random things i like about ron that were at least mentioned once in the books,

-ron hair smells good, at least hermione loves it

-ron makes tea when someone is upset

-his breathing when sleeping is calm and rhythmic (harry said he was able to sleep bc of it lol. i think in ootp but not sure)

-he called out a portrait (i think) saying he had freckles and not some other thing. he’s so cute i wanna cry

-HES SO TALL AND LANKY AND HAS BLUE EYES AND BRIGHT HAIR AND FAIR EYELASHES. I HAVE A CRUSH ON HIM (adult-ron, pls, don’t misunderstand me)

-ron’s pyjamas are always a tiny bit too short on him

-ron punched draco in the battle of hogwarts (that being draco’s last appearance until the epilogue)

-ron looking at hermione in hbp even if they were mad. and wanting to talk to her after christmas (and other few times) with no luck :(

-ron spying on hermione and asking people from other houses about her to find out what she was up to during 3rd year when they weren’t speaking to each other

-ron said that bill always understood him and i love that bc considering his relationship with his other siblings this warms my heart

-ron literally seeing the bright side of things and being always happy for his friends, encouraging them.

i weep anytime i think about how ron was the first person harry found that loved him (aside obviously his parents but he doesn’t remember. i’m strictly talking about what he remembers) and he found love for the first time in him. years back when i went to the hp london studios i was the only one crying when i saw tiny ron and harry at the train. they’re everything to me bye.

Being a multishipper who plays favorites is funny to me.

I can recognize that Ron/Harry would probably be the most likely to become canon and acknowledge that the symbolism around Neville/Harry would be interesting.

And yet I favor Cedric/Harry by a longshot and all the fanfiction I've ever written is JUST about them.

Err.... Read the books, mate. Analyse them. Especially the vocabulary that is being used.

Most of the things I say are just canon.

There are some terms I use could more or less be accurate but I believe I remember most of the details from the books.

Are you sure you're not confusing canon and fanfiction?

Though I would like to discuss this further on why you think my opinions on Harry are bullshit. Can you give me some examples? On what subject?

And, by chance, are you a Draco/drarry simp? Most of them don't remember canon!Harry and their opinion on him is fanon so that's why I'm asking.

So umm I think Harry and Draco's relationship is NOT EQUAL.

Draco was the more obsessed one and Harry couldn't care less about him except when he became an active threat to his home (Hogwarts) and family (friends).

Harry was clever (far from the idiot the fandom paints him as) and he was good at magic sure, but he wasn't a powerful wizard prodigy like Dumbledore with no brain as you lot think. Harry is powerful because he has love. Not because he can inexplicably do wandless magic. And he was good at school and solving the mysteries going around Hogwarts.

And no Draco wasn't written as intelligent. The comparison between Draco and Hermione in the second book is just to say that Draco, pureblood and heir of 2 ancient families, couldn't beat a Muggle born. If Hermione wasn't top of her class but was still better than Draco, Lucius would have still used her as a comparison because she's Harry Potter's friend!

However, Draco was resourceful and wasn't empty headed either as proven by his skill to repair the cabinet. He just wasn't the second genius behind Hermione.

Draco was supposed to be a bully living off his family's fortune and arrogant to think he can have what he wants by just wanting them. Until life humbled him. He ISN'T a poor baby boy whose fault could be excused because he's depressed and had a horrible father (he didn't) and big bad heroes bully him :(

Anyway their relationship was dysfunctional BUT complementarity in SOME aspects and I don't think the drrary fandom is ready for that conversation. Not anymore.

I got a tiny Harry Potter rant/confession that’s been building for a bit and that’s Harry and school.

Rather, Harry and School and how people (mainly on this site, I’ve seen) hate how he handled it whereas I loved it. It was perfect. It was relatable. And it was 100% Harry.

He would forever put quiddich over homework. He would forever put action over teaching.

JK Rowling straight up said Harry wasn’t an academic and that’s exactly how she wrote him. That’s exactly what I appreciated about him growing up alongside that boy. He handled school like I did: An individually intelligent student, but a student who had better things to do than school. A student who cared about passing more than acing for most classes. Schoolwise? Average.

