☆゚•*´¨`*•.¸ MOANA COULDN’T HELP but laugh at the girl’s comment. painting was always fun, whether or not you were actually good at it. she’d never really been all that good at it, but you never really knew what you were good at until you tried. and that was exactly how she found herself in an art class, trying to create something fun and cute. much like the girl, there was paint everywhere. in fact, moana was sure she had paint underneath her fingers. “well, i think it looks pretty good. there’s a really elegant style to it, you know. i think maybe a little pink in the right corner!” dipping her paintbrush into yet another blue, she continued with the waves at the bottom of her painting. “well, it’s gonna be a boat getting attacked by the waves, but i haven’t figure out how to make the boat yet. i know what they look like, but the shapes are all funkity.”
"𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗧? 𝗬𝗢𝗨'𝗥𝗘 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗦𝗔𝗬𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗘 𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗘, 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗬𝗔?" as much as she liked her painting, poppy definitely acknowledged it was a little bit of a mess! but still, she replied with a bright smile as the soft giggle parted between her lips. “hm... a little pink in the corner... and maybe a lil pink here, and here, and here -- oh, and here too of course!” slashing her paint brush left and right, the vivid pinks that splattered across her canvas all varied in tints as she couldn’t quite figure out how to get the same one each time she finished her dollop. speaking of boats and waves, she turned her attention to her painting partner-in-crime, eyeing the beautiful blues that curved onto the bottom in awe and admiration. “i’d help but i can’t remember what boats look like for the life of me... i’ve never really been on a boat either before.” huh, now that she thought of it, when was the last time she’d ever gone to the beach? shaking that thought out of her head, she offered a bright smile to the brunette. “i bet you’ll make the most perfect boat of all time! besides, how you see a boat could be different to how i see a boat so you can do whatever you want and it’ll still be super good through the eyes of someone else!”

ᴠᴀɴᴇʟʟᴏᴘᴇ ᴠᴏɴ ꜱᴄʜᴡᴇᴇᴛᴢ.
ₒ°๑ — AFTER she got asked what she thought about the painting, vanellope took a peek at the other’s canvas. they were both in sunnyside’s art class for the summer, but it was obvious their skill level was different, even though poppy was being all humble about it. vanellope was just thankful the assignments weren’t too specific, so she could do whatever she wanted to do. “ what are you talking about ? that’s freaking amazing, yo ! in fifty years, people won’t auction jackson pollock paintings anymore, they’ll only be interested in original poppy kendrick pieces, ” vanellope smiled. she knew nothing about art, but she loved how colorful the painting was. she’d want to put it on the walls of her future house, that’s for sure. “ more pink is always good ! maybe you can mix more colors together and see what happens ? ” vanellope looked back at her own painting, that had simply been sketched out. the colors still needed to be added. she had been working at a slow pace, distracted by everyone else around her. she found looking at other people’s work ten times more interesting than doing art herself. if this could even be called art… “ oh, erm… okay, don’t laugh, but i’m trying to paint my dream cart. like, if nothing was off limits, against the rules of science. this one is going to be made of candy. see those wheels ? the ones in the back are supposed to be made out of cookie sandwiches and the ones in the front are gummies with licorice wheel covers. no black ones, of course, only the colorful ones ! ”
𝗢𝗛 𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗦𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗙𝗟𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗙𝗙... poppy knew that what vanellope had just said was to be polite and all but she couldn’t help but let her pride get the best of her -- a giant smile curled onto her lips, the already dried splatters of green and blue wrinkling as her expression shifted with the compliment. she honestly could’ve hugged the other girl right there and then if not for the fact poppy didn’t want to get them both in a mess! “really? you really think so? they’re not that good! just splatters and stuff everywhere but -- “ she looked closely at her painting, almost touching the still-wet paint with the tip of her nose. “i guess it’s a pretty gosh dang good painting too!” at her friend’s suggestion, her hands made her way to the reds and the whites, spluttering them all together in the hopes of finding the perfect shade of pink to go with this. after all, all pinks were different and she needed the absolute perfect tint! however, upon listening to her friend describe her painting, poppy’s eyes widened and her mouth gaped in a small ‘o’ in amazement before leaning over to get a better look at this dream cart. “are you kidding? like -- how can i even make fun of that? that’s the coolest thing i’ve ever heard in my life! a cart.. made of candy... man, wouldn’t that be an absolute dream, huh?” at the mention of no dark colors allowed, she couldn’t help but let out a soft giggle. “well duh! why would anyone wanna paint with black especially on an uber cool cart like this! even the outline!”

