As cool as it would be to have an Uma Musume USA spinoff that covers the Kentucky Derby and other famous American horse races, it's never gonna happen because the creators of Uma Musume have to get permission from the owners of the irl horses to have them appear as Umas in the game. This is a difficult, but feasible task in Japan because things like Idol culture, gacha games, and anime gijinka, if not necessarily held in high regard, are at least established parts of subcultures that are known to be profitable. I cannot imagine the difficulty of convincing, say, a Saudi oil baron or some multimillionaire Kentuckian who wears seersucker suits and talks like Foghorn Leghorn that letting a mobile game company turn their beloved stallions into waifus is somehow a reasonable decision.

I knowwww the Dandadan Hunting Soul scene has been talked to death but genuinely it’s everything I love about anime encapsulated into one sequence.

It was like four pages in the manga, a silly gag like ‘oh wouldn’t it be neat if they did an exorcism via a power metal band?’ But in the anime?

First of all they wrote an entire fucking song, like four minutes long, with lyrics and guitar and all of it, got the fucking GUITARIST FROM MEGADETH and the SINGER FROM DRAGONFORCE (for the English version) to fucking sing it??? And then (made a fucking Back to the Future reference) and put on a goddamn laser light power metal rock concert that lasted like. A fifth of the entire episode’s run time.

They literally didn’t need to do any of that!!! It was a four page gag sequence! But they said no man. We need an entire power metal concert!!!

THATS what I love about animation man. The culmination of so many people’s hard work, time, effort and creativity, all put together for no other reason than because it would fuck incredibly hard. That FUCKS.
