The wind blew through the partially opened window, Ryan was speeding home, trying to not think of what could be lurking in the shadows of the forest on either side of his car. He knew that most of the stories and legends weren't true but his mind knew to trick him sometimes.
"Ryan" the whisper zapped through him like a taser, making his limbs go numb for a split second. He immediately stopped the car, luckily this late at night the mountain road wasn't very well populated. Turning around he inspected the back seat, fear coursing through his body. Nothing. He thought it must've been the wind making a strange noise, or maybe it made him dizzy, either way he closed it before starting the journey back home once more.
This time the hum of the car engine was his only company, the only light was from his dim phone, telling him the way to his house. He cursed quietly at the people who stole his car radio two weeks ago, knowing if he had some music on he could put his mind to rest.
"I miss you Ryan" the whisper was back. This time he stopped the car and immediately jumped out. Seeing his mistake he ran back quickly, hands scrambling to find the flashlight he kept in the cup holder. Once it was in his grasp he shined it on the back seat, half of him expecting to see Samara from The Ring, but nothing was there. This time he thought about it, running back to check the trunk of his car. The eerie darkness of the forest was doing nothing to calm his nerves. Opening the trunk, only a few flies and moths flew out, attracted to the light in his hand. "Must have been feeding well" he thought, closing the empty, stained trunk.
The walk back to his front seat seemed like it took forever, the crackle of gravel under his feet, unseen noises from behind the tree line that would stop whenever he put the light on the source. Finally getting to his car starting it back up and deciding he knew the road well enough to not use a GPS, he opened Spotify on his phone, hoping the 3% he had left could at least last until he got to the edge of the city.
Not 2 songs later the music abruptly stopped, he glanced down only to see the Samsung logo on a black screen. Dead. "It's okay" he thought "only 3 miles till I see city lights" The middle aged man was unnerved, his previous encounters from the night flashing through his mind, intrusive thoughts he could not seem to fan away.
"Come here Ryan" something grabbed his arm, he could feel the long nails digging into his skin, the panic that filled him caused him to swerve the car, crashing directly into a tree on the right. It took Ryan a second to regain his composure. He stared wide eyed in front of him, his eyes landing on something carved into the bark of the wood. A heart, with the initials “R+S” carved crudely in the middle. This must’ve been where he buried her six months ago

all of the stories written on this blog are purely fiction and are in no way shape or form condoning violence
most if not all of the things i write are intrusive thoughts, i have pretty bad anxiety and suspected ocd, so i get a lot of intrusive thoughts throughout the day, unfortunately a lot of them are very graphic and aggressive in nature, i would never act upon any of them and am simply making the best out of the situation, sharing them as stories on tumblr
