lucy reimann — clothing study .

lucy comes from a poor family , consisting of her and her mother after the passing of her father . they live in the poor end of town , so because of this lucy doesn’t have the luxury of current fashion trends .
her wardrobe is primarily pieces put together from the local charity thrift shop — and the only reason she’s able to remotely look good is because her mother taught her how to frankenstein and layer articles together . giving lucy a fairly unique sense of style amongst those in derry . ripped stockings ? layer them over top another pair — good for another handful of wears .
ties ? what a great belt , she wears many of her dad’s old ties ( although he never wore them himself . gifts from her grandparents , promises to look good for future employment . )
most everything lucy owns has small tears or holes that she either stitches , patches , or worn to look intentional .
would she love to wear a leather jacket ? yes , can she afford it ? no . but she makes do and slays every time .

‘ not used to it ? ‘ lucy asks , assuming she’d more or less meant not bused to girls who looked like her approaching . otherwise she couldn’t imagine why .
‘ well , sorry i didn’t mean to weird you out . just thought you wouldn’t want junk in your hair — ‘
lucy had been walking through the halls of derry high , her guitar case slung over her frame . she does a double take before stopping her tracks .
' yo ... you've got something in your hair . ' she reaches over the complete stranger , pulling a leaf from out of locks of their hair . ' better . '

lucy's brow quirked in response — she was no stranger to the concept of being intimidating to the students of derry high ; but damn . she wasn't about to jump the poor girl .
' yeah , don't mention it . ' lucy replies , hoisting the gig bag further up her shoulder . ' — you okay ..? '

nervously joshua scratches at his chin . ' you make it sound embarrassing . ' he'd mumble — joshua follows her the entire way up ; each step in tune with his increasingly nervous heartbeat .
' back row huh ... ' he'd eye a couple of free seats , swallowing the lump in his throat before plopping himself down . popcorn tumbled from the oversized to the floor where it'd be someone else's problem later .
dark eyes flick towards maggie , the poor guy unaware of what he was to do . if she had a keen eye , maggie might notice him anxiously drumming his fingers on the arm rest of his seat .
typically when it came to getting ready for dates , people would tend to assume the girl would be the one spending hours getting ready ; joshua however would be carrying said mantle tonight .
although he'd looked perfectly unready — eyeliner smeared in his waterlines ( but still applied better than half the girls at school ) and a denim jacket that was carefully crafted with more patches than denim .
he'd arrived about twenty minutes early , partially because he wanted to make sure he could buy her ticket for her . and partially because he had a bad dream about being late and having maggie splash her drink in his face the night before .
either way , he was there . heaping bag of popcorn tucked in his arm and two shiny tickets in the other .

' well yeah , it's poser shit if you buy it like this . ' joshua chuckles , following behind the butterfly whilst admiring his own handwork . he'd been proud , to say the least . ' and i got all the pin pricks to prove it . '
he watches as she invites herself into the auditorium , following behind as they find their seats . it was something he'd been dreading personally , so joshua had been more than willing to allow her to take the reins and choose where they'd be sitting . as he'd discover , he'd been a chronic over thinker when it came to women .
' you a front row kinda girl or ... ? '

had joshua been on enough dates , he probably wouldn't have been nervously biting at his nail beds . although he'd been trying to act nonchalant about the whole thing . his eyes occasionally darted at the old clock behind the ticket booth , one glance turning to two ; two becoming three .
a heavy exhale leaves his chest and he'd felt several pounds lighter when maggie eventually showed up . and it was only then did he realize she'd only been about ten minutes late ( it felt like an eternity . )
a smile upturned his lips , eyes flicking her up and down . of course she looked great — he couldn't even claim to be surprised .
' oh , you're late ? didn't notice . ' he laughs it off , pushing himself off the wall before escorting her past the ticket booth . in the depths of his heart however ; he loved those damn movie trailers . objectively , his favourite part .
' you look really good . '

joshua felt something bubble up in his throat , a weird sense of regret as he watched maggie turn on her heel — on one hand , glad he was able to remind her . the other reluctant to watch her leave .
his lips purse in a flat line , hands stuffed into his pockets . joshua hadn't even mustered up the courage to say anything until maggie spun around once more . surprise evident on his features .
' blade ? ' he questions , the light going off in his head . ' yeah ..! yeah ! i'll see you there , my treat ? '
pirinola, a nickname she coined after getting drunk at a jaripeo and dancing so hard, she sent multiple dance partners out of commission. but there was no need to embarrass herself with the whole story. “it’s a spinning top. we use it in drinking games.”
now magdalena was no stranger to flirtatious attempts, usually spouted by some guy trying to hook up. but joshua hadn’t sparked her as the type. she was surprised he was even giving her the time of day; naturally, she assumed he would prefer someone more his wavelength.
“oh, yeah?” the corners of her mouth twitch upward. “i wouldn’t mind having some company,” she suggests.

joshua laughs , he couldn't help it . ' spinning top ? sounds like one hell of a party . ' much different than the games of beer pong and chug battles he'd been used to .
' no ? thought you had to be gone by 4:30 . doesn't give us much time , huh ? ' he cocks his head to the side , joshua had been surprised that he hadn't completely fumbled so far ; like he often did when he was around a pretty girl .

joshua , at least the new joshua was more suited for a mosh pit . that's what he told himself anyways . ' well yeah , you kind of have to . when i first started i lost my voice for like a week . '
he looks her over , a brow raised . bilingual he was not , but his grin widened all the same . ' yeah ? and what does that mean ? ' joshua would have loved to have a sick nickname ... alas he'd only just graduated from being little bitch , curtesy of henry bowers . ' just joshua , but you can call me anytime . '
it was an attempt at a flirt , tacky really , but that was sort of his whole existence at this point .
“at this rate i am the parent.” maggie moves up on her tippy toes, her hand guiding his wrist down to let her use the flame. it is only after that she’s taken a much needed inhale that she pulls away.
“as long as it gets the job done,” she agrees, exhaling away from him. “so what music does your band play? lemme guess.” she gives him a once over. “punk rock?”
