you, and it will only ever be you," he said before pressing his lips on your knuckles.
"so, what do you say? will you be willing to do this all over again with me?" jay asked mischievously.
without even processing what he had said, you pulled jay by the collar to kiss him on the lips. "yes, a hundred times, yes, my love," you said as you started to get lost in his eyes.
he smiled, placing a quick kiss on your nose before he said,
"good, because i've had your engagement ring with me for ages."

EVEN THOUGH YOU AIN’T MINE ⋆。°✩ ot7

( 𝙄 𝘿𝙊𝙉’𝙏 𝙒𝘼𝙉𝙏 𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝙏𝙊 𝙎𝙀𝙀 𝙉𝙊𝘽𝙊𝘿𝙔 ) ── no label to your relationship, no status confining you to one another. just pairs of eyes that linger from across the room like a silent prayer in the night. just because you two aren’t dating . . . it doesn’t mean that no one else can have you
(𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐕𝐄) enha x fem! reader, established feelings, friends with benefits (?), suggestive comments, cursing, nothing but pure jealously & possessiveness between both of you / w.c 4.9k
𝐤𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐚’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬 ! this has been long overdue in my drafts (and i've been kinda inactive) so its finally time to bring this fic idea out of the vault. also i apologize if this does have typo errors (i finished writing this at 1am lmao) but i hope you guys enjoy!

LEE HEESEUNG
your lips curled into a grimace as you saw a girl laugh at one of his jokes and place her hand on his chest. it shouldn’t make you mad, it shouldn’t have made your blood boil but it did. and that’s what bothered you. the forbidden kisses, the way that his hands knew every inch and curve of your body —and yet, the two of you wholeheartedly agreed that it was better this way. no feelings, no strings attached. verbally, the two of you acknowledged it would be easier. so why was your heart so set on denying it? it didn’t take long for you to shake the whispering thoughts out of your head. a party was no time to dwindle on your insecurities. this was a decision that the two of you had taken into careful consideration. a relationship would only lead to disaster, it was better this way.
so maybe that’s why you didn’t have an issue grabbing a random stranger by the tie and dragging him out to dance with you. maybe that’s why you found it exhilarating to have his hands caressing your body as you two grinded against one another. the rush was exhilarating, but what made it all worthwhile was seeing heeseung look at you. the way he had his hands wrapped around the girl he was dancing with, the way she was so possessed by him, kissing his neck. perhaps in another lifetime he would be captivated by the girl in front of him —but in this universe, his eyes were only locked on you. watching you, wishing that was him instead of the stranger in front of you.
a smile touched your lips as you allowed yourself to roll your hips back, feeling the hands of the stranger press into your thighs. this was what it was like to be on the other end of jealously. the smile turned into a grin as you saw heeseung’s hand go up to his hair, his fingers clenching into a fist the more he watched you tease him from a distance away. it was all a twisted game you two played. while you both wouldn’t admit the feelings that lingered in the air, it was seeing who would be the first to fall. who would be the one to break, the one to get on their knees, to submit and accept that they were possessive and wanted no one else.
and he broke. heeseung pushed himself away from the girl that was still gouging his neck, grabbing you by the wrist and pulling you away from a dance that he knew was meant for him. his grip on your wrist tightened as he led you down a labyrinth of hallways, walking past people while the music blared into your ears. until he found an empty room and pulled you inside. shadows fell over his face as his fingers trailed down to your chin, gently caressing it until he pulled you close, heartbeats slowly fluttering in synch until his lips crashed into yours.
a kiss of desperation, one where you two grabbed for one another like you were the last people on earth. where you the two of you could release the silent yearnings that you both had been holding in for so long. and when your lips finally pulled away from his, he only gave you a millisecond to breathe before his lips touched yours again. you smiled into the kiss, pulling away so you could hear him pant as the two of you locked eyes in a room with the shadows casting as light.
