Okay I LOVE Dr. STONE. I am obsessed, it is the ideal anime, truly the most anime of anime. But I have one singular massive gripe as an etymology nerd.

You know how geography changes a ton over 3,700 years? You know what else changes over time?? LANGUAGE

HOW ARE SENKU AND ISHIGAMI VILLAGE ABLE TO TALK TO EACH OTHER?????

I mean anyone on this app over the age of 30 can attest how much language changes over just one or two generations!

Have any of you tried to read Shakespeare recently? That shit was only 400 years ago and I can barely tell what he is talking about half the time.

Have you ever tried to read OLD ENGLISH? THEY DONT EVEN USE THE SAME LETTERS. TRANSLATING THAT SHIT INTO MODERN ENGLISH IS AN ENTIRE CAREER FIELD. NOW MULTIPLY THAT DIFFERENCE BY 3.

Every time I think too hard about Senku and Chrome talking to each other with different little modern colloquialisms, it completely destroys my immersion.

some people dont understand how husband material senku is. he would be the most patient husband ever. its literally canon that he NEVER gets angry. he stated himself its a waste of time and doesnt solve problems. even taiju himself said he never sees senku getting mad. mind you theyre friends since ZYGOTES and NEVER ONCE taiju ever seen THE senku being angry.

Man, i love Dr. Stone and how it shows so much love for curiosity and the passing of knowledge. I love seeing Senku so happy watching Chrome find the answers with the knowledge he is acquiring.

I love how thinking about the stories of the past Suika gives a guide to building a new way to problem solving, which is not really new! but knowledge is cyclical and Chrome's wit rediscovers it AAAAAAH,

I love how ancient knowledge of the Vikings that Ryusui remembered is now just as useful and once again drives humanity to find its way at sea!

I love how creativity is so loved, how every skill is appreciated and valued as a fundamental piece to rebuilding the world. I always say this, but this series really feels like a love letter to humanity's perseverance, curiosity and will!!

Tried to figure out what hair cut Senku would have irl (because there’s no way in hell a real living person can have that hair) and the only possible solution I could come up with is a death hawk. And of course, I had to see how it would look. So here’s a quick sketch!
