A little trivia time here, the "something's gonna be exposed" bit, in Japanese the text is ポロリもあるよ(Porori mo aru yo). Porori by itself is an onomatopoeia for something that drops/falls off but I have a feeling it's a reference to something so I just googled to see what it's used for. Sure enough, it meant something else lol That whole "Porori mo aru yo" was first used by a Japanese TV for an R18 programme, that porori bit is usually inserted in the programme's title and it works like a click bait during that time lol, because it basically means, 'Hey guys, bare boobs and booties will be shown!' Nowadays, it's also used for horror gameplays and it acts as some sort of a warning for gory stuffs.

Here’s episode 2, again there’s a few screenshots in which either Haru or Hajime is closing their eyes, so forgive me and also, I've only noticed it now but there's a few grammatical errors as well, I edited most of these before I sleep, so excuse the mistakes.

Yeah, this event was like months and months ago but someone (you know who you are) asked me to translate a portion of the drama and I thought, why not the whole thing? lol So yeah, here they are.  Part 1 because there’s like 56 images in 1 episode and apparently tumblr couldn’t handle that much lol

Victor’s High-quality Lifestyle

Simply put - yes, he could support himself with figure skating, although not purely by competing. The majority of his earnings would come from sponsorships, endorsements, ice shows, contracts, and royalties.

Victor is definitely the highest paid skater of his time. Besides the big sponsorships that can cover a portion of costs, he’ll have magazine shoots and interviews, be invited to ice shows, and have endorsements in various fields (such as sportswear, jewelry, and food).

Training Cost  

This post does a great job of explaining the cost to compete, and mentions how skaters need some way to support themselves - whether that be ice shows, a job, or a bit of funding from skating federations in certain countries. It’s not just coaching fees and equipment (boots and blades), but ice time, travel costs, choreography fees (although Victor does his own choreo), music composition fees, costumes, physical therapy, consulting a nutritionist, dance instruction, day-to-day expenses….

It’s only the very top athletes or the very promising ones that companies are interested in sponsoring. For those top athletes in countries that care for figure skating, they’ll likely get good contracts at some point.

Highlights from the Yuri!!! on Stage Drama

The answer to the question: “what would happen if both Yuuri and Victor got drunk at the same time”

Which turns out to be: “they BOTH strip and get super flirty with each other”

Victor loving Yuuri’s off-season katsudon tummy and squishing it happily and excitedly

Victor drunkenly flirting with Chris, making Yuuri jealous and prompting him to go all “look only at me” and “you aren’t looking ENOUGH” on him

Them playing a drinking strip game (essentially rock-paper-scissors/janken)

The implication that this is a COMMON OCCURRENCE for Victor and Yuuri and that they do it often (i.e. whenever they drink together, which is apparently frequently)

Naked stretching during which “Chihokogate” happens

Victor getting super jealous at this “Chihoko” and assuming its Yuuri’s ex-lover

Yuuri waking up like 10 hours later with a vicious hangover, wearing Victor’s underwear on his head like its a goddamn crown, and the words “OVERCOME CHIHOKO” scribbled on his back

The plot twist being Victor misheard Yuuri saying the word “shachihoko” in Japanese, and thus there IS no ex-lover lmaoooo

Y: “I COULD SEARCH THE WHOLE WORLD–NOBODY IS BETTER THAN YOU”

A bit off topic but this just reminds me of how low Yuuri’s self esteem is. He is the only special certified male skater listed yet he sees himself as just ‘a dime in a dozen’ skater. Oh, Yuuri...  

Hey there. I have a question about Yuri on Ice ep 5. At the tournament, there are only 4 male skaters in the tournament and a huge bunch of female skaters. At the press conference, Yuuri is the only man on stage. Is the men/women distribution really that different in figure skating in Japan? Also, I sent you an ask a while ago and I just wanted to know if you happen to know what I asked. I forgot about it but remembered there was something XD Anyway, thanks for your awesome blog.

Yes, the distribution is skewed towards Ladies, although it’s not as dramatic as the distribution of skaters in Singles vs. Pairs & Ice Dance. Figure skating is considered a “feminine” activity by the general populace – much like ballet or ballroom dance. The viewpoint is definitely getting better, but it’s only relatively recently that the Men’s discipline has had the spotlight shone on them. Daisuke and Yuzuru have mentioned this before when talking about their early skating days.

But your question has two points, so I’ll address them in order:

Summary: The King of Day, Victor, drops flowers to the Ruler of Night, Yuuri, to express his love for him, but they are always returned, as Yuuri thinks that they’re dropped by mistake. 

Victor cries and plucks wishes off the petals every time, remembering the time when once, they had been together.

There are only two times that they meet every cycle, two times that their realms blur at the borders and the rulers walk past each other as one sigil rises where the other one falls. Dusk and dawn are the most precious times of day to Victor, because that’s the only opportunity he has to glimpse the elusive Ruler of Night.

The boundary separating them is not one that is easily described. No land can be night and day at the same time, no land can host them both together. So Victor waits for the moments that he throws the Sun into the heavens and the moments he calls it back to earth, for that is the only time that Night and Day blur and they can be together.

You gotta love Honjou Yuutaro and Toki Shunichi, their reactions are adorable XDD

For anyone still doubting that Yuuri and Victor didn’t actually kiss in episode 7, clinging to the misconception that maybe they just hugged, please watch this audio commentary for episode 7 between Kubo-sensei and Leo and Guang-Hong’s seiyuu, with translation as follows:

“Here it comes, here it comes…”

“It’s here!”

“Oh man—! Here it comes! Ah…ah, I CAN’T! No! Aaah!”

“Congratulations!”

“CONGRATULATIONS!!”

“It’s only episode 7!”

“They got married!”

“No no, not quite yet—not married just yet.”

“That’s still a little in the future.”

Given that they’d hugged on more than a few occasions before and in front of flashing cameras and thronging mobs, it’s safe to say Kubo-sensei and the seiyuu were not applauding a simple hug :P Nor would a hug in any way be interpreted even jokingly as getting married.

Uh... hi?

My last post was in 26 December 2016... Yeah...

No, I’m not closing the blog or anything, but I’m aware I’ve been neglecting it. Real life just happens, I guess?

I’ve been working a 9-to-5 job for almost 2 years now, and moreover, I teach Japanese on Sundays. I pretty much spend my down time catching up on sleep these days.

I still do translate stuffs though, but in a much slower pace than before.

What I’m currently translating (at a glacial pace):

- The 3 bonus minidramas from the tsukiuta artbook

- Procellarum members’ 1st season minidramas

- The duet minidramas

I know many people have posted their translations on most of these, but I’m gonna do it anyway. The main reason I started translating was to brush up my Japanese and it still does to this day, so I’m still going to translate them XD I still like tsukiuta and am currently (still) obsessed with Yuri!!! on Ice
