To say Hazel was struggling with being a single mother would be the understatement of the century. It was never where she had seen herself ending up. Coupled with her post-partum depression, Hazel felt like she was drowning. She was beyond happy to have friends like Storm who understood exactly what she was going through. She smiled as she entered the bar, quick to wrap her arms around Storm. “Hey! I’ll drink to that, mate. God knows that we both need it, yeah?” She had made sure to text Storm what drink she wanted before she showed up. Hazel clinked her beer against his drink. “Cheers! You know me. It’ll be every five minutes.” She chuckled slightly.

probably storm’s greatest achievement was raising his little girl by himself for the best part of eight years, but he couldn’t be more grateful for when charlie entered his life and shared the parenting responsibilities with him. it was why he tried to help hazel out as much as he could, even if that was sometimes just taking her away from the life of being a mom and allowing her to let her hair down sometimes. he knew he needed it so badly when he was a single parent to evie, so he could definitely relate to that need to unwind. settling into hq bar, storm clinked his glass to hazel’s and grinned, “to having the night off!” the man chuckled, “and no doubt frantically texting to make sure they’re doing okay at least once every ten minutes.”

Is there a patient you've treated that stands out to you?
“The kiddos always stand out to me the most. I just want to hold ‘em tight and tell them everythin’s gonna be alright. Some of ‘em are wiser than most adults I know, some of them are rays of sunshine, all of them are tough warriors.”

Do you miss Australia?
“Sure do, mate. Half the time I’m not sure why I bother stickin’ ‘round here. But if I had never moved here I would never have my daughter. That’s worth everything.”

hiya friends! here is my third child, hazel. this is just a few quick bullet points but i’ll have her full bio listed on her page shortly.
Tumblr media
NAME: hazel odette johnson AGE: 26 BIRTHPLACE: sydney, australia OCCUPATION: nurse HOGWARTS: ravenclaw
hazel grew up in sydney, australia to a wealthy politician and a lawyer. they were extremely focused on work, leaving hazel to mainly be raised by nannies. she often got lonely but her parents taught her to work hard and provide.
she was studious in school and rarely partied. everybody knew her parents so hazel felt like she needed to be perfect. it was a lot of pressure. deep down, hazel never thought she quite lived up to her parents’ expectations. this only pushed her to work harder.
although hazel was warm and friendly, she was selective about people that she let close because she didn’t want to risk getting distracted by bad influences.
when she was 17, hazel realized that she liked both boys and girls. she was nervous about coming out to her parents. her parents weren’t thrilled but tolerated it, as long as hazel kept it quiet so as not to damage their reputations.
hazel wanted to live her life to the fullest so she moved to san francisco, ca after hearing about how accepting it was for the lgbtq+ community. she went to college to become a nurse. she didn’t talk to her parents much since the move but she still wanted her parents to be proud of her career choice.
it was in her final year of schooling that she met the woman who would one day become her fiancee, elaheh. they were total opposites. while hazel was your typical type-a personality and workaholic, elaheh was a free spirit. they were drawn to each other from the start. they fell in love fast. but, just as quickly, the relationship turned toxic. they fought all the time because of their clashing personalities. additionally, elaheh struggled with drug addiction. but hazel never lost faith in their love. the day of her graduation, hazel proposed. elaheh said yes.
soon after, hazel and elaheh decided they wanted to bring a child in the picture. a child that would be biologically elaheh’s but carried by hazel. dreams became a reality and hazel fell pregnant. she wanted a fresh start. she wanted to get elaheh away from the drug scene and have a brighter future for their child. they moved to lakewood, ca where hazel had some family.
the move worked… for a while. grace aneesa johnson was born. it was the happiest day of hazel’s life. then things began to unravel once and for all. elaheh resented hazel for the move; hazel resented elaheh for not sobering up and being more present for their child. elaheh left hazel before grace turned one. they agreed to share custody of their daughter.
grace is now 18 months old. although months have passed, hazel hasn’t gotten over the pain of the breakup. she truly thought that she could change elaheh’s behavior— 1) addiction is a disease, 2) but she’s been forced to accept that the only person you can fix is yourself. hazel became severely depressed. if it wasn’t for grace, hazel doesn’t know what would happen.
hazel buries herself in her work to distract herself from the pain. she only goes out(on days when she doesn’t have grace) when her coworkers and friends force her. hazel tries to put on a happy front but most people can tell how badly hazel is struggling with her new status as a single mother.
