Ren was sent by the fairy queen of the Shadow Circle (Lizzie) to go find Cleo. There was a huge ordeal with Big B being possessed and arson (on Cleo's behalf) and Ren was sent to go find them so Big B can make amends. He does find her eventually, in a cottage with a harpy named Pearl and a Fae named Scott and his human husband Jimmy. Cleo is not happy to see the werewolf there but after talking for a bit, they agree to go with. Besides it was becoming unsafe in that area with the Southland monster hunters closing in. Jimmy does worry how they're going to get Martyn to the Shadow Circle.

"Who's Martyn?"

Martyn and Jimmy used to be Southland hunters. Really, they were using it as a cover to help free and warn the monsters of the hunters' plans and sabotage their tech. They were leading the most recent group through the cave system when they were cornered by Grian. Martyn held him off while Jimmy led the monsters to safety, resulting in Grian stabbing Martyn. Grian panicked and ran to get help. However, the skulk in the caves saw this as an opportunity to create a new member and started to turn Martyn into a warden. Jimmy went back for him and dragged him to the cottage.

And Martyn has been recovering from that transformation ever since. Ren didn't know what to expect when he saw him, maybe a huge beast that was once human, but no. Martyn was shorter than him, glowing blue eyes and even darker sclera, horns and tail very similar to an axolotl's, claws. He was gorgeous and very much in need of help. He'd been human all his life and suddenly he's this thing. Ren knows that feeling very well.

It seemed cruel at first, to walk into a heavily padded room. A room that felt deathly silent, and far too bright. But he realized after talking at his full volume why it was that way. He didn't even connect that a warden's hearing is far more sensitive, far more sharp. Two much noise could easily send an aged one into a rage, he dreads to think how little it would take for a newly turned.

And yet, Martyn seems to like Ren's voice the most...

Gem is bullied into being Rudolph each year. Honestly, she does it for the attention. If she gets nothing else, she gets praises for being so adorable with her bright red nose!

She owns it, at least! Being one of the only hybrids with antlers on the server definitely narrows their options, but she likes to think they see more than just her antlers and instead her dazzling personality.

Sword and Shield theme:

Martyn is Ren's weapon (think Soul Eater). He can transform into any weapon Ren would need whether it's an axe, sword, giant hammer, shield, mace, etc. Martyn loves it because he loves Ren and being able to protect him is one of the best things he could ever do. Protect the person he loves more than anything in the world, though he probably won't admit it out loud.

So, tell him why, in a losing battle, Ren jumps between Martyn and his attacker instead of wielding him as his sword. Tell him why Martyn was now standing in the infirmary with Ren being examined by doctors. Tell him why he's covered in Ren's blood and not their enemies.

He's supposed to protect him. That's his job as a weapon, isn't it?

He's failed Ren. That's all he can think of. He failed Ren. He failed him and now Ren might die. How is he supposed to live with himself? He can't fight by himself. He's a weapon not, ironically, a fighter. Without Ren... He's nothing.

Joe works late night, not because he needs to or anything. He just do because that's just your average Joehills, even if he is a teeny tiny bit of tired. After several nights of just working, he often hallucinate a figure in dark cloak with their face hidden that somehow talked him to sleep.

Zedeath on the other hand, is making sure Joe doesn't die of overworking... And maybe after years of doing that, they might have been enchanted by the way Joe plays with words like poems and his hilarious traits.

They seem to be more endearing the more tired he is (and perhaps the closer to death he is... Zedeath wouldn't be surprised if that's just his biases coming in though).

Pearl insists on fucking Grian without his magic. Big handsome dragon man! Who wouldn't want that on top of them?

Grian, having had sex without magic before with non-hermits, makes her a 10-page book about all of the issues that could come from this— especially if she gives him permission to feed to his instincts on her.

Pearl skims over it before brewing a couple shulker boxes full of healing, Turtle Master and speed potions, along with a few golden apples for good measure. The only that could stop her from fucking a monster-man three times Doc's size is Grian not consenting. And, worried though he may be, he gives her full consent. It would be nice to finally satisfy his instincts telling him to make Pearl his mate.

The hermits jokingly send Pearl off into his den like she's going to war, never to return.

