all goofing aside I genuinely don't understand the urge to reimagine Taylor Allison Swift as a secretly queer icon when the pop music scene(TM) is like. literally overflowing with women who actually like women. Gaga and Kesha and Miley and Halsey are right there. Rina Sawayama and Hayley Kiyoko and Rebecca Black and Kehlani and Victoria MonƩt and Miya Folick if you're willing to get slightly less top 100. Janelle and Demi for them nonbinary takes on liking girls. like what are we doing here. like I'm not even saying you can't enjoy Taylor but why would you hang all your little gay hopes on her.

Anyone else have embarrassing/inappropriate hyperfixations or special interests?
Like, ok, this one is embarrassing bc I feel really bad that it was something I read about so much, but maybe Iām making too big a deal about it.
My special interests include history.
This means, for example, mummification and funeral rituals around the world. Okay, okay, a little weird but mummies are interesting, both intentional and unintentional ones offer glimpses into wider parts of history. The way they lived, the circumstances around them at the time, yk?
But that also meant, for me, that I became really interested in reading about the holocaust. Specifically Anne Frank, but the books I read were not all just about her diaries. Most included things about the rise to power and the actions done against Jewish people leading up to everything else.
I donāt really remember how I got so interested in it? Itās probably similar to how I became interested in mummies; that is, I found one book on the topic and went, āitās time to consume every book that discusses this.ā
Thank GOD that this was before I was on the internet, therefore I never ran into any deniers or anything. It was so bizarre to me to encounter someone like that for the first time because⦠Did you read anything about the holocaust? In what world could you say that everything was fake when there is image and video of it?
I feel embarrassed that itās one of the topics I read so much about because that typically is the signifier of someone who is, you know, not on the right side of the discussion. At least in my opinion, itās a little weird to see someone who reads and writes and talks all about the holocaust just⦠because?
Iād like to think that my interest in it was less interest in the party and more on it being the only avenue I had to learn about Jewish things in any capacity? But Iām not sure thatās a reasonable conclusion, all I am sure about is that today, I have a heavy interest in learning about Judaism.
Now, itās the only part of my special interest that Iām ashamed about. Iām not ashamed about being interested in mummies; there certainly is discussion to be had about how we obtain information on them, and I really hate that thereās a museum near me that has taken a mummy from their tomb and placed them in a display. But overall, because one is more based on culture, faith and life, while the other is based on something so dark and evil, I find it really hard to admit that I ever had interest in the latter.

the first time EVER scientists managed to spot a pair of deep sea octopi mating it turned out to be 1. two males and 2. two males of different species 3. the much smaller octopus was clearly topping. neither of the octopi showed any sign of distress, so they clearly were into it, and octopi are too smart not to know what they were doing. source

Baymax in the new Baymax! show buying pads for a girl who got her first period and getting help from people, including a trans man.
Some people are really mad about this, when he is literally a health care robot interested in people's physical and emotional needs.

Explaining to straight adults that much of queer history happened within their lifetime and they were unaware of all the extremely important events and how many laws there were to prevent us from thriving because they werent part of queer circles themselves is like...

i think the hip new trans thing to do should be choosing as inconvenient a name as possible. like, you have a sibling of the same gender? choose their name. choose ur parentās name. choose ur petās name. choose ur best friendās name. make ur name a common noun (that isnāt already a name like lane is). call urself āchair.ā open the dictionary to a random page and point, now Thatās ur name. have a different name for each day of the week

itās almost Pride Month which is the season for my favorite kind of discourse: nerds on the internet playing Pride Police with regard to how much skin the homosexuals are allowed to show, a non-issue that nobody at the actual events cares about, but we for some reason decide to discuss every year

I circled the unblock button in the second pic but I didnāt crop it right so you canāt see it, I didnāt think reporting would do anything either way, sorry if it seemed that way lmao
I still think ignoring them isnāt too hard unless you read every ad that pops up on your dash; as in it definitely isnāt worth the reaction the person I replied to had yk?

ā¢joking! just in case it isnāt clear. But this dude keeps saying it so confidently and I am convinced he got rejected by a trans man after probably making a comment ab how hot it was that they had man š± and now heās dead set on making trans men and boys feel like shit for being gay. Newsflash, ppl like him are why plenty of gay trans men are T4T.ā¢