“don’t ever fucking do that to me again,” his words weren’t a beg, they were a command. a desperate command that had you trailing your hands up to the hem of his shirt and kissing his neck. he groaned, his hands running down to grip your hips as you continued to trail kisses down him.
“you’re mine,” heeseung said as his hand moved up to your hair, caressing it before pulling you back so your eyes could meet his. “you’re mine,” he repeated, his lips hovering over yours before you closed the gap between them.
PARK JAY
you admittedly knew that your relationship with jay was one of stolen kisses, lingering touches, and the echoes of pleasure behind closed doors. it was always meant to be that way, private, secretive, and unofficial. in other words, this should have been a relationship that you two could have walked away from with no regrets —only you both lingered longer than expected. it didn't help that you would find a new floral arrangement in your kitchen counter every morning, or an outfit, a piece of jewelry wrapped up waiting to be unopened at the foot of your bed. but it was a silent confirmation that jay knew you. he knew what you wanted, what you liked, and he most certainly knew what you looked good in.
for a man that knew you so well, he had no trouble knowing how to make you squirm in your seat. jay couldn't help but find ecstasy in seeing your eyes narrow at him from across the store as he would help a random girl pick out the perfect necklace. to him, your glares were a way of confirming that he still had you wrapped around his finger. that you weren't going anywhere. that you were his, and his alone.
only two could play at this game. that was something that jay underestimated about you. which made your lips curl into a smile as you immediately went to the clothing racks. your fingers traced over different types of fabric, eyeing the dresses in front of you until you settled on two different pieces. your eyes flickered up to address the crowd of men that lingered in the store. it was a rush of adrenaline finding a somewhat attractive stranger and making your way towards him with your options in hand. from the corner of your eye, you could see jay watching you and that was all that mattered.
it didn't take much, just batting your eyelashes and looking like the most innocent girl in front of the stranger for his cheeks to flush red and help you pick between the two dresses you held in your hands. it didn't take much to get him to pay for the dress either, just cocking your head to the side, looking at his lips and pretending to be completely head over heels desperate. at the end of the day, you secured yourself a new dress and the wrath of jay park as he glared daggers at the bag in your hand as you flashed a wink while walking past him as you left the store.
there was something about wearing a dress that wasn't bought by jay that made your heart skip a beat, wondering what he would say, how he would react to seeing you wear it. after all, the two of you had made plans to him coming over to your apartment prior to your shopping trip. slipping on the silk black dress that clung perfectly to your body felt unreal —an act of betrayal to see him jealous.
the knock on the door sent butterflies into your stomach as you made your way to let jay in. no words, no small talk was said between the two of you as you opened the door. his eyes immediately went to the dress that was on your body. he was taking in every inch of you in that outfit, unable to imagine that someone else, someone that wasn't him, was able to pick a dress for you. and as he looked up at your eyes, the possessiveness filled him up like a drug as he walked inside your apartment, his eyes still on your dress until his hands went up to touch the thin straps on your shoulders.
jay closed the gap between you, his gaze trailing up from the straps on your shoulders to staring at you with a jealously that you had never seen before. his hand went up to cup your face as he pulled his lips to yours. "take this off," he muttered against your lips as he started to pull the straps of your dress down. "no one is allowed to buy you anything but me,"
SIM JAKE
to anyone else, making out in the backseat of someone's car on multiple occasions and having "sleepovers" could be considered things that happen in a relationship. but not with jake. and maybe that was the thrill that lingered in your stomach when you spent time with him. at the same time, it was almost a curse knowing that you two would spend so much time together for it to amount to nothing. what you two had was for fun only. nothing serious to come out of it. the two of you had been previously screwed over by your exes in the past, what you two had was the fun physical stuff that didn't include the emotional shit involved in a relationship.
in the beginning, it didn't pain you as much. it was nice to wake up with someone in bed. getting to play with jake's hair as he trailed kisses down your skin. or the idea of parking in the middle of nowhere and leaving the car foggy and seeing your handprints on the windows the following day. it was meant to be fun and games, no harm done, no feelings attached. until you felt him becoming distant. until, at the club, you had to see another girl place her hands on his hair, as he trailed kisses down her neck that it left your fingernails leaving prints in the palms of your hands.