You see those posts like “WTF HARRY ITS MAGIC SCHOOLWORK YOU SHOULD LOVE IT what IS WRONG WITH YOU” and “RON WAS SO LAZY ALWAYS MAKING HARRY PLAY GOBSTONES WHEN HE COULD HAVE BEEN DELVING INTO THE MAGIC BEHIND MAGIC” and “HERMIONE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MAKES SENSE–”

No. It was homework. And JK Rowling did, I found, an incredible job turning something as new and fascinating as magic into an everyday, pedantic chore. Which it is to people who grow up around magic, such as Ron. And Harry, who felt out of place his entire life, managed to feel back at home amidst all the wonder he still experienced.

Harry had no interest in going above and beyond with school. He loves magic and he loves his school but he found comfort and normalcy more appealing than anything else. ((I think science is fascinating: there are things I would love to know more of, how to do more of… still didn’t motivate me to write my essays or even sit my ass down to fill in a few blanks, nor did it stop me from putting in the minimal amount of work required regardless of my interest in the subject. I had decent grades and excelled what came naturally. Much as Harry did.))

As cool as turning a gerbil into a goblet is, breaking down the chemical/magical properties of every combination, memorizing all the laws and exceptions to rules, and every tiny thing that ticked off the Goblins… that builds. That’s tedious, especially for children in five or more different classes. Learning charms sounds fantastic, but things get frustrating after no results and once you’ve had your fill of practice you need to wind down with some games, or a nap, or a walk around the pitch. Or maybe you’d rather put that essay for after quiddich practice…

Harry not prioritizing his school work was natural and right and fucking fantastic, and though a lot of the overachievers who probably fell in love with the books couldn’t understand it, I could. Maybe JK was the same kinda student? Either way, that’s how she wrote Harry. He wasn’t lazy or stupid, it was just fucking homework to him. He had a lot of untapped potential, but he only tapped that potential when he needed to. Not all of us want to be masters of the universe. Some of us just want to be happy.

He was the boy who was trying to find home and normal in between neglect and isolation. As much as he loved school and magic, Harry wasn’t one to find comfort in it. Harry was more about necessity and learning to enjoy himself, which was one of the many reasons why Ron was so important.

So, for me,  Auror Harry > Professor Harry, and not just because it’s canon but because it’s right. It’s right for Harry. Harry would not have been happier as a professor, as much as some fans wish for it.

The DA was about action for him just as much as it was about helping his classmates. It was about getting back at Umbridge, about a personal middle finger, about moving forward despite the man hands trying to hold him back, not his love of passing on knowledge, even if he found some joy in seeing success by his making.

Yeah, he was a pretty damn good teacher for his peers. But just because you’re good at something doesn’t mean it will make you happy.

Lesson plans, schedules, teenagers… it would be come a chore for him. It would start to feel stagnant. He would feel trapped. The same material again and again, as only his students changed, not him…  

Harry needs to move. He needs to act. He needs to have control over his own destiny. He doesn’t want to be in a cupboard, metaphorical or otherwise. He spent his childhood on an adrenaline high and that sort of shit you can’t cut off cold turkey. He needs to stay honed, he needs to stay aware, he needs his hands, somehow, in the government to keep what happened to his family and friends in the past from ever happening to them again, so long as he’s alive, and he would never be happy as a professor. The more I think about it the more sure I become.

You can argue all you want about the bureaucracy and how anti-Harry it is and sure, it’s probably the worst part of his job, but Harry “lesson plans” Potter who might get a fancy Wizengoamot seat for some government swing? Hell no. Don’t get me wrong, I too found the domestic!Harry that was thrown to us in the epilogue as off. But Harry joining the Aurors is something that felt right for him, even if he were to go off course from it later on.

Super unpopular opinion in these parts, I know.

s2g straight men will say and do the gayest stuff to their straight friends as jokes but like... let's unpack this

this being DRARRY... they'll constantly make comments like "you can hold my hand if you're scared" and "let me sleep with you / we can share the same bed". they'll sit in the same hot tub 100% naked and shit talk. they'll send each other shirtless sweaty post-workout photos because they're in a weird "i can bench more than you", "ok bet?" competitive phase. they'll grab each other's belt loops and pull them in close to whisper in their ear, affectionately (jokingly, obnoxiously) kiss their forehead much to the disgust of the other. ball taps, ass grabs, etc etc

it's all in the name of friendly brotherhood camaraderie... platonic friends with no boundaries. but why oh why, does drarry feel jealous when OTHER ppl do that with their bro? and ngl why does bro look extra good-looking today? instead of just a dap up, what if i pull bro in and kiss them on the mouth and we make out like crazy? wait huh? what if i touched his dick or our dicks touched? wait wait wait..!!!
