Being so for real where you go i’m going by @cameronwolfe doesn’t have anything to do with twilight other than that there is a very important fruit at one point. Three important fruits if you count vi and Caitlyn. If somehow you have not read this fic I am absolutely rabidly insane about it, (which is also how I felt about twilight when I was 13, another parallel to twilight) and really extrapolates on Vi’s pitfighter era and her time in Stillwater in such a sensitively and beautifully written way while also being fucking hilarious

Honestly I am woefully under-read when it comes to long fics in this fandom. So I am really opening this back up to everyone else to see if they have suggestions here bc I wanna know what to read

Fave completed top!Cait long fic I HAVE read is hands down Come Over and Love Me by @esotericarms - which in addition to having a really fun and intoxicating and sweet dynamic bwtn Caitlyn and Vi is also just seeded throughout with rich details and incredible music. I'm not even a band AU guy like EVER because I'm picky and a snob, but I genuinely think the music (and the way music is written ABOUT) in this fic enhances instead of distracts. Genuinely really adore this story.

But anyway yeah - does anyone else have more recommendations? 👀

Another thing I’ve been thinking about with how overly OVERLY debated caitvi is within its own niche in the fandom, is how strongly people feel like everyone must reach the same consensus. Like we really don’t all have to agree and come to the same conclusions on their gender identities or expressions. I’m not going to like someone portraying vi as feminine but I’ll just move on and ignore it. We all can choose to do that, we don’t have to build little social media campaigns vilifying shit as inconsequential as interpretation of fictional characters. The block button and back button are right there.

I’ve vented about this before too but I really don’t like the way it feels like these kinds edicts and people on twitter in general think they can dictate what is acceptable to write about and what is acceptable to read. Like the existence of sexual assault in fiction is as abusive as the real thing, and is somehow inflicting a real and actual violence on the reader just by existing passively. And how I feel like this is coming from people who are just uncomfortable about it and don’t want to read it OR are triggered and projecting that on everyone in their radius. OR think they’re rescuing helpless SA victims from something. Like thanks I can read tags and just stop reading anytime because I have autonomy and am not a child 👍

Ok the stupid kinktober thing is still on my mind even though there’s really not much else to be said about it. I just can’t get over the idea of having to write a constructed bdsm scene within an already fictional scene. There’s a good fic you could write that’s about introducing kink into the relationship and negotiating that but the way these rules are written that is the ONLY fic you can write with some slight variations on what kinks you’re including.

It’s just like this thing where characters are treated like real people instead of narrative tools. I get feeling emotionally attached to characters, I get not wanting to read a character you really like being hurt or hurting another character and I get in general wanting to stay away from what people categorize under dead dove — graphic rape, incest, violence, etc. but these fics are also incredibly niche and furthermore are fiction!!! Honestly it wouldn’t bother me if someone wrote (and certainly already has) a rape scene that was not at all consensual, because it is fiction. It isn’t real. And I don’t have to read it either if I don’t want to! And even if I do read it and it upset me I could stop reading.