you shouldn't be jealous. you tried to calm yourself down, but the image played over and over in your head. it wasn't like she had kissed him, she had just placed her hands in her hair. but you had been doing that for so long. you had always done that to jake after every heated moment that the two of you shared. but he had marked her, there was no denial about it. if this is what jealousy felt like, you hated it. because it meant that your feelings weren't just some fucked up illusion, but a reality. in your mind, he was at fault. he was yours and yours alone. which made the pain in your stomach sink deeper. jealous and possessive, two traits you never thought would come back to haunt you again.
it had corrupted your mind and soul. going to bed with him, knowing that the scenario was playing in your head constantly. until a moment of clarity washed over you as you looked at yourself in the mirror after taking a shower. the hickeys that jake would leave on your body were fading. maybe it was time for you to haunt his thoughts instead.
he could talk to any girl he wanted at the club. it didn't matter. not while you found some random man that same night and let him mark you. it felt euphoric knowing that you would return to your bed that night, knowing that the plague of possessiveness had washed away from you. you thought of jake as the stranger pressed his lips against your neck, your chest and your thighs. what would he say? what would he think? it felt completely surreal.
that night, once you both returned from the club, you didn't hesitate to get changed into your pyjamas while jake was in the room. stripping in front of him, the purple and red bruises felt like golden stickers on your body as you casually ignored their existence. but he noticed —and he didn't look away. rather, jake made his way toward you, his hands lingering on your neck, trailing down your skin as he looked at all of the hickeys that were left on your body. "who did this to you?" he asked as his grip tightened on your thighs as he was touching one of the bruises. he felt betrayed, like a slap to the face seeing that someone else's lips had marked your body. while he didn't understand what he had caused for another man to mark your body, the spark of possessiveness was ignited as his hands continued to trace the hickeys left on your body.
it was desperation as he started pressing kisses to your body, as he wrapped his arms around you, his hands clutching to your skin and making you moan into his grasp. his lips trailed to places that weren't marked, weren't covered in foreign hickeys. and that night, he made sure for you to know how jealous he was. how you were completely his. "cover up these hickeys up," he said as he pointed to the ones on your skin, as you were a breathless mess beside him. "the only ones i want to be seeing are mine,"
PARK SUNGHOON
sunghoon would rather die on his grave than admit that he was jealous. the last thing he wanted was to give you the satisfaction of knowing that he cared. what you two had was not meant to be an emotional pursuit. just something to keep you both entertained. he didn't like being vulnerable and you didn't like communicating any problem that stemmed in a relationship. even though you both agreed that you two would treat each other better than any of your exes, what you had was easier. being there for each other while not literally being there for each other. okay, so maybe it was actually more complicated but it was saving you two from emotional attachment —at least, that's what he kept telling himself.
he didn't know how it started. maybe it was when your kisses started feeling short against his lips. or how you didn't have that look in your eye that made his heart flutter every time you pulled back to catch your breath. the distance was driving him insane. and the constant drillings into his head that what you two had wasn't meant to be serious made him feel even worse. because slowly and surely, sunghoon would catch himself staring at you more intently. his fingers delicately tracing your skin as you laid in his bed with his arms wrapped around your bare torso. how he would clench his fist as you would laugh at someone else's joke or casually place a hand on someone else's chest when you both would go out with your friends. sunghoon was slowly spiralling into jealously and he hated that you didn't know what you were doing to him.
it became more frequent over the weeks. he hardly saw you in his apartment or on the other side of his bed anymore. sometimes you didn't answer his calls, other times he would find himself clenching his phone as the words "seen" were underneath the text that he sent to you. what were you doing? what was more important than the stolen moments that you two would spend together?
