Home of My Own is building another home in Nicaragua!  Meet the Rivera Caceres family.  Juan Jose works a full-time job at the slaughter house in los Brasiles.  Juana Marlene (mom) used to make a living doing laundry for others, but her health issues now prevent her from doing so. Their son, Gerald Jose, stopped schooling after third grade and has since worked taking care of other’s cattle.  Their daughters are currently in school, with the youngest starting 1st grade soon.  Home of My Own is blessed to be able to provide this family a home.

We are thrilled to introduce to you the Lopez Family. The Lopez family have lived in Cuidad Sandino community for quite a long time, and for 8 years, they had to rent different homes, until it was suggested to them to move into an empty plot of land that was owned by the local government. They moved in and built a very humble house with corrugated sheets of tin and wood. All of this happened 18 years ago, thankfully the local government decided to just go ahead and donate that piece of land to them. In 2004, the government deeded them the plot of land, so they currently hold the title to this piece of property. The father, Heylen, is working to provide for the family. However, Flor Maria, the mother, is unable to work due to the disability of their daughter, Flor Milena. Flor Milena has autism and is unable to remain at home independently. Heylen, her father, works in the streets in multiple neighborhoods selling goods, such as cleaning supplies, and various spices and condiments for food preparation. Because his job is low income, he has not been able to make improvements on their home. For 7 years, they have been faithfully trusting, and praying to the Lord for a new home.
Home of My Own has sponsored a new home for this family!
Below, see a message from the family.
“We are grateful and extremely happy. We know that God touched your heart to make this possible. Thank you for having the love to come to our home. We believe it was God´s gift. May God continue to bless you”

The team would like to introduce to you Enduy Lisbeth Gutierrez Quiroz and her family. Enduy is currently in 7th grade at Jehovah Jireh School and she is 13 years old. Enduy is a very good student and is taking English lessons on Saturdays. The SH is very proud of her hard work at school. Enduy and her family have lived in los Brasiles for over 6 years. They used to rent in Managua until Enduy’s grandmother who lives in Costa Rica decided to donate the family a piece of land in Los Brasiles. Esperanza (Enduy’s mom) does laundry and ironing for other people. Dad works as an accountant assistance and makes approximately $190 a month. Jose Alexander (Enduy’s little brother) is in 2nd grade at the local public school and he is a very good student. Enduy’s family submitted a letter to the SH team requesting a house about 3 years ago and they have been patiently waiting to hear an answer from God. Their current house (look at the picture) is in really bad conditions. The wood is rotten and its gets flooded every time it rains. After visiting their home, the team can definitely say that this family needs a new house.
Home of My Own is honored to have sponsored a home for this wonderful family!

We are so moved by the Ferry family!  The Ferry's participate in the Home of My Own Home Ownership Program.  The created their own charity drive called Operation Warm Up Indy.  They have been collecting coats, hats, gloves, socks, and blankets for the homeless population in Indianapolis.  They distributed what they had collected yesterday downtown.  We love it when our participants are able to give back to the community!  Thank you, Ferry family!

Congratulations, Tina!  Our first Butterfly House resident has earned her wings! Tina has transitioned out of the Butterfly House.  She has accomplished many goals over the past year while in our program.  She has completed school, gained full-time employment, and now has the financial independence to move into a home of her own.  We congratulate her, and wish her and her daughter well on their continued journey!
