Foolishly, I thought I could have this damn thing done several months ago. I think it took 3 total months?? Just needs a coat of resin (currently packed) and it'll be complete.
Speaking of packing shit up, I'm moving next week because my apartment decided it was appropriate to raise my rent by $600/mo. and I've last minute had to switch movers because the cheap ones decided to be sketchy as fuck and ghost me, so now my crippled ass is having to spend $400 so someone can move my stuff. I have a mostly complete doe skeleton that's still for sale. Details should be on one of my most recent posts. Or, like, I'll take offers for this boar jaw, too, or any other stuff I've posted recently.

Looks like only the doe is unclaimed, if anyone's interested in her :)
Sup, sluts? I'm having to move because my apartment decided fuck poor people, we're no longer low income AND we're raising rent by like $600. But I don't want to move all my shit, so I'm trying to sell some stuff. I'm headed to Gay DnD in a bit, so I don't have time for a ton of photos, but here's some stuff I grabbed off the shelf that I'm fine with selling:
Tumblr media
Wax stained boar (skull only): $50 + ship
Tumblr media
Wax stained otter (skull and jaw): $45 + ship
Tumblr media
Box of Doe (mostly complete??): $150 + ship
Tumblr media
Box of Yote (mostly complete): $130 + ship
If interested, message me or comment or whatever. I can provide more images and count up what bones are in the boxes when I have the time (possibly later tonight).

So so so upset that I won't have this finished by Pride. Still probably another 6-10 hours on this one, and then like 40 hours on the other half.

Back at it!
I got accepted into a local art show (that isn't a scam this time lol) for my beadwork, and I had an idea earlier that I think might be good for that show.
This is one pig jaw, but I separated it for ease of beading. It's easy enough to put it back together later. I'm going to alter the design a little from what I've scribbled on here. It's mostly guiding lines so I don't lose my place too much. But the idea is a kind of cascading floral type look, in pinks and greens, primarily. The exact color scheme will come to me once I start working on that part. I kinda just give myself a vague outline and go with whatever pops in my head as I move along. Maybe not the best way to go about art stuff, but it's done ok for me thus far.

Welp. Not sure where to go from here. Gotta go hiking tomorrow about it. I'll have it figured out after that.

Anyone on here in Knoxville? I'll be selling my wares at SoKno Pride this year! All proceeds go towards getting my work vehicle's transmission fixed so I'm not fired 🙃

Walgreens has business cards 60% off right now, so I went crazy. I think I ended up getting 350 of them for like $26 total. So now I don't have to worry about people at Pride taking all my cards and having to beg people not to take the final one. I don't think I'll ever have to buy business cards again, tbh. The most I've ever ordered at once was 100, and that would last me months of frequent markets.

Getting places. Doing the full bead work on this one and only blocking in the other half of the jaw, so I can make sure it's even but also work "quickly" enough that I don't forget what I'm doing. Starting to wish I would have prepped the bone better before starting. It's a little sun damaged, so I'm having to use so much more glue than on healthy bone. Oh well. I'll just have to resin the tits out of it once I'm done.

So this snail has figured out how to crawl along the water line like it's glass. Its name is Snesus (snail Jesus) because this is the marine animal version of walking on water. Something something surface tension; it's been over a decade since I took a physics class. This is done solely for the purpose of stealing my betta's food. Which I guess makes this guy the alpha since the fish is beta. You can see her looking at the snail, probably as uncomfortable about it doing this as I am. This snail also cannibalized another one of the snails in the tank, so maybe its name should be Snannibal? Overall, I am scared of this snail and hope that it doesn't try breaking free of the tank. The other snail that it didn't eat is normal and does normal small things like Investigating Gravel for Poop, and Hiding.

Already fuck with this so much more. If you can decipher what all the scribbling is, congrats. You have ADHD.

Unfortunately, I hate it. Time to scrape all this off and soak it in some glue dissolver so I'm not out like $5 in beads

Stopped at a thrift store on my way home from getting a piercing earlier and found a fish tank with a filter (new in box) and an unopened bag of gravel for like $12. So, naturally, I bought it, because I've been thinking of getting snails again.
And then I went to the pet store and found the world's smallest beta fish (top left of the tank) and had to buy her because I love nothing more than unique (often stupid looking) animals. I also got 3 snails, but two of them have remained completely still for over 2 hours now, so I'm hoping they didn't sell me dead snails.
Yes, I decorated the tank with bones and crystals. Do you know who I am? Everything is clean, and it should make for fun enrichment/hiding spots for the new tank guys.
Tumblr media
It's also proving to be good enrichment for my dumbass cat, and she's more than welcome to investigate the fish so long as she doesn't try to scoot a 4 gallon tank.

Came across this badass turtle in the middle of nowhere today. Poor thing's been through something traumatic, based on their shell. The cleft is pretty well healed, so I'm assuming it's something that happened when this was a tinier turt, but the cracking on the shell looks like it wouldn't have been comfy. Didn't get great photos because I was parked in the center of a single lane mountain road with limited visibility either way and wanted to gtfo so me and the turtle didn't end up as roadkill, but one of my favorite parts of my job is how frequently I encounter turtles crossing the road once it's warm out. I stop to move any street turtle I find, and it's gonna get me hit one of these days.

Accidentally did a 9.2 mile hike today. Well, kinda accidental. I mostly mean I'm bad at basic math. I wanted to see a feature that was "only" 1.2 miles further than the 3.1 or something I'd done already, and ended up fucking myself over.
But it was really foggy and that made the woods seem almost magical. Definitely has a different vibe once the sun decided to come out and burnt away all the clouds.
Parked at Newfound Gap, hiked to Charlie's Bunion. I really wanted to go to another feature called The Sawteeth, but it was looking like that would be almost 2 miles and, as much as I love being outside, I'm not in the kind of shape where I can do a 13 mile or whatever hike and be able to work for the next few days. Glad I didn't, too, because I keep forgetting to put my good insoles in and it really killed my feet today. Got me some froyo in Pigeon Forge, now I'm home reevaluating the kind of life decisions I make.