it came to the point where he started stalking your socials constantly, looking for any type of clue to answer this puzzle that was racking his brain. but the answer came sooner than expected when you were all gathered together for lunch with some friends. his fork had fallen to the ground and that was when he noticed someone else casually resting their hand on your thigh. without even thinking, sunghoon immediately wrapped his arm around the nearest person to him that wasn't you, pulling them close as his eyes locked with yours. and in that brief moment that your gazes were fixed on one another, a tang of possessiveness enveloped into your veins. but you brushed it off with a smile. so it turns out sunghoon could get jealous after all.
the next time he asked for you to come over to his apartment. you didn't give much thought into his request. after all, that's normally how it was between the two of you. but your mind couldn't stop playing the events that happened between the two of you at lunch. sure, the two of you didn't have a label. hell, you two weren't even in a relationship —but everything about the events tasted like charred coal as you ran them over in your head. you weren't jealous, were you? no, it was just a trick. your heart playing games. that's what you said in your head over and over again as you knocked on his door.
only seeing sunghoon in a black compression shirt almost made you fall to your knees. he didn't say anything to you as he let you into his apartment. silence lingered in the room as you two just stood there looking at each other. that was of course, until sunghoon finally broke the space between you two, his hands going to the nape of your neck, his fingers just tracing your skin as he continued to look down at you. was he asking you to make the first move? acting on your instincts, you leaned up to kiss him, only for your lips to touch his hand instead.
"i don't want to see anyone else's hands on you. do you understand?" sunghoon said as he tried to read your facial expressions. he moved his hand away from your lips, running it down so that it was resting on your hip. "i'm the only one who gets to touch you,"
KIM SUNOO
his cologne would always linger on your clothes every time you would leave his apartment. that's how sunoo knew that you were his. the same way you knew that sunoo was yours was based on the type of candles he had his home. he would only light the ones that were your favourite scents. call it an unspoken rule, but it was one that you both kept a secret from one another. after all, what you two had wasn't meant to go beyond closed doors. a mutual exchange, for you two to feel ecstasy without the labels or demands of being in a relationship that would pin you two down. it was better this way.
he loved catching a glimpse of you with your friends, knowing that only hours ago, you were a complete mess under his arms, saying his name like a prayer. but what took the cake was knowing that even if you showered, he could still smell his cologne on your body. it was like a calling card of some sorts. which fed into sunoo being completely possessive over you. knowing that wherever you went, the faintest scent of cologne would remain on your skin —a sign that you were his and his alone.
that was, of course, until his scent vanished from your skin. replaced with a new cologne. maybe it was a mistake, maybe you were just around someone that day who had heavy cologne. the solutions came into his head for why he couldn't smell his cologne on your body when you buried your head into his chest when you came over to his apartment. but none of them could explain why it was a reoccurring thing. why you would leave his bedroom, tainted by sunoo, only for him to see you completely unrecognizable with a new scent on your neck instead. it made his head spin trying to come up with possibilities, answers to the question that was taunting his brain. you were supposed to be his. so why did every touch of your skin feel foreign to him when you were beneath him?
jealously was consuming his brain, it was polluting his soul the more you would arrive to his place smelling like someone else. and if the hunch that was continuing to rot in his stomach was true, sunoo bought the candles with scents that weren't to your liking. he was going to catch you slip up. he needed answers to why the girl in his sheets felt like a stranger. was it jealously? or did he have every right to question the person that he had be slowly become so possessive of?
you entered his apartment like usual that night. only what instantly threw you off was the scent that filled the room. it made you take a step back, trying to re-evaluate what had happened. had he been sleeping with another girl? after all, that was the unspoken rule that made you know that he was still yours. who was he sleeping with? how long? the thoughts flooded into your brain, one after another as the aroma continued to flood your nostrils. all while sunoo was leaning against the doorframe of his bedroom, his arms crossed over his chest, watching you take in the change of the environment.
