Derry Christmas
Graham Daniels has said in as many words that Shaun Derry has 4 games to save his job. He has also demanded an “attractive brand of football”. A leopard is not going to change its spots that quickly. Why delay the inevitable? Candidates should have been given the Christmas period to assess the squad and then the January window to get the squad sorted. It does at least feel like we’re getting closer.

The Dogg is Out
Dave Doggett, without understatement, has arguably been the best Chairman ever at Cambridge United. He has steered a languishing Conference club to the football league, revolutionising the business and has been a true fans Chairman. Unfortunately his undoing would appear to be his backing of a dud in Shaun Derry. While we should be eternally grateful for what he has done for this club, he got further and further from being in touch with the fans as time went on. His last programme notes stated he was puzzled by the negativity from fans, which is as bizarre as his backing of Derry. It would be fantastic if Dave could find a way to stay involved, but not as top Dogg. The continual backing of Derry is dangerous and being so far out of touch means some fresh ideas and a new direction are necessary. We hope this change at the top brings about common sense and Derry will shortly be relived of his duties. Up the U’s.

Truly spoken like a man who has been in position for over 2 years. Still no clue on a winning system, still talking about needing transfer windows and still not scoring any goals.

The day before a game and this is all the latest news on the official club website. Not one article of the last 8 is anything to do with football.

Duke of Cambridge supports Cambridge United community scheme
We’ve got a game against Port Vale tomorrow and no sign of a preview yet. Yet they’ve found the time to get royalty to endorse a community scheme. How many football clubs don’t have the football team at the top of their agenda? Derry is the luckiest manager in football.

The look on Derry if ever BBC Cambs strike up the courage to ask him how he’s going to get the side scoring more goals.
