In this interview, you can read about my vision for the second installment of "the BAD GUYS"!!

In the director's vision, the sequel is "about Mr. Wolfe, who has served his sentence, and what life is like for him there in society.

He also said he would like to see those characters again as himself.

The Bad Guys interview with director Pierre Perifel

🏳️‍🌈First, I just really want to thank you all for crafting that really beautiful scene of Mr. Wolf and Mr. Snake expressing their feelings while falling into the crater. I don't know of any other major animated film that was courageous enough to have one guy clearly and genuinely express love for another guy. It really means a lot to me and I'm sure to many others in the queer community. with Pride Month coming up, I just kind of wanted to ask if you guys personally feel that Mr. Wolf and Mr. Snake's relationship runs a little bit deeper than simply “best buds."

Pierre Perifel (director): "That's a great question . For me, it was honestly, you know ... really expressing the fact that ... when you're vulnerable you really can't express your feelings , you know , whether it's your best pal or it's your girlfriend or your wife or your children , just being able to really be there because that's what Wolf was unable to do throughout this story , right , where , " I'm afraid of his reaction , I'm afraid to tell him that I'm changing , and I feel like I'm ..." He felt so guilty at the idea of changing to go good and his best friend would never accept that , but I think he never was able to really open up , and that's what that moment illustrated for me . It's like ... let all the shield - peel all of the onion - anyway we're gonna die in a second , you know ( or so you think ) -let me tell how much I love you, and be completely okay with that because you're right, I mean, it's not the kind of stuff that we easily do or easily show in a story, right ? "

"In my opinion , I ... don't ... know , I don't think there's something more than just pure , you know , deep friendship and love . But I think ... who knows , you know , I mean those characters evolve also by themselves , and they may be more than that . In my head , they are not , you know , but [ laughs ] you know , there might be more there I don't know - but I love the idea that , you know , we are liberated to be able to do this , you know . That was very important for me."

You guys mentioned the scene that was cut that was supposed to be a flashback of Mr. Wolf and Mr. Snake , and I was just wondering if you - ' cause we're probably never gonna be able to see it , I would imagine , so I was hoping you could kind of explain what was going to happen in that scene and why it was ultimately cut .

Pierre Perifel: "Well, I don't know if we're never going to see it - maybe , maybe there is - if there is a sequel - I'm gonna tell you- [ everyone excited and laughing ] I'm gonna tell you what's happening in this scene . It's basically it was the encounter of Snake and Wolf and how they became best buds . They were kids. Wolf actually wants to play with other kids at school and shows up , but because he's a wolf everyone's afraid of him , and he ends up being punished and ends up in detention for something he hasn't done . Basically , story of their lives , right ? They always get punished for something they haven't done - a crime they haven't done - and so he ends up in detention , and there in detention is Snake. And they're exactly in the same boat , and they're young , you know , so he's got braces and they immediately bond together . It's like ... " Why are you here ? " and Wolf is like , " Well , I just wanted to play with them . What about you , why are you here ? " And Snake says , " [ shrugs ] Snake . " So basically , because I'm a snake I'm here . And so they're like , " It would be great if we could have our own place , you know , where we could be safe , our own island . " And so they start drawing that island of them being them. So , the story ends up not being this , and I really wanted to build that connection between these two characters , but I felt like a flashback was a little cheesy as well . It was not fitting the style that I wanted for this movie , and so therefore this is why we have that scene at the opening of the film . That scene was not always there , that , you know , " Pulp Fiction " scene was ... not there on the very first cuts."

"It sets up the relationship , yeah . And it really allows , like the point was like , okay , on top of that we layer in the birthday idea , which also sets up the whole dynamic within the " family " if you will , but that scene was always supposed to be super mundane conversation of two best friends joking and teasing each other and just , you know , just before - like it's so relaxed , and it does so much heavy lifting of setting up that relationship , also setting up the rules of the world in which those guys are the only animals scaring everybody around , and then the cinematic rules as well- " Oh my god this is one shot , and this is such a reference to Pulp Fiction and Tarantino , and so ... this is gonna be something different " you know . And so that was like - there was so much heavy lifting being done in this one sequence . So that's ... but it was not always there - it used to be a flashback . I like it much better this way by the way."x

こっからは日本語で、映画「バッドガイズ」試写会感想です！

物語の「悪者」 にされる動物達。

そんなわかりやすいメッセージ性をかっ飛ばしてく派手なカーチェイスにアクション、二転三転するストーリー。

一瞬のシリアス要素は随所に挟みつつも、派手な展開がガンガン来るエンタメ映画。

女装得意な鮫とかお腹弱いピラニアとか、ギャグで終わりそうなキャラにも見せ場(しかも複数)あるのが好き。

警察署長とウルフのやり取りは、監督が影響受けた作品として上げた「ルパン三世」を彷彿とさせた。

警察署長は銭形警部よりも、ガラも性格も悪すぎて笑ったけど。

何より悪い奴らなりの友情に燃えた！

やりたい放題悪行三昧な過去話とかも見てみたいな。

Blu-rayだと過去の泥棒事件エピソードがあったけど、あれは日本版Blu-rayには収録してくれるんだろうか。

予想される展開裏切ってった綺麗なオチも好き。

吹き替えはすごく良かった!

英語版に声寄せてくれて感動した。

特にシャークとピラニア、 ウェブス3名。

ピラニアの歌は原曲をSpotifyでずっと聴いてた。 吹替だと歌詞が英語から日本語になってるのに、声と演技で原曲雰囲気そのままなのは本気で感動した。

ウルフとスネークは初見で声違うな? と思ったけどすぐ慣れたし格好良かった。というかキャラに あってた。

スネークとか掠れたドラ声寄りだけど それが後半の演技にすごく合うんだ。

あとキャストまだ出てないんだけどマーマレード 教授(山口勝平さん)とダイアン市長(甲斐田裕子さ ん)も良かったと思う。

原作好きなんで原作との比較も。

映画: 悪者が善人になる振りをしてさらに悪事を働こうとする話。

原作: ウルフ曰く 「誤解」 を受けてる悪者達が良いことをして受け入れられようとする話。

性格も見た目も設定も全然違う。ただ根本的には同じだと思った。

原作者さんもがっつり製作に関わってるしね。

漫画のエピソードを構図そのまま映画に取り込むとか個々の能力とかわかりやすいとこだけでなく、ピラニアの空気読まなすぎる発言に気弱そう に慌てるシャークとか、ふとした仕草でこいつ原 作の××だ! てなるのが楽しかった。

スネークはなんかイケメンなスネークさんでした (原作だとレベルの高いヤバイ奴とイケメンを行っ たり来たりするキャラクター)。

あと映画は原作1~4巻ベースだけど、5巻からハード燃え展開になるからぜひ5巻まで読んで欲しい。

5巻6巻日本語版は、9月15日刊行予定!

11巻から始まる2章は多元宇宙の危機とか裏切りとか鬱要素ありのSFで度肝を抜かれました。

でも友情は燃えるのでやっぱりおすすめ(現在15巻まで、20巻で完結予定)。

Volume 16 will be released on November 1.

In Australia, it will be released on October 1.

Volume 15 was released long ago, but Amazon hasn't sent it to me yet, so I haven't been able to read it 😹.

I'm really curious what happened to them 🐍.
