Boxes.
491 days, the shelves are finally cleared out. The bulletin board has an empty space, cleared of the smiling faces and tickets of events. Drawers are cleared out and clothes are folded. Dozens of letters and cards piled up. Thousands of words that once held sincerity, and meaning now feel dull and just illusions of what could have been. Bracelets, teddy bears, drawings. Carefully places one over the other.
2,131 days neatly stacked and folded into a box. Memories buried, tears shed.
An empty heart and a heavy soul is all that is left from a moment of bliss only meant to last half a decade. How could that be the end to what felt like was meant to be for a lifetime? How could a whole lifetime just fit in a box?
Tucked away.
Forever.
