"these researchers published a paper on something that literally any of us could have told you 🙄" ok well my supervisors wont let me write something in my thesis unless I can back it up with a citation so maybe it's a good thing that they're amplifying your voice to the scientific community in a way that prevents people from writing off your experiences as annecdotal evidence

Gid in Gideon the 9th is also such a great example of how to do an unreliable narrator because she isn't lying to herself or the audience, isn't impaired, and doesn't have a skewed grasp of reality, she just genuinely has no clue what's fucking happening about 80% of the time. Genuinely finds out about the plot of her own book about half a chapter after every other character, and as a result so does the reader. Brilliant.
EDIT: okay she's lying to herself a little about one and only one thing, but which of us *haven't * lied to ourselves just a little about a local disaster-zone of a goth girl?

Republican policies and misogynistic rhetoric are killing the white birth rate.
White conservative single men are broken.
White conservative single women can't find a decent partner.
Republican lonerism is coming home to roost.

If you want to know more about the history of coverture, and why this is such a problem, here's a good article on the topic written by Dr. Catherine Allgor, a historian at UC Riverside and Director of Education at the Huntington Library. It was posted by the online side (currently the only side) of the National Women's History Museum: https://www.womenshistory.org/articles/coverture-word-you-probably-dont-know-should
maybe i’m a joyless bitch but i actually do NOT think it’s funny to see women being like “the house is just in my husbands name” or “my husband makes all the money” or “i don’t even know who our mortgage is with” or “the only bank account/credit card is his and i get an allowance” like i do NOT find that cute or romantic and i am begging these women to Stand Up. you should at least be named on the deed to your house and the title to your car and the bank accounts even if you don’t pay for them/earn all the money. you can’t stop existing in the eyes of the law and the credit unions simply because you have a husband. if you’re raising his children and washing his socks half of everything he’s got is yours and it needs to be yours LEGALLY BY NAME. "he takes such good care of me :)" girl you are a PRISONER!! that’s all

NON-GREEK PEOPLE, YOU HAVE MISSED OUT THE BEST PUN/REFERENCE IN (dubbed) MOVIES HISTORY
Like- this is not just a pun- a joke in translation. THERES A WHOLE LORE BEHIND THIS
LOOK
In English the conversation goes like this:
Robot: why is it an acorn?
Kid: I didn't have time to sculpture everything
In greek it goes like this:
Robot: is that the opening theme from "Para pente"?
Kid: You're watching too much TV
This is a screenshot from the theme song
Tumblr media
Oh not so funny you might say, just both looking like a board game
But-
Do you know who voiced the robot?
That guy
Tumblr media
Do you know who wrote the show and also plays one of the main characters?
That guy
Tumblr media
Like- this line {is that the opening theme from "Para pente"?} Is like a 4th wall break with a reference joke both to the most famous show in Greece and himself ajakjajsdj
{You're watching too much tv} bitch pls he created the show
Is this as amazing as I think it is? Do I just make it a big deal cause I'm obsessed with the show and Kapoutzidis? Who knows?🤷‍♀️
Thanks to my mutual who reminded me of that scene

i made a character sheet. free to use as you wish, feel free to change whatever you want XD open source ass thing. spent all of ~maybe an hour on it.
Credit: the text in the insert-image box comes from this video, and the text for the top three lines (intense, complex, fruity) comes from this post. The actual image was made with the free NBOS character sheet creator, which is a sort of dated but free and solid text-layout sheet maker intended for ttrpg style character sheet creation.
