Interior House Painting - Masking Tape - Tips and Tricks
"An excellent piece of art work captures the essence of the subject matter as translucented the eye of the artist. A terrific piece of art work exposes the inner-workings of the artist and links to the audience on a human level.
I beginning this post by mentioning that I tend to shy away from composing pieces that have a personal or emotional connection to me; nevertheless, who much better to discuss the career of an artist that has spanned almost 5 years then someone who has observed it first-hand?
I am discussing my father, Raymond J. Wattenhofer, Jr. He is the quintessential example of the guy who has soaked up everything the world needs to provide and in turn recorded those experiences on canvas. Judging from the point at which he started his walk through this world, you 'd believe he 'd be the last one to reveal his observations on life through paintbrush and canvas. And yet, that is the medium he selected to tell his story and, in turn, alter the point of view of everyone who views his pieces.
Raymond got in their adult years a skilled Midwest rancher and horseman who, by the time he was seventeen, had actually collected his own remarkable cattle herd and rapidly found out the ropes to becoming an effective cattleman. The Vietnam War remained in full speed and, looking for adventure, he got in the United States Coast Guard, making his method onto an elite search and rescue group stationed off the waters of Puerto Rico. The idea of this may stimulate daring enthusiasm in a boy, however there was a dark side: He and his group were responsible for collecting bodies after significant conflicts and airline crashes. This experience impacted him deeply for several years to come and ended up being the critical juncture of his development from kid to male to artist.
After the war, he and my mother moved back to the Midwest, at which time he adopted the isolationist way of life and evolved even more into a self-reliant, hardcore do-it-yourselfer: Raising honey bees, growing his own food, making his own alcohol and even developing paper products from basic materials. This is when the requirement to reveal himself through art started to smolder in his stubborn belly and quickly burst into a full-on inferno of creative enthusiasm.
He taught himself the lost wax process for producing bronze sculptures and, although my household was exceptionally bad, managed to scratch together the products to develop his own foundry. What followed was a very prolific duration of sculpture creation to which he applied his knowledge of animal husbandry and created splendid pieces that caught the essence of the western horseman and livestock rancher. He even developed a handful of life-size and brave size pieces which are currently shown around the nation.
As his creative advancement continued it emerged to experts that his work was exceptionally cathartic and, ever so gradually, the darkness in his soul receded. However the deep-rooted angst he had felt for years would not be completely stopped till he brought himself to the next level. One day he awakened and decided it was time to end up being an oil painter.
Years of frustration followed as he painfully learned the strategies of oil painting that would totally catch the essence of what he made every effort to communicate. But strategy is just part of what makes a great painter: You have to be ready to put everything on the line and expose your soul to the world. Until an artist wants to stand naked and susceptible before the world he/she will never get in touch with their viewers. This was the hardest challenge for Raymond to conquer. He was raised with a ""carry your own water"" mentality, where real men were strong and quiet and never ever exposed personal weak point.

There is absolutely nothing sadder than an artist with great strategy however who is reluctant to put themselves into their work: technically skilled pieces, yes. And yet, entirely soulless. It takes a terrific leap of faith to transcend our own worries and state to the world, ""This is the real me, warts and all."" You want your audience to stand and consider your work, make them wish to see it through your eyes as the genuine you sees it. If they leave with a brand-new point of view, seeing the world simply a little differently and therefore changed, you have achieved your objective.
Years of blood, sweat and tears have actually settled for Raymond. He has achieved what all fantastic artists should accomplish to bring their artwork to the next level: Expose your joys, your discomforts, your sadness and your flaws and the world will like you even more. Do not fear your own humanity for that is what connects you to the rest people."