Pearl quickly learns that all the resistance in the world does not stop the feeling of being split in two like a log into planks. She's pretty sure she had an out of body experience. She didn't know anything that big could fit inside of a person. She thought he was going to go past her organs and just make a tunnel somewhere inside of her.

Honestly? 100/10 experience. She has never had better sex in her life. Nothing else comes close.

Now, if she could just convince Grian to stop treating her like the most delicate thing in his life and pound her into their nest...

Like come on she's already proved that she can take it, right? Worse case scenario she has to respawn, but really she cannot complain if that adds another tick to her death statistic.

Neither Grian nor Scar would consider themselves good with swords. They have different methods of getting things done! Mostly explosive ones.

But there comes a time when a sword is needed... And those times usually involve a lot of shrieking and chaos.

They are not the most intimidating of couples.

It took Martyn a long time to come to terms with his sexuality, so when he’s invited onto HermitCraft for the yearly pride celebration he considers declining, too nervous and embarrassed to show up and wave his flags.

That is until Cleo messages him, telling him how excited they are to see him and can’t wait to celebrate their first pride as a couple. Seeing Cleo so excited, so full of light, made him suck it up and rsvp to the celebration, sending Xisuma a confirmation message.

He owes it to them for everything he’s done to her over the years and the shit they’d put up with. He also owed it to her for helping him figure out his identity, after years of struggling. Martyn had experimented with loads of people over the years, but nothing ever stuck and nothing felt quite right.

That is until one night in Double Life as Cleo and Martyn laid side by side in Cleo’s bed after the Warden being released, Martyn had opened up about his struggles with his identity, and Cleo had comforted him and told him that it was a common experience for queer people to feel like that.

They then went into detail about their identity as a nonbinary person, and then their sexuality. Explaining bisexuality to him, how it’s flexible and the label is different to every person. Martyn had laid there and listened, taking everything they were saying in, until he’d started to cry. This had shocked Cleo and she asked if he was okay, but Martyn confirmed he was. He felt okay with his sexuality for the first time, and from then on used to bisexual label.

So fast forward a few years and there Martyn is, walking hand in hand with Cleo down a parade as the two of them had bisexual capes and Cleo wore a nonbinary flower crown. Ren was on Martyns other side, tail wagging as he flew his own flag, and behind and in front of them were more hermits. Everywhere Martyn looked he saw more friends; Grian, Scar, False, Doc, Jimmy, Pearl, Lizzie, Gem, everyone. Each of them flying their own flags or flying the flag of a friend.

Martyn felt safe, and he felt home.

He should have known that the hermits would be accepting. It'll take more confidence to be open outside of here, but just having here is good enough.

Pearl has...a bit of a mob infestation problem. She loves building a ton of shadowy areas but that leads to getting shot at every few seconds and constant near explosions. But it's too dangerous to go in to light it up with all the monsters already there.

So she calls her girlfriend to handle it for her.

Gem is having a blast, stabbing monsters left and right while occasionally placing a torch. Pearl is watching from the side, making sure nothing goes wrong.

Cleo has just finished an armor stand piece as a surprise for their girlfriends and is looking for them to show it to them. She finds Pearl easy enough, and hugs her from behind, kissing her head.

"Hello gorgeous, where's Gem?"

"In the hole"

She points to a huge pit in the ground, unlit and full of mobs

"...ah. Okay. And how do we get her out of the hole?"

"...that's a good question"

Cleo doesn't feel like waiting, so she equips their elytra and jumps.

Gem is laughing manically, she hasn't had this much fun in a while, not even thinking as she stabs skeleton after skeleton, creeper after creeper, zombie after...Cleo.

They both stand there, shocked. Gem's sword plunged into Cleo's chest. Cleo is wincing in pain. Gem immediately drops the sword and steps back.

"Cleo, I d-didn't mean to...I'm so sorry, I-"

"Gem, love, it's- ...it's okay, I'm gonna be fine"

"You have a SWORD in your CHEST! MY sword! I...I hurt you!"

The mobs are coming back, they need to get out.

"I can still fly, I think, we need to hurry."

Gem nods with tears in her eyes. They both manage to make it out, Cleo losing consciousness just as they reach the top.