"you've changed the candles," you said slowly as you turned to lock eyes with sunoo. he didn't say anything, just continued to stare at you with a faint smile on his lips, as if he had been planning on you to make that observation. why was he so calm about it? jealously bombarded your thoughts as he continued to stare at you with the calm demeanour. you followed his gaze to see him staring at your clothes then back to the candles. and then it finally clicked.
he made his way toward you, his eyes lingering down to your clothes, knowing that he could smell the foreign cologne on your body. his fingers went up, trailing down from your shoulders to where your sweater rested on your hips. his fingers pulled at the fabric, slowly tugging it up while he looked at you. "i don't ever want to smell someone else's cologne on you again," he started while his hands went down to the waistband of your pants. "you understand?'
YANG JUNGWON
he hated seeing you look at men with that doe-like expression. it wasn't like you meant to do it on purpose, but to jungwon —it was the look that you would give to him in bed. and he hated the thought that something he considered so private, something that was his, was so easily shared when you were out chatting with strangers in public.
so maybe the two of you weren't in a relationship, in fact, you both mutually agreed that you both weren't in the right mental state to be dating. henceforth, why you and jungwon were with one another for all the wrong reasons. and you both knew it. but that didn't stop you from having the most intimate moments, both physical and emotional. even if there was no label that tied you two together, you two had gone down the deep hole of investment into something you both agreed would never work out. which only made things harder, he shouldn't be jealous, he shouldn't claim that facial expression you make as something that was only his. but the pit of resentment continued to curl into jungwon's stomach the more casual it became.
it made him livid to see you use it so casually. were you doing it on purpose? you were just as aware as jungwon was that what the two of you had wasn't a committed relationship. were you just toying with his head? the thoughts slowly formed into a whirlwind in his head the more he took note of your conversations with strangers. seeing how you would tilt your chin up, your eyes doing that thing that made him clench his fists. how many times had you looked at him like that in bed? begged for him, called his name out, only for you to use it as a part of your facial vocabulary. it made him absolutely livid. that was something only he was supposed to have with you. him and no one else.
on the other hand, you couldn't stop noticing jungwon's frustration. it was exhilarating to see him getting mad, how his brows would crease and how he would clench his fists. he would never say it outloud, but you knew that he was jealous. after all, the was the look of desperation, one of submission that you would give to him pleadingly behind closed doors. and here you were, using it like it was nothing. and it itched you to know how upset it made jungwon feel. he had no right to feel jealous, or claim that expression as his own —yet, he was going against his own wishes and falling deeper into his emotions. not like he was going to acknowledge it.
it was as if you were riding on cloud nine knowing that he was jealous. knowing that you had him wrapped around your finger. that the slightest facial expression could send him spiralling. which made going to his apartment all worthwhile as soon as the door to his bedroom closed. you could be raw with him, open, and completely possessive knowing just how much he paid attention to you.
as his lips pressed against yours, it wasn't soft like the previous ones. no, this one was forceful, desperate, almost like jungwon wanted you to know that your lips were his and for no one else. you could feel his hands tracing your body, clinging to you like he wasn't planning on letting you go. you slowly pulled back from his lips, turning to look up at him with that same doe-like expression that you had been using so casually only a couple of hours prior. and he noticed, he fucking noticed.
his hands trailed down to your hips, his fingers slowly sliding your shirt up before running his hands to touch your skin. "we're going to have a problem if you ever look at someone else like that," jungwon said as his lips slowly brushed your neck. his eyes locked with yours, his other hand going to tilt your chin up until your lips were only inches from touching his. "i only want you to look at me like that, no one else. just me,"
NISHIMURA RIKI
keeping it casual with niki seemed like all fun and games until the two of you realized just how much repressed emotions you were hiding from one another. you two were the perfect example of understanding that you two weren't meant to date that this present moment, but oh how you could treat each other right.
