Tidbit about Atlas. We got the results of his hip x-ray a little while back. There’s a very thin piece of metal in his hip. My Vet described it as similar to one of the metal bristles in a barbecue grill brush, very thin and narrow, about an inch long. I hate to know what happened to him before he was rescued. I always assumed he got hit by a car, but now it makes me wonder if he was truly abused. 😡 My vet said there’s no inflammation around it or abscess so leaving as is for now and monitoring is best course of action. His hips and joints and bones otherwise look perfect. Also his other tests came back negative. I can’t change the past, but I’ll make sure your future erases any bad memories you might have Atlas. I promise.

A little about our new boy Atlas, formerly Happy!

From the rescue:

“Happy was rescued from MCACC where he had been E-Listed for a chronic limb injury. He had an old break that healed in a poor position causing chronic inflammation, pain and a joint out of socket. At his young age and high energy, Happy was likely running on adrenaline in the shelter as his x-rays indicated pretty clearly that he could feel way more than he was letting on. Because there may be risk for future injury, Happy’s front leg was amputated and he is a new ’Tri-Pawd’—Don’t worry, he is still the sweetest, happiest boy living up to his name!”

Atlas is literally like a mix between River and Loki, it’s so weird and wonderful at the same time! He was listed as an Akita/Husky mix at county, but they never get things right. I have ordered a DNA+Health and Age test for him and will update when I know more! The shelter estimates he’s around 3.
