Tried to make Cove on Pony Town (and failed miserably) because I have nothing better to do with my life

Our ocean boy is turning 25 🥺️. Thank you for all the years of happiness, Cove James Holden. And that’s not even an exaggeration, haha. The first demo came out in 2019, over three years ago, and he still can make me and other people smile just by being around. It’s wonderful.

Getting to make Our Life changed my life, and it’s all ‘cause of Cove. I’m so glad the grumpy-sunshiny-summer man got to exist and that his story was a good experience for so many players. Even when Our Life: Beginnings & Always stops getting updates, he’ll still always be around in those old events and in the memories of reading them. And, if I am able to keep making games for a while to come, I’m sure he’ll be back again someday.

So I used to have a Russian friend who had a pretty thick accent and like a lot of Russians tended to eschew articles. She would say things like “Get in car.” And stuff.

Well one day this asshole who had been kind of tagging along with us asks her why she talks like that because it makes her sound dumb and I still remember her response word for word.

“Me? Dumb? Maybe in America you have to say get in THE car because you are so stupid that people might just get in random car, but in Russia we don’t need to say that. We just fucking know because we are not stupid.”

My dad regularly sings to my mom about how much he loves her while standing exactly in the way of whatever she’s trying to do

My parents didn’t marry until I was 4 and they regularly forget that they’re spouses. They generally refer to themselves as partners

My mom proposed to my dad by yelling at him from a room away that her taxes were fucked and they had to get married to which my father replied “this is how I always dreamed you’d ask me!” and pretending to swoon

My dad appears as an actor in the movie Swoon, supposedly an important piece of queer cinema 

My parents were both punks in their youth

When I came home for thanksgiving with a mohawk, unannounced, my mom started crying because I looked “so handsome” and “just like your dad” and kept petting my head 

My dad only says “that’s my boy” to me when I say something gay about men

My mom and dad have the same taste in women but opposite taste in men

One time we were watching a movie set in Chicago and my mom turned to my dad, and in the most sentimental mom voice, said “Chicago honey! We haven’t been there since the anarchist convention!” 

My dad worked on California’s weed legalization bill