with that mentality in mind, it was so easy to be jealous, to be possessive. there was no one else that could do it better, to make you feel better. what made matters worse was how you two weren't verbal about your feelings. emotions were forbidden, it was the only way you two wouldn't fall in deeper for one another. but jealously has a way of making you fall deep. at least, that's what you try to ignore every time you're both at a party. it's closed doors when you're together, which means out in public, the idea of you two being a couple is completely non-existent.
so niki hates it when he's seeing you at a pool table, letting a guy get completely handsy with you as he's teaching you how to play. he hates seeing how this man has his hands on your waist, how he's letting his hands linger as you're leaning forward to line up the short. he hates seeing how your ass accidentally brushes his leg and how there's a stolen glance exchanged between the two of you. his fingers clench the red solo cup in his hand, you'd think he'd choose to look away, but no —his eyes are on you 24/7, watching your every move.
at the same time, you hate it when you see him talking to other girls. how they casually inch themselves closer towards him, placing their hands on niki's chest and dragging him to the dance floor where you can see him place his hands on their hips, as their back is pressed against his chest and they're grinding on one another. it's almost like a competition between the two of you, who can get the other person more riled up with jealously. or will you both give in at the same time?
your eyes lock with him from across the room. his hands still on her hips, your ass still pressed against this guy's leg. it isn't until the man behind you starts wrapping an arm around your waist that niki's eyes narrow at the sight. his hands immediately drop from the girl he's dancing with and he starts walking away. you give into the chase and follow him. his tall figure his easy to spot as you head down the halls, seeing where he's going. niki leads you into an empty room, you close the door and to see him staring at you, a lamp being the only thing illuminating your faces from the darkness.
"don't tell me you were jealous back there," you smile as you make your way towards him. you casually wrap your arms around his waist, leaning up so you can see him looking down at you. he doesn't give you a chance to say anything else, his lips are crashing on you, kissing you with such desperation, reminding you that he's yours. his hands trail down to your hips, slowly going to cup your ass before he pulls away from your lips.
"and what if i was?" he says as a smirk etches on his face. he eyes your body before looking up at you one last time and giving you a long kiss. "i don't like it when other guys touch my girl,"

──── YOU’RE MY HOME 박종성 P. JS ⭑.ᐟ

ꪆৎ ⋆˚࿔ late from work, jay softly reminds you that he’ll always come home to you 。。 ᴄᴇᴏ ʜᴜꜱʙᴀɴᴅ!ᴊᴀʏ x ʀᴇᴀᴅᴇʀ
FLUFF & wc. 1100 + / kisses, skinship, petnames 。。
──── ARCHiVE
jay was tired, but not in the way most people meant when they said it.
his body had long since gotten used to the late hours, to the weight of tailored suits, to the taste of black coffee that never cooled fast enough. he was used to the boardroom lights, the flash of his watch catching on glass tables, the constant ringing of his phone and the never ending parade of decisions.
but tonight…tonight, he was tired in the kind of way that made him ache for you. not just to see you, but to be near you. to breathe you in. to feel your hands, warm and grounding, on the side of his face.
he’d been checking the clock all day, ever since your sleepy voice whispered, “just don’t stay too long this time…i miss you when you’re gone.”
and man—he carried those words with him. carried them through a twelve hour day full of deadlines, contract disputes, networking dinners, and the headache inducing smile he was forced to wear.
so the second he was released, he didn’t even think about going anywhere else. not the bar with his colleagues. not the office to finish that proposal. just home. to you. like you asked.
on the way, he stopped at the only flower shop still open and bought a bouquet of lilies, the big, full ones you loved. he chose the ones with the softest shade of pink laced into the edges of the petals. he held them carefully the entire ride back, cradling them like they were as fragile as how he felt inside.
the apartment was quiet when he opened the door, the light in the entryway casting a soft golden hue on the floor. he stepped in, shoes off, blazer unbuttoned with a tired sigh.
but before he could even call out your name, he saw the shape of you, small and curled, on the couch.
not in your shared bed. not wrapped in the covers like he’d imagined on the drive over. but there, asleep on the couch, one of his old sweaters swallowed around your frame, your face pressed into the armrest.
