Someone should publish a pronunciation guide for bookish children with words like boatswain, victuals, epitome and so forth. It could probably just be a slim pamphlet, but it would save a lot of nerds a lot of embarrassment down the line.
#🤝 misled#i learned that boatswain and bosun are the same just earlier this year and it pissed me off#recently learned about the american pronunciation of solder (i am american) and that was upsetting lol#and what… what do you mean about victuals 😨

i love these two characters. i need to trap them in a collapsed building so they can talk about their feelings as one of them slowly bleeds out.

#a few!#none at a particularly impressive level but I can definitely play them!#I took piano and then violin lessons when I was a kid and I played trombone in middle school band and I was pretty good!#but y’know. the time. the noise. the skill atrophy

I will say as someone who loves redemption arcs and hates the mindset that “if a person is an abuser or a fascist or a Really Bad Guy and they are forgiven by people because they’ve taken great pains to grow and change then omg this sets such a bad precedent and will make people go back to their abusers or forgive fascism” the key difference between “I don’t believe any character is irredeemable simply by virtue of having done something bad if they’re willing to grow and change and accept accountability ” and “I don’t think this specific character is redeemable in the context of canon and therefore you shouldn’t expect it to be a thing that happens” is the “willingness to grow and change and accept accountability” part.

october though… the start of october’s gonna be interesting because assuming unend season 2 is also 18 episodes, i get the finale october 1, which i expect to be fantastic, potentially brain re-wiring, as season 1’s finale was. critical role campaign 4 starts october 2, which i am also very excited about! but like, how stuck on unend will my brain be? will my love of unend and the big feelings elicited by the finale interfere with my ability to dive into c4?
really excited for september during which I will enter a state that blurs the lines between “deep and unabated indulgence in my hobbies” and “so hyperfixated I’m barely a person”
i’m gonna get weekly unend episodes, which will undoubtedly be bangers, and in between them and posting about them, I’ll be playing silksong. I expect this to be my entire life outside of work. it’s gonna be awesome.
#i’m trying not to make a self-fulfilling prophecy so i am choosing to be optimistic#but october has historically been a rough month on the mental health (though significantly less so in recent years)#so i am cautiously prepping for the possibility that coming out of—essentially—an adhd (audhd??) bender into the shorter days of fall#might be a little difficult. might require some proactive care#i think i trust myself to handle it pretty well but i’m not discounting the possibility that it may end up harder than anticipated#eve talks

fuck it, i'm curious. reblog and tag with the first fictional death to ever rewrite your brain chemistry and/or make you cry like a baby. mine was ares from the underland chronicles (who, for context, was a giant bat.) to this day i will weep if i think too hard about it. okay, go.
#freakin… megaman from the nt warrior anime#i was like 6 or 7 and I did not know how to process that#i refused to say the word delete or even look at it when i played on the computer. for like a month? at least?#it was the start of summer and my mom had bought us little squirt guns to play with like that same day#so for the longest time the smell of cheap plastic smelled like megaman dying#i didn’t cry (bc i basically didn’t know how to cry over fiction or see that as acceptable until my mid-teens)#but hoo boy it did a number on me

#also something to tide me over between unend episodes would be nice bc the downsides of a hyperfixation are hitting a little bit this week#oh wait *checks calendar* oh yeah no that makes sense#eve talks

nice ruthless and all-consuming ambitions you've got there bucko sure would be a shame if you were in a narrative where you can be transformed by the dedicated acts of someone who loves you turning all your broken tools back in on themselves and offering you the chance of redemption despite yourself

Mutual pining is great, but you know what's even better? Mutual pining where they're both fully aware the feelings are requited, they just can't do anything about it for other reasons. Or maybe they technically could but they've had to choose not to, because of The Circumstances.