name: poppy kendrick. age: twenty. gender: cis female. face claim: cleo lazuli. residence: university dorms, walter elias university campus. based on: princess poppy, trolls.

ever since she was a baby, poppy had always been full of happiness and viewed the world through rose-colored glasses. this, however, wasn’t technically a bad thing. her father, her cousins, her aunts, and uncles, they were all exactly the same! family reunions always included singing and dancing that went on until the beautiful pink and orange of the sunrise was seen! she, of course, was the brightest of them all, always welcoming everyone with a big hug and smile and she made more than sure to never let anyone feel left out. her father couldn’t have been more proud of his daughter who was always a pleasure to have around, according to his equally pleased friends and family.
however, leaving the small village that she grew up in to study abroad in sunnyside was a task that poppy was not necessarily prepared for. coddled and protected all her life from the harsh realities of life, poppy did not expect her peppy nature to be rejected so… coldly, from other people. she had spent all her life in the little village surrounded by friends and family, where hugs were currency and smiles were thrown around everywhere and now – in a place she did not know, she felt more alone than ever. but in no way, shape or form would poppy ever let a frown poison her eternal happiness! nothing could keep her down as long as she kept that smile on her face and always put one foot forward.
thankfully, she wasn’t the only one to study in sunnyside. along with her group of childhood friends came the… let’s say “work in progress” of the group, brandon guffin. no one really knows how these two became friends: some say that he eventually gave in to becoming a part of their group, other’s say that poppy secretly threatened him with a smothering of hugs if he didn’t. who knows! but the two are certainly an odd pair but can’t really be seen without the other anymore… strike that – poppy is always seen bugging brandon about god knows what and for the most part, he puts up with it (despite the obvious irritation and reluctance). she sees it as her personal goal to somehow lift his spirits from whatever dark cloud constantly rained over his parade!
poppy, despite the rejection and sometimes judgement of those who can’t accept her perkiness, maintains her always positive attitude, never letting that image down. however, there are times where she disappears for a few days. her friends, as much as they love her, now know that when poppy disappears its for her own betterment. sometimes she needs those cool down days to let go and relax because god knows that being eternally happy can be a burden sometimes… in these moments, she refuses to let anyone see her sad or upset or tired, so she leaves until she’s feeling better. the only person who has ever seen poppy lose her color is brandon and she’s made him swear to never bring it up ever again. poppy tries not to let things bother her but sometimes she simply can’t help it…
she isn’t quite sure what she wants to do in the future just yet – her father, back in their little village, was often the one who organised public events and held speeches and was generally the one that people looked up to when they needed help. that role eventually passed over to poppy when her father grew older. poppy knew that people had high expectations for her back in her village, which is why she had decided to go abroad in the first place (to come back with some new knowledge!). and as much as she would love to move back home and be with her friends and family and one day help organise and plan her own events, discovering the world was much bigger than her little village made her question what she wants to do…

"𝗜 𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝗜'𝗠 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗚𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗔𝗧 𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚, but i know i’m not really that good at it. but y’know? that’s okay!” paint had managed to splatter everywhere possible -- on her chest, on her face, on her hands and on her shirt, but poppy didn’t mind. in fact, wasn’t that what made painting a little more fun? getting down and dirty with the tsunami of colors splattered along an abstract canvas with no real meaning! she was more than happy to be there, no real image of what she wanted to do in mind but hey, who cared about that sort of thing in the first place? leaning back on her stool as she created a little frame with her fingers, her tongue gently poking out on the side of her mouth, she observed. “what d’ya think? needs more pink, right? i don’t think i’ve got anymore left either but that’s okay!” leaning over, poppy casted a look at the other painting. “whatcha trying to make?”
