Here where world is quiet
And summer song sings hollow
Where the dust has long since settled
And cobwebs darken the window
Here where the January night is long
And the wind through the window cold,
The aching loneliness lingers,
Tired fingers do endlessly scroll
Here where passions were long extinguished,
The coals black and burnt to the ground
The warmth of a forgotten kindness
There are no embers to be found
Here where the air is still and stagnent
No song leaves no lips
No merry tune to lighten the load
In silence here I sit
Here the thoughts echo softly,
And they sharpen to regret,
Past lives are at once remembered
And the wonder of what comes next
To stoke the fires that dwindle,
To forge a brighter flame,
To feel the warmth of joy
And start living once again
