History was beginning to repeat itself, and no one is stopping until there’s blood. Once ravished by a plague brought by the hubris and greed of their raiders, the trading town of Hedeby perished in the shadow of their own legacy. Their new King promises to restore Hedeby to its glory days. He builds walls. He raids. But do his people trust in him? The gods are keeping a watchful eye on the people as the years has passed and even they no longer have full control…

THE SUMMER SOLSTICE 

The people of Hedeby had survived another grisly winter, but dealing with nasty snow storms and cold temperatures is something the Vikings all know too well and always looks forward to seeing spring flowers finally blossoming through the beautiful blanket of white snow. While finally laying to rest of all those who unfortunately perished during the Saxon raiding in the early spring, the people of Hedeby can now look forward to the warmer period of the year and celebrate all they’ve gone through and liberate those of the fallen. Gather together for a long celebration of the summer solstice, taking the time to decorate homes and the marketplace with flowers of all sorts of beautiful colours, grand feast every night for two weeks hosted in the longhouse of King Ragnar, large bonfires telling war tales and stories, dancing, and unlimited amounts of the finest mead that Hedeby has to offer! 

Little do they know that a mythical appearance would finally appear for the first time in hundreds of years! Leaving them both fearful and surprised. Some were lured into, consumed by the mythical being and its beauty, while others ran into the forest to escape only to be captured by the others. This went on for days, and nights only. Sometimes they appeared and tormented the celebrations, other nights they stayed within the dark of the forest, watching the festival from afar. For certain, the people of Hedeby now know that the small tales spoken from childhood are in fact… Real.

PLEASE NOTE:

Event begins June 1st-June 15th. 

This event will take place (in game time) for two whole weeks.

Please finish all previous threads before starting new threads regarding to the event in order to keep everything on the dash during this time regarding only to the summer solstice event. 

Historically the day was associated with symbolism, magic and superstitions.

Traditionally, Midsummer was a pagan celebration of fertility and of light defeating darkness.

Absolutely, not! We're just a Viking setting period in Denmark with myth and supernatural influences.
