Saturday and Sunday 11-12/08 (last weekend) :

For the last weekend in Russia, the russian family took us to their vacation home. We took the opportunity to take a dip in the water and used the sauna.

The next day, we went a boat tour, we sailed on the lake. The last evening we ate together around a table and shared the meal. I leave with good memories a thank you to the Russian family for all his moments shared with them.

Friday 10/08 :

Today we went to visit cathedral of Saint Petersburg. We visited saint Isaac’s cathedral and Church of the Savior on Blood. The name of Church of the Savior on blood refers to the blood shed during the assassination of Emperor Alexander II, mortally wounded.

The roof of the church is very typical of Russia with domes, decoration and gilding we recognize the russian roofs.

This afternoon, we went in a expostion of sand statues. The city organized a contest and rewarded the winner of this contest.

Thuesday 09/08 :

Today, was the second day in the museum. We visited the russian floor and asian floor.

One more time, we saw a splendid decoration in rooms with gilding and sculpture. Russian floors are very interessant because we discoverded differents traditions as time goes on. From armors to furnitures we could see the developement of russian culture. 

The Asian floor, recounted the old nations across statues, idols, armors and furnitures.

Wednesday 08/08 :

Today, we went to visit the biggest museum of Russia, The Hermitage. Make up with four floors and three building, the Hermitage is one of the largest museum in the world. To visit it, it took us two days. 

At the strat, the Hermitage was the Palace of Tsars of russia, now it is a museum. 

Wednesday we chose to visit the Egyptian floor, Greek floor and Dutch painter floor. The egyptian floor have mummy, sarcophagus and Egyptian tablet. The Greek floor contains a lot of staues and ceramics. Finally the museum dedicated one floor to the dutch painter.

To finish the day we went to watch the clock of the museum. The clock is very special because all hours a mechanism causes the mouvement of animals as well as leaves.

Thuesday 07/08 :

We went to Peterhof, another summer palace of Tzars of Russia. We visited the palace and discovered differents room inside the palace. After the visit of the palace we chose to visit the garden, Peterhof is famous for its fountains and gardens. Original fountains dignified of Versailles and with the setting in operation of the differents fountains, Versailles has something to be afraid of. During ignition we can hear music.

Monday 06/08 :

We went to visit the Faberge Museum. Faberge was a russian jeweler and famous for his eggs. We discovered eggs of Faberge, they are so wonderful. Set with precious stones and gave them to Tsars of Russia them by way of present. Each eggs have distinctive characteristic, precious stones, metal, décoration.

Tonight, we went to watch a ballet. The swan Lake is a splendid ballet and takes us to the heart of ballet, the leader dancer takes us into his universe.

Sunday 05/08 :

This afternoon we went to the stadium of Saint Petersburg to assist of the first match of the season. we decided to support the team of Saint Petersburg “Zénith”. We brought luck because they won the match and we celebrated this victory.

Tonight we took ticket to do a boat tour for watched the opening of bridges and saw the city in the night. This opening is very special because when the drawbridge to stand up we can listen Russian songs.  This is reproduce for all brigdes.

Saturday 04/08 :

The morning, we went to the Catherine Palace in Tsarkoye Selo near Saint Petersburg. We visited the garden because the palace opened at 12 o’clock. The garden is similar to the garden of Versailles in France. But archtitecture is really different and the differents building have been built over time. The cathrine palace was the summer residence of Tsars.

The afternoon, we visited the Cathrine Palace. Inside of the palace we saw walls covered by gilding. The palace constitute of around thirty room have been built in length. The famous room is the Amber Room, the walls of this room are made with gold and amber completed by mirror. We could not took photos in this room but i took photo before the room across a door.

Friday 03/08:

The morning, we visited the city with a boat, the baroque architecture is very typical of the old Russia, when the Tsar reigned on the Russia. With the boat we discovered old buildings. Most of them buildings are in white/Blue or White/Yellow. 

The aftrenoon, we decided to visit the Peter and Paul Fortress, we took tickets and visited differents buildings. We were staring by the Saint Peter and Paul cathedral. After we visited the old jail used at the 19e-20e century, then we visited a new museum of aerospace of Russia. We saw replicas of first reactor used for space rocket and an authentic capsule of landing. The evening, we went to the restaurant with the russian family to celebrate the birthday of my dad.

Thursday 02/08 :

Holidays begin. My family and me took the airplane from Frankfurt to Saint Petersburg to meet the russian family. Arrived to Saint Petersburg, the russian family welcomed us and escorted at the appartement in the city center.
