It started as a Terzo’s project (about Deus in Absentia) but I decided to extend it to his brothers too. I may add Copia and V eventually, don’t know when.

I don’t know why I can’t get the isolated Primo’s background white even though I literally select white like for the others 🤨 white apart, I kinda feel like I can’t draw anymore, so I’m posting it even if I’m not really satisfied.

Papa Emeritus III, exhaling his last breaths on his deathbed, grabs the arm of a nearby ghoul.

“He’s going to speak his last will,” some clergymen whisper. Some nuns gasp and look away; others lean closer to hear the Pope’s final wishes.

“…Do not ever…” he begins, his voice weakening from the struggle, the tension in the room thickening, “…EVER let Global Merchandising create a fucking plushie with my face.”

You keep thinking about quintessence ghouls being cute..,

I’m thinking about fire kits learning that curtains can catch fire!

Oh I've had plenty of those thoughts thanks to Alpha and Ifrit having a kit (Cinder) .

The elements being driven by emotion, and fire ghoul kits first little temper tantrums can get explosive. (Cinder's first resulting in Alpha panic-begging Mist to put her flames out because it's not like he can do it, he's fire too, for fuck sake.) .

Fire ghoul kits who think the flames are fun, get giggly and excited when they clap their hands and sparks come out.

Fire ghoul kits who need fire-proof clothes because they'll otherwise just keep setting themselves on fire when they're excited or angry. This includes sleep with dreams and nightmares.

Fire ghoul kits who are bad at regulating their body temperatures and leave scorch marks on everything they touch for a while.

Unfortunately due to Bug being very good with kits, he does often end up in the nursery to look after them. A fire extinguisher is always handy. Think Jack Jack and his babysitter from The Incredibles haha.

(and don't get me started on water ghouls hiccuping out bubbles).

Ghoul kits are rarely born on the surface.

It’s just not ideal for kits to develop away from the infernal energies of the pits, and usually it leads to the parents being very protective.

So when Mountain is restlessly walking through the woods one night, he’s not entirely sure that he hears that little cry in the distance…

He finds a kit, around the size of a human toddler, maybe a little smaller. And absolutely no trace of the pit on them.

The little kit is dithering in the cold and curled up on his side.

Mountain’s heart aches as he rips off his own shirt to wrap around the tiny Ghoul.

As Mountain lifts the kit, cradling him against his chest, his soul bursts with the overwhelming need to care for the little life.

And maybe, he raises the little Ghoul by his own hand, keeping him as much a secret as he could. Earth Ghouls are very territorial and protective after all, add in the protectiveness for a kit away from Hell. And Mountain knows that if the kit’s birth parents ever tried to reclaim him, he would go APESHIT.

And maybe that Ghoul grows up to be Phantom.

So when Aether announces his retirement and Papa talks about needing a new Quint, Mountain goes against his want to keep his kit (albeit now a fully grown adult) all to himself,

“My kit knows how to play.”

Kits are the biggest nappers, of course they need it to conserve energy so they can grow but it's also because they just like it. They bug their caretaker to pouch or tuck them into their feathers, they even nip at their tails/ankles. This napping behavior follows them into early adulthood, newer ghouls like phantom can be found napping whenever they can between tasks and events. Phantom always looks eepy, clinging to dewdrop or mountain for warmth.

Ghoul Kit hcs cause they make me feel maternal

Ghoul kits are smaller than human babies, since they usual come in pairs/litters. They’re about the size of newborn puppies, but look more like kittens. They begin to take in a more humanoid look around three months.

All kits regardless of their element are born with fur. Some will lose their fur as the age, others will get new coats. Water ghoul kits have back fins, which will eventually split into legs.

Horns/antlers aren’t usually present at birth, though it has happened. This can cause complications during natural labors.

They’re born with their ears and eyes closed, both of which tend to open around 2-3 weeks.

Teeth and claws start growing around 6 months.

Fire and air kits are the noisiest. Kits communicate throw howls, purrs, squeaks, and chirps.

Earth kits are usually the tamest/“easiest” to handle, with fire kits being the opposite.

Quint litters tend to carry 2-3 kits. For earth ghouls, it’s almost always 3. Fire ghouls and air ghouls, 3-5. Water ghouls have the largest litters, usually between 4-6. Multis vary. While rare, it is possible for only a single kit to be born at a time.

Kits are almost always raised communally, with pack members stepping in to help out new parents. In The Pit, kits are easy prey; the more protection, the better.

Ghouls may become defensive if non-members of their pack attempt to interact with a young kit.

They love cuddles! They can often be found in a cuddle pile with their siblings/other pack kits, or in someone’s arms.

Older kits are very curious, and tend to wander about. As a result, their parents will heavily scent them so they can track them down if they get lost.

Thinking about Quintessence ghoul kits and their sparkly constellation skin.

Thinking about how the older ghouls gather them onto a dark room, all blanket forts and pillows and a starry night projector.

Thinking about how Phantom is just so good with the kits that he's always assigned to look after them. Lays down in the middle of the room and the kits just flock to him like a group of kittens and they all stare at the 'sky' together until the kits fall asleep, curled up into Phantom's sides until he has no choice but to stay there with them and drift off the same.

Because they're all made of starlight and wonder, and Phantom would do all he can to protect that.