his heart clenched. you had waited for him. you always waited for him even when you said you wouldn’t. even when he told you not to.
and now you were fast asleep in the quiet glow of the tv screen, half covered in a throw blanket, your body curled tight like you’d just barely drifted off from trying to stay up.
he didn’t say anything at first. just placed the bouquet carefully on the coffee table and crouched beside you, eyes gentle as they took in the curve of your lashes, the rise and fall of your chest, the way one of your hands was still curled around the corner of a pillow.
then he reached forward, brushing your hair back softly, fingers running through the strands like he was soothing a dream from your skin.
“baby,” he whispered, low and warm like a secret. “you fell asleep out here?”
you stirred slowly, brows drawing together, lips parting in a barely there hum. but your eyes didn’t open yet. not until he gently tucked a piece of your hair behind your ear and pressed his palm against your cheek.
your lashes fluttered. you looked up at him, still half asleep, voice quiet and cracked. “jay…?”
he smiled, softer than anything he’d worn all day. “yeah it’s me, my love. i’m home.”
your gaze barely focused, but your lips curved anyway and he leaned down to kiss your temple, then your cheek, then the corner of your mouth. lingering, tender, slow.
“why’re you on the couch?” he murmured again, brushing his thumb across your cheek. you reached for him, hand finding the lapel of his blazer. “i was waiting for you, but i must’ve fallen asleep…”
he leaned closer, resting his forehead against yours. “you’re gonna ruin my heart like this,” he whispered with a weak laugh, eyes shut. you smiled sleepily, “you brought flowers…”
he tilted his head just enough to press another kiss to your hairline. “of course. lilies. you said the house feels calm when they’re here and i want everything calm when i get back to you.”
you were slipping again, warmth seeping into your bones from his voice, from his hands, from the way he cradled your jaw like it was made of glass. but he didn’t let you fall too far.
instead, he slid one arm under your legs and the other behind your back, lifting you gently off the couch before you could fully drift off again. you gasped softly from the motion but wrapped your arms around his neck with ease, letting your head rest against his shoulder.
he carried you like it was the easiest thing in the world. like you weren’t his whole world, curled in his arms, reminding him that this, not boardrooms, not suits, not anything else, was the only thing he wanted to come home to.
“you always carry me,” you mumbled, half asleep. “and i always will,” he whispered into your hair, pressing a soft kiss just above your ear. “even if you’re ninety and scolding me for working too hard, i’ll still pick you up off the couch and carry you to bed.”
you let out a sleepy laugh, nuzzling into his neck, your fingers tracing lazy lines along the back of his collar. “hope you never get tired of me…”
he paused at the bedroom door, looked down at you with so much love it made his chest physically ache. “never,” he said softly. “you’re my peace, baby. i run to you.”
he laid you down gently on the bed, covering you with the comforter like you were the most delicate part of his day. then he loosened his tie, slipped off his blazer, and crawled in beside you.
once he was settled, you reached for him instinctively, pulling him close until his chest was pressed to your back and his hand was splayed against your stomach, holding you like a man starved for softness.
“i missed you,” you whispered. he kissed the top of your shoulder, nose brushing your skin. “i missed you more.”
before the night faded into silence, before sleep truly pulled you under, he murmured the last thing you heard that night.
“don’t ever fall asleep alone out here again, sweetheart. if i’m late, you wait for me in bed. i’ll always come home to you. i promise.” and just like that, his arms around you, the smell of lilies in the air, you believed him. because jay never broke a promise to you. and never would.

