I’m genuinely worrying about people whose main source of social development comes like 100% from these incredibly insular and entirely unregulated internet spaces. Like this isn’t even a “technology is bad and kids these days don’t learn how to talk to one another” post, it’s a “basic conflict resolution skills and the practical realities of interacting with human beings are the sort of things you probably shouldn’t learn in an unstructured environment, populated largely by antisocial weirdos, and when you do develop your interpersonal skills entirely in that environment, you’re going to have a fast and rude awakening when you finally do have to apply those skills outside the tiny toxic community you cultivated them in and find that they don’t transfer well to classroom discussions or dates or job interviews or having a roommate”
#rent lowering gunshots#last shot I swear#but still#this community should NOT be your only outlet for socialization and support it will fuck you up beyond belief#especially if you're under 20#and especially if you struggle with anxiety OCD or paranoia

i've had so many conversations with people in fandom/creators' circles who are genuinely afraid to make the stories or art they want because they fear (often with good reason!) that their friends might kick them out of their circles, or worse, launch a public harassment campaign against them.
as someone recovering from this fear-based mindset, i want to affirm:
- friends who use implicit or explicit threats to maintain social control are not your friends
- communities that monitor your social media and ao3 to surveil you for perceived transgressive content are not safe communities
- the vast majority of people are NOT going to hate you if you make the art you want
- if you find yourself in a friend group that makes you feel afraid to speak your mind, it's in your interest to disentangle yourself from that group as quickly as possible
- real, honest disagreements between friends can be solved respectfully without the use of public shaming
- if you're feeling afraid in a community, it's likely that others are feeling afraid too. support your friends who may be struggling to leave an abusive fan or creative community, and let them know you're a safe person to voice doubts and disagreement to.
- if you're feeling like you'll never find a safer community of people, i promise there are others who feel that way too. it may take some time, but you'll find people who treat you and your ideas with respect. a good place to start is the people who make the type of art that you admire but that you're too afraid to make yourself.
ok that's all, take care of each other and be nice 💜

Hello, I apologize for abruptly going dark. My break was unannounced but ultimately necessary.
I've made the decision to place this blog on indefinite hiatus for the foreseeable future. I love self shipping, but after placing some much needed distance between myself and this blog, I've realized that the self ship community at large is no longer fun or healthy for me. Watching several awesome people get harassed into deletion/inactivity over nothing has not made me feel the best about being here, and my personal last straw was seeing an adult try to smear an actual teenager a while back. So yeah, I don't know what else to say, other than I'm tapping out for my own peace of mind.
I will be refollowing a few of you from my main blog in the coming days. If you see a Tieria plushie and a 00-themed URL in your notifications, that's my blog and you are more than welcome to follow it! I have a separate sideblog where I post Gunpla and art (self ship and otherwise), so you can check that out as well.
To my followers: Thank you so much for your support. It got me through some very difficult times, and it's part of the reason as to why I wish things here were better.

got told at lunch "you feel like Tumblr Incarnate" and i had to tell them i've been here for 13 years and counting. i was here three years before dashcon happened. i saw the mishapocalypse. i survived the gigapause. i've been here longer than the shoelaces post. i've been here since it was hipsters versus fandom and i played both sides extensively by overdoing the sepia filters on everything and making my own flashing galaxy gif edits for my fandom posts. i'm every tumblr. it's all in me

genuinely one of the most powerful things you can & should do on this site is refuse to engage in bad faith criticism and arguments that don't seem to understand your point. It's not your job to pick apart and make sense of their response. I'm so guilty of trying to piece together the shit people say to me when its full of non sequiturs and misinterpretations. Just don't do it.
#other people's stuff#rent lowering gunshots#REAL AS FUCK#90% of people who partake in whatever Internet Discourse is popular are not interested in having productive discussions#They are interested in setting up Sick Dunks and Epic Pwns that will net them tons of internet points#When you realize this and stop engaging with the arguments that those people make the internet will make you less mad

Wrong: Ada Lovelace invented computer science and immediately tried to use it to cheat at gambling because she was Lord Byron's daughter.

Pick a romantic F/O!
It’s 5 years before they and your S/I get together. Someone who is able to see the future approaches your S/I and tells them they will end up with the F/O.
#other people's stuff#humanity's finest#if its Veda then Tieria would be much more likely to at least entertain the idea of the prediction being true#anyone else though? nah.#so my final answer is: i dont know/im bald/other infinitely nuanced answer

its crazy how lolcow culture is mainstream to the point where people in my life will look at me like im the weird one for being like ‘no i actually dont want to watch compilations of random disabled people being stalked and tormented by neonazis with you i dont find that funny’

More profound when you consider that Doctors Without Borders rarely makes political statements.
In #UNSC mtg on Middle East, @MSF SG Christopher Lockyear says: "Israeli forces have attacked our convoys, detained our staff, bulldozed our vehicles, hospitals have been bombed and raided. And now for a second time, one of our staff shelters has been hit. This pattern of attacks is either intentional or indicative of reckless incompetence. Our colleagues in #Gaza are fearful that as I speak to you today, they will be punished tomorrow."
He adds: "The humanitarian response in Gaza today is an illusion. A convenient illusion that perpetuates a narrative that this war is being waged in line with international laws. Calls for humanitarian assistance have echoed across this chamber. Yet in Gaza we have less and less every day, less space, less medicine, less food, less water, less safety."

"It's Been 12 years..."
WIP 'n these sketches for them.
After nearly 8 years of working and their relationship together after a high-profile homicide case, Majima and Khloe had grown close. Majima, a former Yakuza, and Khloe, a retired FBI agent, had shared a deep bond forged through countless dangers and close calls. But when the case ended and they had to part ways, fate was not kind. Khloe believed Majima had been killed during the events of Yakuza 5, and Majima thought Khloe had moved on with her life after they lost contact. Their separation was marked by silence, and both assumed the other was lost to them.
Now, years later, Khloe is living a quiet life in Waikiki, running a restaurant, having retired from the FBI. Her daughter has just finished college, and she’s found some peace, though her heart still aches with the memories of Majima. Unexpectedly, there’s a knock at her door. Khloe opens it to see the face she never thought she’d see again—Majima, standing there with a familiar, almost mischievous smile.
“I promised I’d see you again… once I was no longer Yakuza,” he says. The last time they saw each other was back in the 2008 when Majima tells Khloe when she left Japan to go home. Now, here he is, back in her life, as if fate had always planned for this reunion.
(I'm going to color this soon)
