It's really wild when you look at a pair of characters who interact in canon and your reaction is "oh they're obviously meant to be a couple"

then you go on AO3 and they're a barely existent rare pair.

It's like "oh I see I must have access to the secret shipping goggles they didn't pass out to everyone else."

Presenting Hijikata and Tae on a summer date…in a 1950s-inspired AU! 

Tae’s fashion takes cue from Audrey Hepburn for a cute, casual, and classic style! Her outfit pays homage to Audrey’s gown in Sabrina (1954) through the cherry blossom print in a summer dress reminiscent of the trends of that decade.  Every time it comes Tae in more modern fashions, I always find myself returning to Audrey’s iconic style and fashion sense, which I think suits Tae wonderfully.

Hijikata’s fashion was inspired by two famous leading men during the golden age of cinema in the 50s (and beyond): Toshiro Mifune and Marlon Brando, from a photoshoot and A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), respectively. I thought the classic T-shirt and trousers look suited Hijikata best for a casual and romantic outing.

A collection of Hijikata x Tae drabbles, vignettes, and short stories with various genres and settings exploring the friendship and romantic relationship of Hijikata and Tae. In essence, a place for "scraps" or unfinished and unpublished works by yours truly. This collection will be updated as the muse strikes.

The amount of times I've seen people say that HijiTae actually makes sense when they stop and really think about it...!

It's a lot, and that's all it takes. We're not saying to ship only them or drop your other Gintama ships. We're just saying -- hey, this is an interesting dynamic with potential. If you're open-minded enough to try viewing them from a different angle when reading our perspectives based on canon, then that's cool, and you might even be surprised. If not, that's fine, carry on and whatnot. (Plus, you don't always need canon reasons or much reason beyond, "I like the idea of them," because fandom and shipping doesn't need to be That Deep.)

But it's fun when people have that realization about Hijikata and Tae. After all, we didn't write their interactions into the story; Sorachi did.

Anyway, feel free to sail aboard our ship for a vacation once in awhile. We have dark matter cookies and mayonnaise-filled daifuku. Our crew is tiny but mighty!

Finally bought Tae's husband Hijikata to match with Tae!