°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
you finally arrived at your sister's place, trying your best to close the front door as quiet as possible. in your arms was youngjae, who had already fallen asleep on the way home, tired after the day's events. you had felt bad for the boy, as you were distracted the entire time you spent together after his doctor's appointment. but you couldn't help but drown yourself in self-pity.
of course jay had moved on. he probably met another respectable doctor, somebody who would truly understand his struggles and the ins and outs of his tight schedule. you thought on how they were probably the it-couple at the hospital, everybody in awe on how a couple could be so perfectly intelligent and attractive at the same time.
your bitter thoughts had clouded your mind the entire way home, only slightly quieting down when you had placed youngjae in his crib in his nursery. on a regular day, you would have cooed and taken a million photos of your sleeping nephew. but with everything that had happened today, your eyes started to tear up as you watched over your nephew. you thought of when you and jay were still together, of the times when you two would think of what your little family would look like. looking at your nephew now, you think of how far away those dreams seem to be now.
you cursed yourself for hoping. hoping that one day jay would change his mind and run back to you and appear at your front door, begging you to take him back. today was a clear reminder that it just wasn't happening. declaring a pause at your little pity party, you wiped your own tears away and went to your sister's bedroom.

"hi," he started hesitantly, "i didn't expect to see you again," he said before leading you both inside the examination room. you had struggled to respond, as you were nowhere near mentally prepared for how to handle this situation. so you had simply responded with, "yeah, i guess i've been busy."
jay on the other hand, was having a full-on meltdown inside his head. he had always thought that on the day that he'd see you again, he would be ready to do everything in his power to win you back. he had an elaborate plan on recreating your first few dates, bringing you to your favorite places and doing your favorite activities, to remind you just how good the two of you had once been.
but now, jay feels like he's been slapped in the face. here you are, bringing in your son to his first annual check up. had it been any other scenario, he would have thanked heeseung for passing his patient to him. he looked again at the boy, who had been hiding his face in your neck, clearly shy at meeting this new person. jay felt that the universe was rubbing it in his face, of what exactly he had decided to throw away in exchange for what he thought would make him happy.
jay wanted to ask you so many questions. who was the lucky guy? where did you meet him? how fast did it take you to move on? were you happy? happier than when you had been with him? but jay knew that he had to burry those questions for now, or perhaps forever.

which is why he found himself at the front door of your sister's house, holding a blue gift bag, hoping that your nephew would like his gift. after taking a deep breath, he rang the doorbell, also hoping that he got the address right. but he didn't have enough time to doubt himself, not when the door had opened to reveal you. jay knew that it was bad to stare, but he couldn't help but look at your face, trying to memorize every feature as if you'd disappear from him again.
you had to clear your throat to get his attention, "hey! um, you're just in time. the party is going to start soon," you awkwardly said as you held the door open for him to come inside. jay snapped out of his thoughts, quickly following you inside.
"it's okay," jay said, brushing it off like it was no big deal. you were happy to think that he'd end it there, but he looked at you with a smirk before saying,
"i would accept a date as an apology, though."

you genuinely did not know how you ended up in this situation. there were a million alarms going on in your head, telling you that this was a bad idea. you had no business meeting up with an engaged, possibly even married man. but nothing could stop your heart from fluttering at the thought of going on a date with jay again. the man that still held your heart in his hands.
you look at your reflection in the mirror, clothes strewn at every corner of the room, a result of trying to come up with a decent outfit. you had agreed to grab coffee and pastries at a local cafe after his shift at the hospital, but jay told you that he'd pick you up beforehand.
while waiting for jay to arrive, you couldn't help but think about your first ever date. how nervous, yet excited, you had felt for it. the two of you were just university students, who had crossed paths in an elective subject you shared together. you were paired up with each other for one of the projects. and as one thing led to another, he ended up asking you out on your first ever date.
sometimes your sister's words would echo in your mind, on how all of the stars must have aligned for you to meet. you had thought that it was by chance that you had shared the same random elective in the same semester, and that you had met again at his clinic on accident. and yet, your foolish heart would also like to think that maybe it really was fate that made your paths cross again.
you were brought out of your thoughts by the doorbell of your apartment. you quickly gathered your things and rushed to the door when you were greeted by jay, who had a huge bouquet of lilies in his hand.