Cleo wakes up in a bed, with hermits panicking around them. Drama queens. The sword is gone, and they've tried to stitch up the hole but...well, she loves them dearly, but...

She tries to sit up and is immediately pushed down by three different pairs of hands. They push them all off and make their way through and run to her base. The other hermits are yelling, but she doesn't hear Gem and Pearl's voices.

When Cleo gets back and heads to the basement where she keeps extra body parts and limbs for when they need to be replaced, Pearl and Gem are already there.

"Hey you two, what're you doing here"

Gem is silently staring at the gaping hole in her chest.

"Oh relax, I've had much worse. I assume Pearl told you about the whole replacing parts thing?"

She nods.

"Yep, I think I picked out a good one! This look good to you?"

"Yeah, it's gonna take a while to do this, and it's gonna be kinda gory, are you two sure you want to-"

"We're gonna help you."

"...okay"

No one's really helped Cleo do this before, except maybe during the Life Series when her team needed them alive and able to fight. It's slow, and a bit sloppy, but Gem and Pearl manage to sew her back up with a new torso. Pearl had to go throw up a few times, but Cleo doesn't mind. Once they're done, Gem looks resigned and turns to leave.

"Where are you going, sweetheart?"

"Aren't you...breaking up with me? For stabbing you?"

"Gem I get stabbed all the time, of course I'm not breaking up with you, now come help me up so we can go cuddle with Pearl in bed"

"Oh...okay!"

Later that night, Pearl mumbles, half asleep, "Do you think you could replace my torso? I want a spider one."

Needless to say, they do not replace Pearl's torso and sleeping is postponed by them laughing.

Lizzie has maybe become a bit too confident with having godlike powers. Dashing about on misadventures takes a lot of time!

So, when she spars with Cleo and Gem, it's a little embarrassing how easily even Cleo beats her! Cleo, who so often states their lack of PvP skill.

Ugh... Guess she'll have to just spend more time with them to practice!

Etho promises Gem that he’s good with a sword. He’s been training off the arena, learning new techniques and everything… He just gets easily distracted.

When Gem asks him why, he doesn’t say. But it might have to do with the glint of her blade, of her wild eyes when she gets the upper hand, how she flushes red after a long fight…. there’s a lot to get distracted by when Etho’s fighting Gem.

Gem argues Etho needs to keeps training. If he's able to duel with her so long despite certain... Distractions, imagine what he could do fighting somebody else!

And, hey, Gem wouldn't say no to watching Etho fight somebody else... It means she'll get to focus on his looks for once.

It took Scott a long time to come to terms with his identity as a gay man, but it took Impulse even longer to come to terms with his as a bisexual man.

Scotts able to be out and proud with his sexuality, decorating himself in makeup and glitter and clothing tbe colours of the gay and demiboy flags easily, and Gem sports the transfem and bisexual colours with intense pride, but Impulse prefers to hide himself away.

It takes accusations of homophobia from Gem & The Scott fans, claiming that Impulse is “faking his relationship with Scott” and that he “secretly hates gay people” for Impulse to ask Scott, tears in his eyes, to decorate him in the bisexual, nonbinary and bear flag colours for their next performance.

Scott happily obliged with the request, but made sure to reassure his boyfriend that no matter what the fans think, if they even deserve to call themselves that for this behaviour, he loves Impulse and every part of him with all his heart. Impulse merely says he knows, and sits in silence while his makeup and outfit is done.

He surprises Scott with a passionate kiss at their next performance, pulling Scott towards him as they finish their final song and kissing him deeply on the mouth. This causes the venue to erupt into applause and cheers, Gem being the loudest of them all as she cheers her Scotts on as the curtain falls.

It doesn't stop the accusations. People who believe those things rarely change their mind when presented with new evidence, simply chasing the next controversy.

But the confidence it gives Impulse makes Scott's heart sing. He smiles so much more and Scott could stare at that smile forever. That's what matters. Scott and Gem would throw all the fame away in an instant if it meant seeing Impulse happy.

This Week's Theme is: swordsmanship

Whether it's something hermits are good or bad at, it's a useful skill to fend off mobs. Or to impress a certain someone, perhaps?

