It literally makes me feel like I'm losing my mind that almost no one in the global north on here will speak about, or even react to, the fact that the US is literally funding Israeli owned death traps for starving families.
The United States and Israel have made it impossible for all actual aid to enter Gaza. Then, private contractors from the United States created the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), with Israeli support, to "take over" aid distribution. They are preventing aid distribution by all humanitarian groups in Gaza that distribute aid in coordination with the U.N., and replacing them with GHF. These GHF sites are set up in collaboration with Israeli military to lure in starving families and gun them down.

‼️Emergency please don't skip‼️
🇵🇸 save family lost their home ,dreams and everything in Gaza 🇵🇸
This is my home before the war and after the war how it became💔💔💔
Before: After:

We have been through many wars before, but this war was not like the ones before it. Our lives were turned upside down. We became displaced from one place to another. We are the Anas family, residents of northern Gaza, specifically in the Shujaiya area. In the first week of the war, we fled our home because everyone considered our home to be in a dangerous area. We moved to the Rimal area, specifically in the middle of Gaza. There, we received the news that our home, which contained all our beautiful memories, was bombed. Suddenly, it was gone!!! Just thinking that your home, which you worked hard on and built from scratch and took a lot of your life, was gone in less than a second ! After a while, we left the sands to the Al-Zawaida area because of the heavy shelling. We stayed there for about two weeks, and then the terrorist army asked us to go to Rafah. We actually fled for the fourth time to Rafah and stayed there for two months, some of the most difficult days of our lives, as there was no way or means to live a normal life. 😔😔 After that, because of the invasion of Rafah, we moved to Deir al-Balah. Now, we are in very difficult and oppressive circumstances.
We are asking you with all shame to support and stand by us in these difficult circumstances that everyone knows because we lost our home, our work and any stable source of income. Thank you all.
🔗 🔗 Gofundme link for donations 👇👇👇👇🔗 🔗
Please, we are in dire need of you and your support. If you cannot donate, you can share☹️❤️🥹
Even $5 will make a big difference and save us!

Do u know what's DISGUSTING? It's when you have to remove insects from the only loaf of bread you're allowed to eat each day, but to make fun of ourselves, we call these insects "free protein." And as the saying goes, when you're hungry, your mind shuts down. Now I cover my nose when eating a loaf of bread so I don't smell it, and I avoid looking at it so I don't see the insects… But that's not important, there's worse. Malnutrition is starting to affect my 6 y.old brother , as intestinal worms are eating away at her body from the inside out and destroying her health. So, I'm appealing to you all to donate so I can buy a clean bag of flour for $500 and provide treatment for her. She's slowly dying… Or by PayPal My campaign has been verified. Donation link here or PayPal here Verification here Thank you for your time, and thank you to every heart that still feels with us.

I've been gone for medical issues, which is why I have not reposted or answered asks for so long.
But I feel compelled to speak out in what's happening in LA. As an immigrant myself who became a US citizen. As someone whose grown up in LA county in California. As someone who's family friend was taken by ICE unlawfully when they didn't have a warrant for him nor were looking for him.
It's absolutely disgusting how we are treating human beings. How we are racially profiling people based on their skin tone. I've been discriminated all my life because I looked racially ambiguous and I can't help but feel horror when I see the way people are being treated. Some of you lack empathy and it shows.
Being undocumented doesn't make you criminal or illegal. Being undocumented is a civil offense. Some of you are trying to turn the narrative and say these protests are violent. When there is footage out there is protesters telling looters to stop. Media lies and has always lied. The best media you can get is from people from those protest having actual footage of people getting shot with rubber bullets for no reason. Such as a reporter who was just doing her job. Such someone's friend I met who started bleeding horribly when they shot him in the leg. Protesting is part of our rights.
I urge you all to pick the book "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century" by Timothy Snyder.

