Art is not just trust fundies selling soulless slop for profit. There are more unrecognized artists making art for arts sake than there are douchebags hobnobbing with billionaires.

Art is incredibly important to civilization and society. Pre colonized peoples understood this and they didn't have designated artists either. Art was something that everyone participated in and could be apart of. Art is just important to a healthy society as sanitation is, and sanitation workers can and should also participate in art.

Cavemen had art before they had "sanitation" because art is accessible, because art feeds the human spirit. Sanitation and art can happen simultaneously and we don't need to hold one over the other.

We need to stop lionizing "artists" and I'm NOT joking.
