in light of a four day ceasefire in Gaza being agreed upon, i am once again asking you all not to lose sight of the big picture. Biden and the Israeli Government are trying to frame this as a major democratic victory and as a favor respectively. they have no intention of a total ceasefire. they have no intention of stopping their genocide. remember - a ceasefire is the very first step. it’s not even the bare minimum.
the absolute bare minimum in this situation is 1) a complete ceasefire and immediate humanitarian aid in Gaza, 2) complete halt of all military foreign aid to the Israeli government, 3) the Israeli government being prosecuted for its war crimes in the International Criminal Court, and 4) land back and reparations for the Palestinian people. free Palestine means free Palestine, not just temporarily stop carpet bombing Palestine.
a temporary ceasefire is something, but it’s not even close to the end goal. we cannot let up pressure when things seem to be looking up. keep protesting, boycotting, spreading awareness, contacting politicians, etcetera. keep your eyes on Gaza. free Palestine.

"4 day ceasefire" "but we're still going to flatten gaza right after so this means nothing to us." hate how they're framing it as a ceasefire this is just another humanitarian pause and this is not what the people are asking for when they demand a ceasefire.

ilan pappé is so surgically precise in his criticism of zionist liberals and leftists and he has really highlighted what frustrates me the most about their allyship (which largely revolves around the sanctimonious stance of not wanting palestinians dead, otherwise known as the bare fucking minimum)
What is most illuminating – in the dialogue the liberal Zionists have with themselves on the pages of Haaretz – is their vicious attack on any one associating colonialism with Israel. [...] The Global Left is guilty of two ‘sins’, in the eyes of the liberal Zionists: one, it refers to Israel as a settler-colonial state and two, it provides a context for the Hamas attack on October 7.
There is no middle ground anymore. There is no way of supporting the liberal occupier, the progressive ethnic cleanser and the leftist genocider. The attempt to frame the stance I am calling for as racist or antisemitic will not hold water. It is a matter of where you would see yourself at this critical juncture in history, and how you value your own sense of self respect.
many of them are willing to criticize everything about israel but fall just short of admitting their role as settler colonizers or its existence as a settler colonialist state. its a very telling stance, because it keeps them defensive instead of apologetic. and i do believe the first step to any progress is real acknowledgement of what zionism taken from palestinians and how to repair this. it's not tangential, it's central.
i also think without acknowledging or understanding the settler colonialism paradigm, any and all solidarity with palestinians is inherently frightening to them because they don't understand that all previously and currently colonized peoples see themselves in the palestinian struggle. instead they see solidarity with palestinians as anti-semitism (solidarity against israel instead of solidarity with palestine) because they misunderstand the palestinian cause and their role within it.
its an intellectual weakness that comes from either willful ignorance, brainwashing or a lack of real empathy. their allyship and their role will always be conditional until they fully understand this. until they do both palestinian resistance and solidarity will continue to feel more threatening to them than the violent apparatus of the israeli military state that is literally keeping them in a perpetual state of war. all their attempts to seek peace without confronting this are either naïve and ineffectual or serve to obfuscate their own brutal military regime even as it perpetuates horror in their name.

SAG doesn't have any labor protection for its members who got fired for being pro-Palestine. Not surprising given that its president, Fran Drescher raised 60 million dollars for the IDF

This video caught by Saleh aljafarawi is worse than anything, beyond comprehension. These children are alive, crushed by the rubble and the weight of their loved ones' dead bodies above them, but alive. Their screams are haunting. Remember that there are no resources to dig people up from underneath the rubble, so civilians have to dig up people using their bare hands. Today marks the 46th and every day a massacre is committed by Israel that's worse than the one before. Speak up, don't get bored or used to any of this. It isn't normal and never will be.
Trigger warning, even if you can't look which I think you should, share this, let the world mark Israel's crimes and the horrors they install upon civilians in gaza every day.
Demand a ceasefire, keep the pressure up and keep talking about Palestine.

This was the last report from Farah Omar an hour before Israel’s occupational army targeted her and cameraman Rabih Maamari, killing them both. In South Lebanon, read that again. Lebanon.
This brings the total number of journalists killed since the war on Gaza started to 56.

I keep posting this because it's important people see the tricks the US Empire will pull in order to ensure the occupation of Palestine doesn't end.
When Netanyahu is removed and scapegoated for the crimes Israel has committed, his more moderate replacement will go on a media tour in order to repair Israel's image in the West and a diplomatic tour in order to restore diplomatic relations with the countries that have recalled their ambassadors or cut diplomatic ties entirely. The genocide we're witnessing will be treated like a mild mistake that will never happen again (that Palestinians have brought on themselves). More money will be allocated to Zionist groups in the West to ensure that the public doesn't turn on Israel again.
Meanwhile, Palestinians will continue to get imprisoned, tortured and killed, only now without the world paying attention (just like what happened after the 2021 war). It's our duty as people who are pro Palestine to ensure that this fails. We need to make sure they don't sweep the genocide under a rug. We need to make that Western politicians and journalists don't clean the blood off their hands in the same way we've spent 45 days countering Israeli propaganda