🚨 A Voice from Gaza: Please Hear Us 🚨
My name is Abdelmajed Elderawi, and I am writing to you from Gaza, where life has become an unimaginable struggle. Our days are filled with uncertainty, and the hope for a better future feels like a distant dream.
The war has left deep scars on my family and me. We’ve endured the heartbreaking loss of 25 loved ones—each one a light extinguished too soon. Their absence is a pain I carry every day, and I often find myself lost in memories of the laughter and joy they brought into our lives.
Life in Gaza Today: 💔 Overwhelming Loss: The pain of losing so many family members is impossible to describe. 🍽️ Barely Getting By: Even basic necessities like food and water are becoming harder to afford. 🏠 No Safe Shelter: Our homes, once our refuge, now feel fragile and unsafe. 📚 Dreams on Hold: The pursuit of education and opportunities has been replaced by the constant fight for survival.

What We Need: In these desperate times, even a small gesture can mean so much. A $5 donation could provide us with food or water for a day. If you can’t donate, simply sharing our story could help us reach someone who can.
Your Support Gives Us Hope: This isn’t just about financial help—it’s about knowing that someone, somewhere, cares. Your kindness can be a source of strength for us, a reminder that we’re not alone in this fight.
How You Can Help: 🙏 Donate if you can. 🙏 Share this post to spread the word. 🙏 Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
I’m not asking for much—just a little hope, a little relief, and a chance to keep moving forward. Your generosity, in any form, can make a difference in ways you might not even imagine.
Thank you for taking the time to hear my story. Your kindness means more than words can express.
With heartfelt gratitude, Abdelmajed ❤️

A Brief Guide on Uploading ChoiceScript Demos to Itch.io
Since Dashingdon is shutting down, and there will be a lot of folks wanting to host their ChoiceScript demos elsewhere, I thought it'd be a good idea to provide a brief guide on how to do so for itch.io.
This is for Windows in the folder actions, but it shouldn't be too difficult for folks to translate for Mac. This also assumes you haven't changed any of the files within your game folder other than those found under 'scenes'.
Within your game folder, locate the 'web' subfolder, right click it and select 'Send to' then 'Compressed (zipped) folder. Name your newly compressed file something sensible, and I recommend moving it to a new folder outside of your game files, just to keep everything neat and tidy.
2. Assuming you already have an itch.io account, navigate to your dashboard, and click the 'Create New Project' button.
3. Name your project as you like, and under 'Kind of project', select the 'HTML' option.
4. Set the 'Pricing' to 'No Payments', you cannot use ChoiceScript for profit unless it is with the Choice of Games or Hosted Games publishing labels. No one wants to get in trouble unnecessarily here.
5. In the Uploads section, upload your newly zipped file we made in step one. After it's finished uploading, you'll be given one drop down and two tick boxes. You need to tick the 'This file will be played in the browser' option.
6. I've found so far that 'Viewport dimensions' work quite well for desktop at 1080 x 640. Either use these numbers or experiment and find what works best for you.
7. You must tick the 'Enable scrollbars' option for your game to display properly, otherwise options, text and buttons can be clipped off the bottom of the viewport.
8. Continue filling out the rest of the form, or skip it for now and scroll all the way to the bottom to the 'Visibility & access' section. Here make sure you have 'Draft' selected. This prevents others from finding your game until you're ready, and I always recommend play testing things before you make your work public.
9. Finally, hit the 'Save' button, then go and have a look at your creation by hitting the 'View page' link. And there you go! When you're ready for public release, just change the option in section 8 to 'Public'.
---
A few things to bear in mind about hosting on itch.io.
There isn't currently any way for your readers to save their game. I'm sure someone could write in a plugin similar to Dashingdon's at some point, but as for right now, this isn't available.
Make sure you properly tag your game with the 'choicescript' and 'interactive-fiction' tags. There are an awful lot of games on itch.io and it's easy to get lost in the crowd. Make sure folks can find you by having the right tags.
I hope this brief guide was useful to folks.
Best of luck to you with your writing!

Dashingdon is shutting down
To whom it may concern...
Dashingdon is horribly outdated and will be shutting down very soon, at the end of January 2025. This means all of the games and accounts will be permanently deleted as well. The dashingdon link itself will be redirected to cogdemos, but all data on the dashingdon site will be deleted.
Every one of the old inactive WIPs will be permanently gone if the authors don't save them.
Please reblog this or any other post about these news and if you know inactive authors, please try to reach them and let them know about what's going on. There is not much time left, so help the community out! ❤️
Here is the forum post from the owner dashingdon himself if you want to read it.

