She works at a research facility that does a bunch of nerd shit that most research facilities do: test prototype weapons and equipment, explore border-worlds and other galaxies via portal machinery, experiment with unknown alien stuff, become engulfed in a portal storm that leads to an infectious alien hivemind invasion on the facility. Usual stuff. Hazfat is a slight slob herself, loves any sort of fizzy drinks as much as she loves TV and never wearing anything aside from a tank top, she's not the brightest, in fact she didn't even get this job the usual way, she got the position of "Research expeditioner" by spending her first two years as a test subject for the prototype hazmat suits. The one she currently wears is the most recent model for scientists as it protects against almost every recorded hazard and even has liquid armor protection against oncoming projectiles
