Hi! I'm Amy, and this is a dragon age sideblog for @blue-harebells. Mostly character aesthetics tbh. Blog is a massive w.i.p. Sidebar icon is by @dalishous

Man… Can we talk about the Brosca origin? You literally come from nothing. You’re worth less than dirt in the eyes of everyone else, and all you have is your sister, an abusive alcoholic mother, and a criminal ringleader. It’s the lowest origin. You don’t even have the community of the alienage like you do in the Tabris origin; you literally only have yourself.
And then Duncan comes and gets you after it finally goes wrong, and you’re propelled from being no one at all to being pretty much the Chosen One within like. A couple of days. And you go through the game, doing everything you can, making connections with arls and kings, but none of it’s yours. None of it’s dwarven. You’re in an alien world, and the sky is so big you think you’ll fall into it, but you just keep going.
Then you come back to Orzammar, and if you’re like me, it’s usually the last quest you do before the Landsmeet, and here’s where it all clicks. You have gone from a casteless nobody to a Grey Warden wearing beautiful armor and having your friends by your side and wielding the power of the entire surface country behind you. Your power supercedes everyone there. You are the one who decides who will be king.
But the best thing about it is that you’re not alone. Rica, entirely by her own virtue, has risen to impossible heights. You’ve both risen from destitution to become more than you could have imagined at the beginning of the game. Your mother’s still a dirtbag, but who cares? You have a nephew! You have your sister! You don’t have to fight for your next meal anymore!
The brand on your face is no longer a mark of shame. It’s your pride inked into your skin, and you’ve got the power to march into the royal palace, look the king in the eye and say things are going to change around here.
Because no one will challenge you, a living Paragon. And you won’t leave a single duster behind.

The Champion of Kirkwall was a staunch supporter of the mage rebellion, and abandoned her title and the city to help lead a sect of the rebellion after the thwarted Annulment of the Kirkwall Circle. While many see her as a traitor at best, just as many will fervently defend the former Champion.

Josephine Montilyet is a noble from the nation of Antiva. She was educated in Val Royeaux, where she built connections among the court. Once she finished her schooling—at a surprisingly young age—Lady Montilyet became the official diplomat between King Fulgeno of Antiva to Empress Celene of Orlais. The appointment suits her. She is well travelled, familiar with many forms of etiquette, and by all accounts a skilled negotiator.

Asaaranda Adaar is the first daughter of two Tal-Vashoth. Her mother was an artisan under the Qun while her father was a Sten. Her mum’s work making furniture mostly supported the small family until they found a small community of Tal-Vasoth.
Asaaranda joined with the Valo-Kas mercenaries when she was seventeen, her adopted sister Wenna joining up with her - much to their parent’s horror - to help pay for the community’s expenses. Asaaranda was sent to the Conclave as a neutral party (and also as a curious apostate) while Wenna stayed with the main group - and, well. We know that went crap.

Senior Enchanter Delphine Trevelyan (b. 8:98 Blessed) was a former member of Ostwick’s Circle. When the other Circles rose in rebellion, Delphine was eager to follow - but the First Enchanter was not. Eventually, the Templars sought to carry out the Rite of Annulment regardless of the Circle’s neutrality, and everyone was forced into rebellion.
Along with most of the other senior Enchanters, Delphine went to the Conclave to discuss the Mage Rebellion with no intent to settle for anything shorter than full freedom. Of course, things went wrong - since when did they not?