🚨 We Need Your Kindness to Survive 🚨
Hello, My name is Mosab Elderawi, and I live in Gaza with my family. Life here has become harder than I ever imagined, and I’m writing this with hope in my heart that you might hear our story.
The ongoing war has devastated my family. We’ve lost 25 family members—each one a beloved part of our lives, taken too soon. I miss them deeply—their laughter, their presence, their love. Every day is a reminder of this unimaginable loss.

64.media.tumblr.com

64.media.tumblr.com

64.media.tumblr.com

64.media.tumblr.com

64.media.tumblr.com
We are now facing daily challenges to survive—things that most people take for granted, like food, clean water, and a safe place to sleep. The harsh realities of life here have replaced our dreams with the constant fight for survival.
Our Current Situation:
💔 Lost Stability: The war has left us without work or a stable source of income. 🍞 Basic Needs: Food and water are becoming harder to afford with rising prices and scarce resources. 📚 Dreams on Hold: Like so many here, my family’s dreams have been replaced by the need to simply survive. 😢 Unimaginable Loss: Losing 25 loved ones has left a void that can never be filled.
How You Can Help:
I’m sharing our story with the hope that someone out there might care. Even $5 can make a big difference for us, and if you’re unable to donate, just reblogging this post can help spread the word.
Your kindness, no matter how small, is something we’ll never forget.
What This Means to Us:
Your support is not about changing our entire situation—it’s about giving us a little relief, a little hope, and a way to keep going. We are not asking for much, and we understand if you can’t donate. Sharing our story is just as valuable to us as a donation.
Thank you for reading this far. It means the world to us to know that someone is listening. Your kindness gives us strength and helps us believe in a better tomorrow.
With all our gratitude, Mosab Elderawi and Family ❤️

hey so Los Angeles is in crisis right now.
Multiple concurrent wildfires are happening, two of which are extremely devastating. The Palisades Fire, which at this time is the deadliest wildfire in LA history, has burned 18 square miles worth of land and destroyed over 1,000 structures. The Eaton Fire has burned over 10,000 acres. And the Santa Ana winds are rapidly escalating the fires to where containment at this time is borderline nonexistent and firefighters are at a loss for what to do. People have died. The air is extremely hard to breathe from smoke. Elderly, disabled and transient populations are at great risk. Even 20 miles south and 30 miles west of the Palisades and Eaton Fires, the smoke is so bad that there are air quality alerts and the moon is red at night. These have been called “catastrophic urban firestorms” and the people affected need your compassion.
If you are directly affected by the Eaton or Palisades Fires, here is a list of safe evacuation centers:

photo credit: Adelettes2 on Twitter/X (retrieved from Google)
The DreamCenter is also taking evacuees.
I’ll reblog when I can with more information for shelters but in the meantime please signal boost and add your own information if and when possible.

Israel can go to hell, and it's "sympathies." I am deeply saddened by what's happening in my state. I am an hour away from Eaton fire. YET, I don't need the condolences of a country that's constantly doing war crimes against Palestinians. While you guys donate to the families who have lost their homes, please remember to have the same empathy and sympathies you feel for California with Palestine. Don't forget to donate to Palestinians as well. They are also actively losing their lives and homes too. Have sympathy for all events that affect human life and the environment. That being said, anyone who has lost their homes, please feel to reach out to me so I can also promote any fundraisers. I finally have power after 60 hours, but it's nothing compared to the people who have lost their homes and lives. Remember to support your communities.

I am currently in a state of emergency in California. I've already packed my electronics, waiting to see if we need to evacuate. I am in the red zone. The only thing blocking the fire is the freeway and 2 cities. Small cities, the fire is an hour away, and constantly hear sirens and helicopters. I've been out of power since Tuesday at 6pm it's been 36 hours. I am currently charging stuff on a power bank that my dad has. The lights we have are due to my dad being an Electrian. I wish everyone safety and good luck please stay safe.

Do not really know what to say. A year ago we were making posts about how Gaza was being bombed through Christmas- how the oldest Christian community was being bombed- how the birth place of Jesus was being destroyed and his people murdered. A year later, it is going to be Christmas again soon, and the bombings have not stopped. But the news, and the attention seems to have died down considerably. It feels terrible and scary.