Out of Bdubs, Etho, and Tango, Bdubs is the one who resembles a human the most, even if he isn’t one entirely. Sure his eyes might be a little larger than usual, but that’s about it.

Tango and Etho, meanwhile, are quite different. Both can look human-ish enough, but the forms they’re comfortable in very much aren’t. It took all three of them a bit to get used to everything, but they make it work. They didn’t exactly know how nonhuman the others were at the start of their relationship, and they still learn new things about each other all the time.

One time, when their relationship was still pretty new, Bdubs had joined Tango on the couch to cuddle. He hadn’t been expecting to suddenly feel two sets of arms wrapping around him, but that was surprisingly easy to get used to, and it makes for nice hugs.

The first time Etho had taken his mask off around Tango and Bdubs, it had been while they were discussing how they felt about kissing. Etho had mentioned being curious about what it’d be like to be kissed more directly, instead of just through his mask, but he did warn his partners that he wouldn’t be able to kiss back.

Tango and Bdubs were fine with that, even though they hadn’t been expecting the reason to be that Etho had a gaping hole in his face instead of a mouth. They still don’t know where Etho’s real mouth is, if he even has one.

But over the years they’ve all gotten used to each other, and Bdubs loves every bit of his partners, whether those bits be tails, wings, weird eyes, sharp teeth, or whatever else makes Tango and Etho who they are.

Bdubs also considers himself lucky to have seen both of his partner’s true forms, even if he’s only actually seen Etho’s twice.

Tango returns to his true form every now and again, and despite being made of pure fire he doesn’t burn, and Bdubs will gladly cuddle up to him when it’s getting too cold. Etho’s true form is a bit more incomprehensible, and can be harsh on the eyes if you were to look at it for too long, but Bdubs still hopes that he’ll be able to see it again some day, even if the only detail he can really remember is the strange glitchiness of it.

It's already, Bdubs can get them back! He just has to look at them really hard with his big ol' eyes. Etho normally finds it cute and Bdubs gets a headpat and nuzzle (easier than kissing without a conventional mouth.) Tango startles like he's just seen an alien, which is even better.

Every time he turns around. Bdubs is there. Staring. This is what he gets for burning Bdubs' favourite apron by 'accident' (they all know that's not true...)

I noticed that on wels channel recommendeds, he only has scar in terms of current members which spawned this dorky hc that character wels has a little man crush on scar that no one else knows about.

Theres some theories amongst the gossips of the server but they all think hes crushing on xisuma or jevin, maybe even hypno.

Nope, scar.

Back in the day, the two were inseparable. Waving at each other across the mesa and finding every opportunity to work together.

They grew apart over the years. Well, Wels learnt to hide his crush better. Clearly Scar wasn't interested so there was no use moping about like a lost puppy.

Scar is devastated. He doesn't know why Wels stopped hanging around so much. Did he get tired of Scar? This is terrible news!

The hermits will help set them right eventually... Once they figure out why the pair are both acting so pathetic.

One thing that Grian didn't expect from going on T was the growth spurt. He had always been fairly short, but once he went on T he shot up like bamboo. He thought his growth plates had closed, but apparently not!

It sucked. Growing pains, stretch marks, none of his clothes or shoes fit him, he was tripping constantly, he actually had to get stitches after he fell and cracked his head open.

One of the best parts? He's much taller than Pearl now. Now, he gets to put things on high shelves! Ha!

He didn't expect Pearl to have prepared for this. She is so proud of her lovely boyfriend, but the heels are coming out. She's not losing this war yet!

Cleo, being a zombie, has the opportunity to choose their body (literally) every few decades. Their most recent body was chosen in Gem's image because she thought Gem was pretty and didn't realise why. She knows now, of course, but still doesn't tell Gem.

Of course, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but it's so embarrassing! Imagine being so oblivious to your feelings that you want to look like a girl because she's pretty and you don't think to question that! And then you only figure it out some odd years later (they both lost track) when she asks you out! (She said yes. How could they not?)

Gem offers to grow Cleo's next body for them, no cost! Cleo is, somehow, not surprised this is knowledge Gem has. Because of course it is.

They think they'll stick with this look for a while longer.
