Can't help thinking about how fucked up it is that Sayaka gets roped into this whole magical girl stuff, heck, is actively invited into it by mami and kyubey, only to be categorically told that she is not supposed to be there once she steps foot into it. You were never supposed to be one, you were an ignorant bystander in your original timeline, living in blissful ignorance while your friend fights. Your admired upperclassman Mami was never supposed to be your friend, that relationship was always meant for Madoka only. You become a magical girl, and the first other mg you meet, Mami's old friend in fact, attempts to beat you out of the space, with extreme predjudice. You're far weaker than every other girl, and this is repeatedly pointed out to you, specifically by the creature that coerced you to fight. You entirely lack the 'potential' to change the world. In every single timeline you become a magical girl, you become a witch, your cosmic punishment for encroaching in a space you were never meant to be. All you ever wanted was to do right by others and yet you're punished for this over and over- because this world of magical girls never wanted you. Not to mention her wish. Over and over again, Sayaka is punished for wanting, for desiring to be more than she is right now. She was destined to be an ignorant bystander and punished for defying that- except she never really had a choice in getting wrapped up in the situation either.

And then your best friend rewrites that universe, and becomes a god. She, your beloved friend who you love and loves you in turn, respects your choices, sees the path you took and accepts it, not as the actions of an irrational interloper, but as your own actions, born from a reasonable set of decisions. She keeps you by her side. You become God's right hand. There is a place for you.

it’s 2025, why am i still seeing uraraka hate?

something that i think is incredibly important when it comes to uraraka specifically is the japanese value of filial piety. a lot of japan considers it of upmost importance that one acts in service of their parents, taking care of them as they grow older. and i think ochako's reasoning behind her goal to be a hero, is exactly that. she grew up poor and found a job that makes it so she will be able to give her family what they never had when she was growing up, a sense of stability.

in my opinion, this is showcased by the fact that as a young girl she told them she wanted to get a quirk license to help them with their company. they turned her down though and told her to follow her own dreams instead. her dream was to be a hero because she saw a hero in the street once and was awed by how happy the experience made everyone around her, especially her parents, who were usually stressed. she wanted to provide that joy, an ideal that meshes well with izuku's own desire to be "a hero that saves people with a smile".

also, it should be noted that ochako specifically idolizes rescue heroes, the hero thirteen being her favorite. she wants to be a rescue hero herself and considering that isn't likely to be the kind of hero who gets into a lot of flashy fights, the way the top 10 heroes do, and instead save people from natural disasters and the like, it's likely rescue heroes make considerably less money than traditional limelight heroes.

so while part of the reason she wants to be a hero is because of the money - which she explicitly states she wants to use to make her parents comfortable - even then, i doubt uraraka only wants to be a hero for the money.

all this to say, i would take a bullet for uraraka ochako.

so i’m working on my sailor moon rewrite and a big part of the story is gonna be WORLDBUILDING and giving the universe a harder magic system (by “harder” i mean that the magic system in pgsm is very soft and pliable and i wish to make it more structured in my story).

the first way i’m gonna be doing that is by adding some stuff to the silver millennium era. starting with giving the girls (and queen serenity) names to differentiate them from their roles as senshi. so in my fic all the girls primarily go by their titles. “serenity” is the title of the current reigning ruler and her heiress. the silver millennium is the name of the combined queendoms, overruled by the lunar queendom. the lunar queendom is a matriarchal society that has the role of queen passed down from daughter to daughter, which began with high queen serenity asteria.

queen serenity’s official title is high queen serenity asteria. she is the immortal queen of the moon kingdom and the highest ruler of the silver millennium, with all other planets’ royal families serving under her, excluding the earth. i chose the name of the titaness of stars for her.

princess serenity selene is her daughter and heiress. queen serenity said she was seen as the incarnation of selene, the greek titaness of the moons.

senshi mercury was born as princess maia, the eldest daughter of the planet of mercury, a society of scientists and creators for the silver millennium, what allowed the empire to progress so far technologically. the nymph maia is the mother of hermes, the greek version of mercury.

senshi mars was born as princess areia, the eldest daughter of the planet of mars, a society of warriors and protectors. areia is a greek epithet that several goddesses had that means “warlike”.

senshi jupiter was born as princess dione, the eldest daughter of the planet of jupiter, a society of agriculturists. dione is a name that came from the same etymological roots as zeus (from the mykenaean goddess diwia, which sounds very similar to the mykenaean god diwe/diwo, an older form of zeus), zeus being the greek version of jupiter.

senshi venus was born as princess astarte, the eldest daughter of the planet of venus, a society of poets and artists, and the leader of princess serenity selene’s personal guard. astarte was the hellenized form of the northwest semitic goddess ʿaṯtart, the equivalent of the mesopotamian goddess ishtar who has been accepted by many scholars as a predecessor to aphrodite. i chose astarte over aphrodite bc she was historically the goddess of love, beauty, and war (ishtar/inanna was also a goddess of love, beauty, and war as well as the queen of heavens).

the outer senshi were lunarians with star seeds that were revealed to be sailor crystals for the farthest planets (excluding senshi saturn). they protect princess serenity selene from threats outside the solar system with the talismans that high queen serenity asteria gifted them. senshi pluto was born as ananke, named after the orphic goddess of necessity. senshi uranus was born as ourania, a greek epithet meaning “heavenly”. senshi neptune was born as thalassa, named for the primordial goddess of the sea’s surface (thalassa is also a moon of neptune!).

the final senshi is senshi saturn, born as persephatta, a lunarian who did not realize her true role until after the golden kingdom of earth attacked the lunarian queendom, leading to the deaths of the inner senshi and the lunarian princess. after awakening, she proceeded to destroy the rest of the silver millennium with a single swing of her glaive. persephatta is a form of the name persephone, the queen of the greek underworld. the popular folk etymology of persephone is “the destroyer”, which fits for saturn.
