Not gonna lie, it often worries me to see you anxious people on here. This place is bad for anxiety. The local mishmash of everything makes it so everything stays at the top of your mind the second you browse, so the second you try to log on to rest your mind, you get torrents of extra things to worry about instead. It’s about as counterproductive as it comes. =X

You should, I think you’ll love it! It’s an entirely different game from Skyrim, just with the same assets, so it’s kind of like playing Skyrim for the first time all over again, except with much stronger writing. Fantastic companions, too.

If you do decide to play it, read nothing about it. Only how to install. The more Enderal hits you in the knees, the better. Even the intro alone is a serious kick in the face!

Outside is perf, I am definitely enjoy. Well, except for the epic drought we’ve had going over Europe since June (it’s STILL not raining ffs), but apart from fields looking more and more like the Serengeti plains, it’s still great. Makes for extremely good birdwatching, too, since with the drought (and therefore lack of insects), birds come to feeding spots more. The magpies here even literally come to perch on my henhouse fence to caw for their share of seeds, which is both sort of sad and completely adorable.

Also, the heat waves mean fields and woods alike are overrun with rodents. Which in turn means OWLS, OWLS EVERYWHERE. Which is just as awesome as it sounds. You can hear Long-Eareds and Tawnies around and over the house through the whole night, and Barn Owls from over the hill. =)

Oh it wasn’t a recent one I’m in a group for tales of rebirth and formerly destiny’s translations. The great outdoors are quite wondrous though. I made a local friend a year ago and we go to east Asian grocery stores and festivals and stuff together now.

Very good to hear you have a local friend! And huh, what song is being an issue in Rebirth? Good night? That one should be easy to retool. What’s the problem exactly? Argument over whether to translate, sub, or localize?

If you somehow ever end up needing an op-size English take on Abyss’ Karma, I have one lying around.

Also simple and clean, Utada wanted to use a chorus for hikari and got turned down so she used it in a different japanese song but got what she wanted from the start with simple and clean. I don’t remember the dam name of it anymore, but she ls fluent in English and did all of that herself.

It’s less about the melody change, and more about how they’re in effect two different songs that practically say the opposite things. They’re nice songs, but as translations of each other, they’re absolutely terrible.

THAT REMINDS ME OF ONE MORE THING THOUGH. There’s a guy in our chat who frequently discusses how he’s trying to do a semi-remake of ToP SNES which is as close as he can manage to what Team Wolf was originally trying to make while fixing bugs and bad programming, like adding Brambald back in as a playable character. I’m glad to see you I thought you were dead. I was recently talking to tales of translators who are working on games wishing they knew what the hell to do with translating song lyrics and thought “if only Angie was here she’d whirl something our with a rant about music terms I don’t understand at the end”. I’m just glad to see you’re okay no worries about lateness.

Nonsense, I’m immortal. I merely happen to subsist on the blood and despair of nursing interns, and so need plausible excuses to prowl undetected among them every once in a while. Nothing short of a direct meteor strike is going to actually kill me. That or breaking my neck tripping on a flat surface. 50/50.

The world of Outside is a strange and wondrous place full of cats and chainsaw gardening and accidental shrimp adventures, so I’m completely out of touch with anything fandom (except for old things I already knew before) and can’t comment on modern Tales of Songs. I can tell your fellow fantranslators to take heart, though: no matter how much they fail to know what to do, they’ll never do as horrible a job as Kingdom Hearts did when turning Hikari into Simple and Clean. How the fuck did that happen what the hell.

Apologies for the lack of follows, but since 1) lack of presence will guarantee the insane majority goes unread and 2) Tumblr’s constant mixing of fandom and pseudoactivism gatekeeping is an anxiety crab bucket as well as a time sink and most importantly 3) I am still a total hermit whose idea of a good day is sitting under trees watching birds, I am staying out of that mess and reserving my dash for alerts, @s, and so on. I may eventually track “life update” tags, Xkit willing.

I may, may, post music. Which will as usual likely be random practice and unfinished messes, since I spend all my discipline on the world of Outside and strictly none on fandom!  ^^,

(Which is how I ended up with preposterous amounts of Archefic made unpostable by non-chronological writing over a 800-year timeframe. I only have so much discipline to spend in the day damn it. I have no idea how you guys have some left for coherent fandom writing.)

Shinsai, part 0

I don’t normally approve of scanlations. This being an exception (due to choosing to wish one friend a happy birthday by posting a good memory of a friend who passed away), I am deliberately not posting the color cover, as a token mark of respect to the author. To see the cover, find an old copy of the doujin!

There are quite a few black pages. I know they’re annoying to load, but since they’re very much there for thematic effect, I’m leaving them all in.

Translation notes:

The translation is not strictly exact. I always choose to go with the general tone/feeling rather than precision, and reworded things in places due to the space in the bubble not cooperating with the english language. 

The title is a play on words that does not translate at all. I went with "The Planting of Gods" because it preserves the most, but it’s not the only way to read it, and misses the play on the “royal/divine decree” expression.

This doujin being based on the original version of Dhaos (SFC/Drama/NariDan) voiced by Kaneto Shiozawa, he speaks in the doujin as he does there: in a way that doesn't translate. TL;DR of it: Dhaos and Karion are making their Desian ancestors proud by being class-conscious little shits with dated phrasing, pronoun swaps galore, and the effing Royal We; I threw up my arms in defeat and used whatever preserved the panel’s tone.

Last but not least, as said above, this doujin follows the original canon. Which means that if all you know is NariDan X, you might be surprised by:

- Karion being a thing - Tree Spirit Dhaos being a thing - Norn and Martel's original designs - Norn being harsh but fair and most importantly not a taunting jerk - Dios and Meltia being true siblings - Dio and Mel being literally born to actual parents - Ethos not being a thing - Dhaos having forgiven the twins from the get go - And so on and so forth

If so, for trivia's sake, everything shown in this doujin used to be canon before the great Symphonia retcons started popping up, with the sole exception of Karion staying with Spirit!Dhaos. Because Dhaos can’t have nice things.
