If you think about it…. the acronym KYS isn’t saying “kill yourself,” it’s saying Kill Your Self. Three words. Leto Ultiapolous-Central command of the self proclaimed Independent Zeon squadron. A flanagan institute newtype who served towards the end of the One-year war, only being deployed after the battle of Solomon. Leto was fascinated by Zeon Zum Deikun's writing, Although his understanding of it was swayed by his own biases. He sees the advance of humanity in space and newtypes as interlocked things. He sees the Zeon name as the only way for newtypes to reach any kind of recognition and prosperity, peace. From the barracks, his careful and charismatic speech enthralled few who he considered his closest companions. After A baoa qu, he flees with these like-minded rebels on side 6 where they maintain a stronghold on Derbent, a region of the colony. This occupation is meant to provocate the EFF into diplomatic dealings.
