My name is Wissam, a mother who went through an unforgettable experience... a pregnancy mixed with fear and anxiety. During the months of my pregnancy, I suffered countless pains, not only from fatigue, but also from my constant worry for my baby growing inside me without adequate nutrition. 😢💔
In the final days of my pregnancy, doctors told me that my fetus's life was in danger because she hadn't been getting enough food for a week, and that she had to be delivered immediately. I wasn't prepared, neither psychologically nor financially. I hadn't prepared anything for my baby: no clothes, no diapers, no milk, not even a crib to hold her in. 💔😭
My baby, Ayla, was born into this world, small and fragile, yet strong-hearted. She didn't cry much, as if she knew she was born into a difficult world, yet she chose life. I held her in my arms, my tears streaming, torn apart internally because I didn't have the most basic rights towards her. 😢😢
I lost my twins before, and my heart still aches for their loss. Today, all I wish for is that Ayla survives, that she finds someone to hold her with us, that she lives safely, and that she finds someone to support her in her first hours. 💔💔
I call on those with compassionate hearts to help us provide Ayla with the basic necessities she needs: milk, diapers, clothes, and a simple bed. Any contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in this child's life. Because of the intense heat, my daughter suffers from pimples on her body and needs treatment, and I have not been able to buy anything due to lack of money. She also needs an x-ray for Ayla, but there is no money to do the imaging for her. This is my daughter's fault, who was born in the Gaza Strip and the war. I live in a tent and have not been able to sit in it because of the intense heat. I want a good person to take care of my daughter's life with milk and diapers. I have not asked for anything for myself. I ask for my daughter, who has been wronged by the children in the Gaza Strip, and every day a large number of children die. I want some decent life for my daughter, and thank you 💔😭
Be a support for my little Ayla, and may her beginning in life be full of mercy, not deficiency and deprivation. I hope you can help me with any amount, even if it is small. 😭💔

Hi friends,
Not as much to report this devlog! I've mostly been focused on writing and planning for RiO. The dates/free time you'll have in episode 2 have all been planned, and the first day has been fully written.
I'm also working on a map system to make choosing where and with whom you spend said free time a little more interactive! I've been wanting to incorporate a map in-game, and this feels like a good opportunity for it.
i wanna squish those cheekiesss
Also wanted to give another reminder that the queer bundle is still running! Please consider buying the bundle to support queer indie creators ❤️ your support means we can continue to put out new cool stuff for you to play.
Finally, recently I've seen an uptick in spam comments on my game pages recently with links to god knows what. I do my best to ban/delete them, but it's worth a reminder to be careful. Don't click links from accounts you don't know!
much love,
qk

i was wondering if you had any tips for writing a story that involved a language barrier. would i write mostly action? would it be less interesting without dialogue? thank you!!
Writing Notes: Language Barrier
Language Barriers. If you work in an industry that is heavy in jargon or technical language, care should be taken to avoid these words when speaking with someone from outside the industry. Without being patronizing, imagine explaining a situation in your industry to a child. How would you convey these concepts without relying on jargon? A clear, direct narrative is preferable to an incomprehensible slew of specialty terms.
EXAMPLES of language barriers that prevent individuals from effective communication include:
Dialects - While two people may technically speak the same language, dialectal differences can make communication between them difficult. Examples of dialectical language barriers exist worldwide. Chinese, for example, has a variety of dialects that are commonly spoken, including Cantonese and Mandarin.
Language Disabilities - Language disabilities are physical impediments to language. Physical language disabilities that cause language barriers include stuttering, dysphonia or an articulation disorder and hearing loss.
To overcome language barriers, here are a few things you can do:
Translate all relevant documents into the person's primary language.
Use an interpreter whenever you give instructions or provide feedback.
Provide language classes.
Use both telling and showing methods.
Use visual methods of communication more than audio. Show more than tell. Explain with pictures as much as possible.
Use repetition. As with any new concept, most people don't learn something the first time they hear it.
Never raise your voice or over-enunciate your words. Talk slower, not louder. Speak clearly, not forcefully. People of a different language and culture can hear fine.
Use simpler words with fewer syllables. Be aware of the complexities of your words. Use more common words that convey your message in simpler terms. Don't talk down; just use a less complex vocabulary.
Learn the basics of their language. If you want to communicate effectively and build rapport, consider learning a few words and phrases in their language.
Have them demonstrate their understanding. Don't assume they immediately understand; check for understanding.
You can also read anecdotes of people's experience with language barriers to help guide your writing. Here's an example.
Sources: 1 2 ⚜ More: Notes & References ⚜ Writing Resources PDFs
Choose which of these notes apply to the specific scene you are writing. Are the characters actually trying to communicate despite the barrier? Consider the purpose of your scene. They could use nonverbal cues instead of speaking. When we see people who don't speak the same language interact, sometimes they still continue to speak their own language whilst miming or gesturing to try to communicate what they mean even though they know the other person can't understand what they're saying. You can definitely still make it interesting. Will you make the scene more humorous? Will the scene end in a misunderstanding, an argument, or will they eventually communicate successfully? Perhaps something in their culture overlaps that helps them understand each other. Or will there be another character (or characters) who will step in and help them? Hope this helps with your writing!

