The only feat that Zoraal Ja failed was the only one that actually mattered to him. Which was also the one that mattered least to his father.
He's a self fulfilling tragedy.
He's so obsessed with a specific goal (being like his father and worthy of his father's legacy) that he can't even see what that goal actually is and he destroys the very thing he admires and strives for.