The thing with Harry Potter is that if Daniel Radcliffe can walk away from it then so can you. No one else on the planet has their identity more tied to that series than him and he walked away. So to see the actors for the new show saying JKR isn't doing anything wrong, to see the actors involved in the new audible super production supporting her, when she has explicitly, loudly, and proudly said she's gonna use that money to fund taking away rights from trans people is ridiculous. No sense of morals if people pay you enough and this is insane.

A little advice from someone studying extremist groups: if you’re in a social media environment where the daily ubiquitous message is that you have no hope of any kind of future and you can’t possibly achieve anything without a violent overthrow of society, you’re being radicalized, and not in the good way.

Hi friends,
I hope you're all enjoying summer!
If you're looking for something fun to do when it's too hot to go outside, I have great news: this year's Queer Bundle on itch is finally live!
I can't recommend the bundle highly enough. For 60 bucks you get an absolute plethora of queer games made by queer people, with lots of really awesome titles in there. There's also a pay what you can option for folks who can't afford the full 60. Please check it out! Both Tavern at Night games and TSL are on there, too. ❤️🌈🏳️🌈
Other less fun news: I'm sure that many of you have already seen this, but itch deindexed all NSFW content on their website due to payment processors putting restrictions on them. Free NSFW projects have now been restored, but the situation is still pretty dire.
I strongly urge you to sign petitions, send emails, or call if you're able. You can find out how to do so on this landing page. It has resources, information, and direct links to petitions. It only takes a minute to sign one.
Alright! Finally, onto the log:
I'm back to work on RiO's episode 2 (and demo update). I think I have a pretty good idea of the outline of ep2, and have already started writing. Actually fleshing out the details is taking some time because we're getting into some pretty heavy plot and worldbuild stuff, but I'm making sure to pad it with relaxation moments with the LIs 💞
I've also sketched out the three villains' sprites, and have made progress on Mr. Erusk:
old man enjoyers rise UP✊
Next up: I'm going to try to concentrate on the backgrounds that still need finishing for the demo, since those have been the biggest thorn in my side. till next log!
much love,
qk

Hi everyone. Today, July 24th 2025, is the 24th birthday of my friend Mohammed Ayesh, a Palestinian born and raised in the Al-Shaati refugee camp of Ghazzah. Just like all Palestinians, and especially those from Ghazzah, his life has been marked by the blockade, war, invasions, siege, foreign military checkpoints, and so much more. But through the last two years he has suffered the most accelerated process of this long-time genocide that we Palestinians have seen, with its inception in the 1880's.
And during the last two years, Mohammed Ayesh has become a hero to the people of Ghazzah who needed urgent help from the outside world to manage surviving the most unprecedented concentration of violence on a civilian population.
He has time and time again made his way to people through danger and destruction to verify the fundraisers of people in need of help so people like you can feel more secure about their money going to those who need it most. In doing so he left his own campaign neglected. He continues to work through initiatives like Ihyaa (sister initiative of Isnad) to help University students in Ghazzah achieve their goals in an adequate environment, something that is lacking in Ghazzah right now.
If you want to wish him a happy birthday with me, please consider sending him what you think you can part with today. Thank you all for your continued support for the people of Ghazzah.

Gaza is experiencing a famine literally a few kilometres away from israel's stocked supermarkets. Israel doesn't let food in. I've seen so many reports of people being shot at for daring to access aid.
Alaa is a Palestinian woman trying to provide for her two very young children. Their tent was bombed recently and the family has lost what little possessions they had. Donate to her vetted fundraiser here, so she may feed herself and her family.
